Ray (6-6) allowed one run on three hits, a walk and a hit batter while striking out 10 over seven-plus innings to earn the win Friday versus the Angels.

Ray hit a batter and issued his lone walk in the first inning before turning dominant. He allowed his first hit in the seventh, and a couple of extra-base knocks in the eighth ended his night after 102 pitches (68 strikes). His last two starts have been some of his best work of the year, as he's given up only one run across his last 14 innings. Overall, the 30-year-old has a 4.25 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 91:29 K:BB through 84.2 innings in 14 starts. He lines up for a road start versus the struggling Athletics next week.

Lorenzen (6-4) allowed seven runs on seven hits, three walks and a hit batter while striking out three in five innings, taking the loss Friday versus the Mariners.

Lorenzen has alternated between strong and shaky starts in his last four turns through the rotation. The Mariners got to him early and often in this one, scoring in each of the first four innings, with the biggest damage being a Cal Raleigh solo home run and a three-run double from Ty France. Lorenzen saw his ERA spike to 4.15 with a 1.20 WHIP and 47:24 K:BB through 65 innings in 11 starts. He'll look for a bounce-back effort at home versus the Mariners next week.

Kremer allowed five hits and a walk over five scoreless innings in Friday's win over Tampa Bay. He struck out five and did not factor in the decision.

The 26-year-old was locked in a duel against Shane Baz, and the Orioles' offense couldn't break a scoreless tie until both starters were out of the game. Kremer lowered his ERA to 2.35 through three MLB starts this season. Over his last two outings, he's allowed just one earned run through 10 innings. Kremer is lined up to face the Nationals at home next week.

Baz yielded two hits over six scoreless frames in Friday's loss to Baltimore. He struck out seven without walking a batter and did not factor in the decision.

Baz looked much better in his second start of the season after getting stung for five runs in 2.2 innings in his 2022 debut. He threw 48 of 76 pitches for strikes, including 14 swinging strikes, and he struck out the side in his final frame. He's sporting a 5.40 ERA through 8.1 frames after missing the start of the season due to an elbow injury. Baz is projected to face the Yankees at home next week.

Sale (ribs) will begin a rehab assignment in the Florida Complex League on Monday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Sale has been out all year while recovering from a stress fracture in his right rib cage. The Red Sox went back and forth on whether he'd be best served returning as a starter or reliever but eventually decided that a return to his starting role would be best. That means he'll need quite a long rehab process, which may keep him out until sometime around the All-Star break.

Greinke (elbow) will make another rehab start for Triple-A Omaha on Saturday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Greinke has been out since the end of May with a right flexor strain. He's already made one rehab start and reached five innings, though that only took him 49 pitches due to his remarkable efficiency, so it's no surprise to see that the Royals want him to build up his pitch count a bit more before being activated.

Kopech (knee) will start Sunday against the Astros, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Kopech left his previous start last Sunday with a knee issue after recording just two outs. He was quickly cleared of anything worse than discomfort, however, and he noted the next day that he felt much better after getting some fluid drained. He tested his knee in a bullpen session Thursday and evidently proved to the team that he was good to go without missing a turn in the rotation.

Cole will start Monday in Tampa Bay, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

Luis Severino was scratched from his start Thursday with an illness and will be starting Sunday against the Blue Jays, which pushes Cole to Monday. He had been lined up for two starts this week and will instead line up for two next week, in Tampa Bay and home for the Astros.

Whitlock (hip) has resumed playing catch, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Whitlock has been on the injured list for a week, and the Red Sox are hoping he'll be able to rejoin the rotation after missing the minimum of 15 days. The right-hander is eligible to be reinstated as early as June 24.

Eovaldi (back) is progressing more slowly than expected and is unlikely to return from the 15-day injured list when first eligible, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

The Red Sox were initially hoping Eovaldi would be back after spending the minimum on the IL, but the right-hander hasn't made as much progress in his recovery as the team had anticipated. A better timetable for his return should come into focus after he's cleared to begin a throwing program.
