Kremer gave up one run on four hits with seven strikeouts over five innings during Saturday's 2-1, 10-inning loss to the Yankees. He had three walks and did not factor in the decision.

The 24-year-old faced the Yankees for the second time in as many starts and managed to keep them in check once again. Kremer has surrendered only two runs on five hits with a 14:6 K:BB through his first two big-league starts (11 innings), and he lines up to pitch against the Rays next week.

Montgomery didn't factor in the decision after giving up one unearned run on three hits with nine strikeouts and one walk over 5.2 innings during Saturday's 2-1, 10-inning win over the Orioles.

It was the left-hander's most productive outing of the season as he surrendered only three singles, but he missed out on the victory since New York's offense had its own struggles. Montgomery has a 4.76 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 32:7 K:BB through 34 innings and lines up to face the Red Sox on Friday.

Hancock, the sixth overall selection in the 2020 first-year player draft, impressed over 26 pitches in a live batting practice session Friday at the Mariners' alternate training site in Tacoma, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

The session was the right-hander's first time facing live hitters at the alternate site, and Hancock gave a good accounting of himself against some of his fellow top prospects. The 21-year-old elicited four groundballs and recorded one strikeout while facing the talented trio of Noelvi Marte, Alberto Rodriguez and Taylor Trammell in simulated situations, flashing some of the stuff that once had him pegged as a potential first overall pick. While the lack of a minor-league season this year certainly hasn't been ideal in terms of Hancock's development, the work he's getting in Tacoma appears to be serving him well.

Verlander (forearm) will throw again Saturday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Verlander was shut down with a strained forearm after making just a single start this season. He's been able to throw for nearly a month, however, and he's expected to face hitters during his next session if Saturday goes smoothly. Time is getting tight for him to pitch again before the end of the regular season, however, and he'll likely make no more than one fairly brief appearance if he returns at all.

Eovaldi (calf) was activated from the injured list as expected and will start against the Rays on Saturday.

Eovaldi hasn't pitched in over three weeks with a strained right calf. He's trimmed his ERA by over a run this season, though it still sits at an unimpressive 4.98. Matt Hall was optioned in a corresponding move.

Marsh joined the Royals' player pool Saturday.

The 2019 second-round pick will work out with the Royals' coaching staff for the final two weeks of the season, though his addition to the pool is almost certainly for purely developmental purposes. He's made just 13 career professional starts, all at the rookie ball level.

Farrell was recalled to serve as the 29th man for Saturday's doubleheader against Oakland.

Farrell has made three relief appearances this season and hasn't done much with them, allowing five runs in 3.1 innings of work. If he makes an appearance Saturday, it will likely be in a low-leverage role.

Anderson (0-1) allowed four runs on four hits and three walks while striking out four over 2.2 innings as he was charged with the loss Friday against the Mets.

Anderson has struggled mightily in his last two starts, and he picked up his first decision of the season in Friday's 18-1 loss. The right-hander hasn't lasted longer than five innings in any of his seven starts in 2020 as he carries a 5.81 ERA and 1.56 WHIP through 26.1 innings. He'll attempt to right the ship on the road Thursday against the Yankees.

Sale (elbow) has been playing catch for the past week, Ian Browne of the MLB.com reports.

Boston manager Ron Roenicke received positive reports about Sale, the left-hander who underwent Tommy John surgery at the end of March. He's not expected to return until the middle of next season.

Bubic (1-5) tossed five innings of one-run baseball on Friday, allowing six hits and walking two during the Royals 4-3 win over the Pirates. He struck out six.

Bubic picked up his first MLB win and increased the Royals' win streak to four. A bonafide top-10 prospect from the Royals' system, Bubic has begun to find a rhythm, allowing fewer than three runs and lasting at least five innings in three consecutive starts.
