Gibson (groin) is expected to be activated off the injured list following the Colorado series which ends Thursday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

If Gibson returns after the Colorado series, it means he'd miss the minimum amount of time and not require a rehab stint. Gibson has a 2.24 ERA and 1.01 WHIP over 60.1 innings.

Allard is likely heading back to the bullpen after making a spot start Thursday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

The Rangers have a quirky schedule coming coming up with multiple off-days and can skip a fifth starter. During that stretch in the schedule, it's expected that Kyle Gibson (groin) will return, an event that would move Allard back to the bullpen.

Javier allowed one run on two hits and two walks while striking out four over four relief innings in Friday's 10-3 extra-innings loss to the Padres.

Javier is the odd-man out of the rotation after Framber Valdez and Jake Odorizzi were activated off the injured list. This was Javier's first appearance out of the bullpen and an encouraging one at that. Houston's bullpen, outside of closer Ryan Pressly, has not performed well this season.

Valdez allowed one run on two hits and two walks while striking out four over four innings in a no-decision against San Diego on Friday.

Valdez made his season debut after suffering a fractured finger during spring training. He executed all of his pitches, relying heavily on his sinker and curveball while throwing 72 pitches (40 strikes). That was right at his pitch limit for the night, per Brian McTaggart of MLB.com. It's natural the Astros wouldn't want to push him immediately, and the left-hander is expected to get deeper into games as he builds arm strength. His next opportunity is scheduled for Wednesday at home against Boston.

Lyles (2-4) took the loss Friday in a 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Mariners, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk over six innings with eight strikeouts.

Lyles pitched well to every Mariner except Kyle Lewis, who had a role in all three Seattle runs. He's pitched marginally better in May with 18 runs allowed in 32 innings, but Lyles is a streaming option at best with a 5.79 ERA.

Garcia (1-1) allowed one unearned run on one hit while striking out two over one inning in a win against the Yankees on Friday.

The 26-year-old entered in the top of the 10th inning in a 1-1 game. Aaron Judge started the inning at second and was able to score on a passed ball to give the Yankees the lead, but Garcia came away with the win after Robbie Grossman hit a two-run walkoff home run in the bottom of the 10th. Garcia hasn't been charged with an earned run in six straight appearances and carries a 4.50 ERA and 1.56 WHIP through 18 innings.

Cole allowed one earned run on six hits and one walk while striking out five across six innings in the loss to the Tigers on Friday. He did not factor into the decision.

The only run charged against Cole came in the third inning on a Jeimer Candelario single that scored Robbie Grossman. Cole has posted a quality start in nine of his 11 starts. His only bad start came against the Rangers in mid May, when he gave up five runs in five innings. Despite having just five punchouts Friday, Cole is fourth in all of baseball with a 12.4 K/9. In addition, he leads the American League with a 1.78 ERA and a 10.78 K/BB through 70.2 innings this season.

Mize allowed one earned run on five hits and no walks while striking out seven across five innings Friday, but he did not factor into the decision in a win over the Yankees.

His only run allowed came on a fifth inning solo home run by Rougned Odor. Mize tied his season high with seven strikeouts, and this was just his second start in which he didn't issue any walks. The 24-year-old has a 3.28 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP with 47 strikeouts in 57.2 innings. He's given up 11 of his 21 earned runs this season in just two starts. His next scheduled start comes Thursday against the White Sox.

Perez (3-2) allowed two runs on five hits and struck out four in five innings in Friday's win over Miami in a rain-shortened game.

The southpaw allowed a two-run home run to Miami catcher Jorge Alfaro in the second inning, but that was the extent of the damage. Perez has won three straight starts, allowing just five runs in 17 innings in that span. For the season, he sports a 3.55 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 48:17 K:BB across 50.2 innings. He lines up for a road start in Houston next week.

Ryu (5-2) allowed two runs on four hits and two walks with six strikeouts in five innings to earn the win Friday versus Cleveland in a rain-shortened game.

The contest was called in the seventh inning with Toronto ahead 11-2. Ryu was solid if not spectacular in the outing -- he needed 91 pitches (58 strikes) to get through five innings. He's picked up four wins in his last five starts. The 34-year-old has a 2.62 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 58:8 K:BB across 58.1 innings this year and projects to face Houston next week.
