Cole allowed four runs on six hits and one walk while striking out 14 over 6.2 innings for a no-decision against the Rays on Wednesday.

The offense bailed out Cole, who departed with the Astros down by a run. This was the 15th time in 27 starts the right-hander has recorded double-digit strikeouts, establishing a new franchise record and putting him atop the league in that category with 252. Cole will next start Monday on the road in Milwaukee.

Sandoval gave up one hit and three walks while striking out nine through five scoreless innings in a no-decision against the Rangers on Wednesday.

Sandoval came out dealing, registering 20 swinging strikes in his 84 pitches. Sandoval was removed before facing the lineup for a third time despite his success and will likely be used in a similar fashion going forward. The 22-year-old has a 5.24 ERA with a 1.48 WHIP through five appearances. Sandoval is scheduled to make his next start Tuesday against the Athletics at RingCentral Coliseum.

Rodriguez (16-5) earned the win over the Rockies on Wednesday, allowing three runs on nine hits and three walks while striking out five over five innings.

Although Rodriguez allowed nine hits, the southpaw prevented major contact and did not surrender any home runs for the third straight game, which is especially impressive at Coors Field. After tossing 14.2 scoreless innings in his last two starts, Rodriguez blanked the Rockies until the fourth frame when he loaded the bases and allowed Garret Hampson to reach on an RBI infield single. The 26-year-old began to unravel in the fifth, but he held Colorado to a pair of runs to limit the damage. Rodriguez, whose 16 wins tie Justin Verlander for second best among all major-league pitchers, now sports a 3.97 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 160:62 K:BB. He'll look for his fourth straight victory against the Twins on Tuesday.

Civale (2-3) picked up the win Wednesday, allowing two runs on six hits over seven innings while striking out five as Cleveland downed the Tigers, 4-2.

The right-hander hasn't given up more than two earned runs in any of his six trips to the mound in the majors this season, but this outing was his longest to date. Civale will take a 1.96 ERA and 30:6 K:BB through 36.2 innings into his next start Monday, at home against the White Sox.

Paxton (11-6) allowed two runs on one hit with five walks and four strikeouts across five innings while recording a victory against the Mariners on Wednesday.

The free passes prevented Paxton from going deeper in the contest and led to one run scoring, but Paxton mostly worked around the walks to win his sixth straight decision. During the winning streak, Paxton owns a 3.57 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 35.1 innings. Overall, he has recorded a 4.39 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 156 strikeouts in 125 innings this season. Paxton will make his next start Tuesday at home against the Rangers.

Manager Terry Francona said on MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM that Carrasco (illness) will be activated off the 60-day injured list Sunday.

Carrasco began a minor-league rehab assignment Aug. 19 and will make his final rehab appearance Thursday before rejoining the Indians when rosters expand. The 32-year-old has been sidelined for the last few months after being diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia, but he's primed to return to the majors in a bullpen role after receiving the necessary treatment and working through his rehab program.

Means (family emergency) should start either Friday or Saturday in Kansas City, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

He is currently on the Family Medical Emergency List, but will slot back in this weekend against the Royals. Means has a 6.23 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 26 strikeouts in 34.2 innings over seven second-half starts.

Keller will be shut down for the season for workload reasons, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.

Keller pitched 165.1 innings this season, up from 140.1 last year. He wasn't able to come close to last season's 3.08 ERA, but his 4.19 mark this season was respectable enough. He again relied on a strong groundball rate (50.0 percent), as both his strikeout rate (17.2 percent) and walk rate (9.9 percent) were fairly poor.

Severino (lat) is now scheduled to make a rehab appearance Sunday with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, not Double-A Trenton as originally reported, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

The change in plans doesn't appear to have any bearing on Severino's timeline for eventually making his season debut. It's not clear how many rehab outings the Yankees plan for Severino to make, but he may not require too many since he's expected to return initially as a reliever.

Montgomery (shoulder) will make his next rehab appearance for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Montgomery was originally scheduled to join Double-A Trenton for his next rehab start, but he'll report to the highest level of the minors instead. The southpaw looked sharp in his first rehab outing over the weekend, firing a pair of perfect innings for High-A Tampa. The Yankees remain optimistic about Montgomery's chances of returning from the injured list sometime in September, likely in a relief role.
