Allard allowed one hit and one walk while striking out four over 2.2 scoreless innings in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Angels.

This was Allard's second straight time entering a game following starter Dane Dunning. The Rangers had been using Taylor Hearn as the left-handed complement to Dunning in what has been (and will continue to be) a tandem spot in the rotation. Allard has been a pleasant surprise thus far, allowing two earned runs, walking one and striking out 15 over 10 innings (five appearances). He was a minor-league starter and made 18 starts in the majors prior to 2021, so there could be an opportunity for Allard to enter the rotation at some point.

Greinke allowed four runs on four hits, two walks and a hit batsman while striking out five in a no-decision against the Mariners on Wednesday.

Greinke was uncharacteristically flat during his shortest outing of the season, throwing just 46 strikes among his 85 pitches. He would have been tagged with his second loss, but an eighth-inning rally bailed him out. Greinke's next turn is scheduled for Tuesday on the road in Yankee Stadium.

Dunning (1-1) allowed four earned runs on six hits and one walk while striking out six across five innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Angels.

Dunning struggled out of the gate and allowed all four of his earned runs in the first inning. The majority of the damage was done on singles -- he allowed four while also issuing one walk and uncorking a wild pitch -- though he rebounded to allow only two baserunners in his final four frames. Dunning had been excellent in his first three outings to begin the season, but he has come back to earth by allowing nine earned runs across 7.2 innings in his last two starts. He's projected to take the ball next Monday at Minnesota.

Cobb allowed three earned runs on six hits and no walks while striking out two across two innings Wednesday against the Rangers. He did not factor into the decision.

Cobb couldn't put hitters away and had several lengthy at-bats, which resulted in him being pulled after two innings and 51 pitches of subpar work. This was his second consecutive start in which he failed to escape the third inning, and he now has a 7.16 ERA across 16.1 frames for the season. His indicators suggest that he deserves better results -- he has a 23:5 K:BB and 2.34 FIP -- so he'll look to turn things around in his next outing, which is currently projected for Wednesday against Tampa Bay.

Kremer (0-2) allowed six runs on 10 hits with four strikeouts over 4.1 innings while taking the loss to the Yankees on Wednesday.

Kremer's biggest mistakes were a pair of home runs -- a solo shot to Mike Ford in the second inning and Gio Urshela's three-run blast in the third. The 25-year-old Kremer hasn't found much success this season with an 8.40 ERA, 2.00 WHIP and 18:6 K:BB across 15 innings. Given his struggles, it's unclear how long they'll let Kremer work as the fifth starter. He's currently projected for another start Monday in Seattle.

German (2-2) earned the win Wednesday, pitching seven shutout innings versus the Orioles. He allowed three hits and a walk with six strikeouts.

German was highly effective in this AL East matchup, as no Oriole got past second base on his watch. It's the first time in four starts he hasn't allowed a run. The right-hander lowered his ERA to 4.05 with a 1.30 WHIP and 19:4 K:BB across 20 innings this season. The 28-year-old's next start is scheduled for Tuesday at home versus the Astros.

Mize won't pitch Wednesday against the White Sox since the game was postponed due to inclement weather.

The game will be made up via a straight doubleheader Thursday. According to Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press, Mize will start Game 1 while Matthew Boyd takes the mound for Game 2.

Stripling (forearm) could start Sunday's game against Atlanta, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

He was cleared for mound work a week ago and has been throwing bullpen sessions. With Hyun Jin Ryu (glute strain) landing on the injured list, the Jays need all hands on deck. Even if Stripling gets activated for Sunday's start, he may not be able to log five-plus innings.

Manager Charlie Montoyo is hopeful that Ryu (glue strain) will miss only one start, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

The Jays were also hopeful that Ryu wouldn't miss any starts 24 hours ago and now he is on the 10-day injured list, so we shouldn't read too much into these comments. The team's beat writers are saying that Toronto is being cautious with Ryu in the short term. There will likely be a bullpen game Saturday and Ross Stripling (forearm) could return from the IL to start Sunday. Ryu could be activated to start May 6 in Oakland if he misses the minimum amount of time.
