Anderson will work behind an opener Thursday against the Yankees, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

The veteran right-hander was slated to make a traditional start Thursday, but Julian Merryweather has now been tabbed as the opener. Anderson has started in all seven of his outings this season and has a 5.81 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 25:8 K:BB over 26.1 innings.

Bubic will start Saturday's game against the Brewers, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.

Danny Duffy (disciplinary reasons) will rejoin the rotation for Friday's series opener, pushing Bubic back to Saturday. The 23-year-old has a 4.50 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 37:15 K:BB through 40 innings during his first year in the majors.

Bundy (5-3) was tagged with the loss Wednesday against the Diamondbacks. He gave up six runs (five earned) on six hits and two walks while fanning two across 2.2 innings.

This was Bundy's shortest and worst outing of the entire season by a wide margin -- he was coming off back-to-back starts in which he hurled at least seven innings while allowing two runs each time. Bundy also snapped a streak of four outings allowing two or fewer earned runs with this woeful performance, and he will attempt to turn things around in his next scheduled Sept. 21 start at home against the Rangers.

Civale took a no-decision during Wednesday's loss to the Cubs, surrendering two runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out three across six innings.

The right-hander has proven his arm to be a reliable one, making it through the sixth inning for the 10th time in as many starts this season. Civale limited the damage to RBI singles in the second and fourth innings. Otherwise, he turned in his seventh quality start of the year, leaving the game with the score knotted at 2-2 The 25-year-old will take a 3.80 ERA and 1.20 WHIP into a Monday showdown against the White Sox.

Keuchel (back) won't start Thursday versus the Twins but could pitch this weekend against the Reds, Scot Gregor of the Chicago Daily Herald reports.

The team was previously targeting Thursday for the left-hander's return from the injured list, but Reynaldo Lopez will instead be taking the mound. Keuchel didn't suffer any sort of setback, and manager Rick Renteria said he was pushed back in order to better line up the starting rotation for the playoffs, per James Fegan of The Athletic.

McCullers took a no-decision during Wednesday's loss despite holding the Rangers scoreless across seven innings. He struck out eight while giving up two hits.

For the second time this season, McCullers blanked his opponent through seven innings. The 26-year-old fired a season-high eight strikeouts and exited with the game still scoreless. Unfortunately, the pitchers' duel landed in favor of the Rangers, who enjoyed a complete-game shutout from Kyle Gibson. McCullers, who was activated from the injured list ahead of Wednesday's contest, underwent a procedure Sept. 8 that helped manage his neck pain. Across nine starts this year, the 26-year-old owns a 4.87 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. He'll take the mound next Monday at Seattle.

Gibson (2-5) earned the win against the Astros on Wednesday after firing nine scoreless innings. He struck out nine while allowing four hits and three walks.

Gibson's dominant performance stumped the Astros and rewarded him with his first career shutout across 198 games. The right-hander threw 74 of 114 pitches for strikes and whiffed a season-high tying nine batters en route to his first complete game since 2016 against the Braves. The brilliant outing came as a surprise after Gibson had given up 10 hits on five runs during his last start against the Angels. Gibson will carry a 5.18 ERA and 1.52 WHIP into a Monday matchup at Angel Stadium.

Giolito (4-3) allowed three runs on three hits and three walks while striking out four in six innings in a loss to the Twins on Wednesday.

Unfortunately for Giolito, two of the three hits he allowed left the yard. He gave up a solo shot to Eddie Rosario in the second inning and a two-run blast to Byron Buxton in the fourth. Meanwhile, the White Sox offense mustered just two hits all game. Giolito has a solid 3.53 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 86 strikeouts across 66.1 innings this season. He'll look to get back on track Monday in Cleveland.

Skubal (1-3) allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits and no walks while striking out eight across six innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Royals.

Skubal was a tough-luck loser, as he was outdueled by Brady Singer. He surrendered a two-run home run to the third batter he faced, but settled in to strike out a career-best eight hitters. That was backed by an impressive 17 swinging strikes, a positive step in the right direction for Skubal. It's been an up and down rookie season for him, as he has a 6.17 ERA but a promising 25:8 K:BB across 23.1 frames. He'll line up to take his next start Tuesday at Minnesota.

Cole (6-3) allowed one earned run on three hits and two walks while striking out eight across seven innings to earn the win Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

Cole dominated the Blue Jays, with the only blemish coming in the sixth inning when he allowed a leadoff double to Jonathan Villar, who ultimately came around to score. He generated 14 swinging strikes on 95 pitches and has now struck out at least eight batters in seven of his last eight starts. Overall, Cole has maintained a 3.00 ERA with a stellar 87:17 K:BB across 66 frames. He's lined up to take his next turn through the rotation Monday at Toronto.
