Luzardo (lat) fired three perfect innings in High-A Stockton's win over Rancho Cucamonga on Saturday, recording seven strikeouts.

Luzardo finished the dominant outing by striking out the side and worked up to 45 pitches overall. The southpaw has now collected 12 strikeouts across five innings over two starts since resuming his rehab assignment, and given his dominance Saturday, he could be headed up to a higher-level affiliate for his next start.

Heaney (shoulder) allowed one run on three hits with one walk and four strikeouts across 3.2 innings in a no-decision against the Red Sox on Saturday.

The 28-year-old pitched well in his return from the injured list Saturday, but he didn't have the stamina -- throwing just 74 pitches -- to last five innings, which meant he didn't get the win. Heaney is still searching for his second victory of the year, as he is 1-3 with a 4.89 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 58 strikeouts in 49.2 innings this season. He will pitch again Thursday against the White Sox at home.

Milone (1-7) allowed five runs on six hits over four innings, taking the loss against the Rays on Saturday.

Milone was fine through his first two innings, but a three-run homer from former Mariner Mike Zunino blew it up for the southpaw. He would allow solo shots to Kevin Kiermaier and Avisail Garcia before exiting the contest. Milone has taken the loss in six of his last nine appearances, inflating his ERA from 3.03 to 4.70 in that span. The 32-year-old is expected to work behind an opener again in Detroit on Thursday. Milone allowed two runs on six hits and a walk over five innings versus Detroit on July 28.

Turnbull (3-10) allowed just two runs on three hits and a walk across six innings but was saddled with the loss in Saturday's game against the Royals. He struck out three.

Turnbull pitched well enough to win, but the Detroit offense was lackluster in a 7-0 loss. The righty has a solid 3.68 ERA, though the lack of consistent run support has led to the disappointing 3-10 record. Nonetheless, Turnbull has had a good season and should remain in the rebuilding team's plans moving forward. The Tigers did announce recently that they plan to limit Turnbull's innings the rest of the way, so his fantasy value could take a hit. As of now, he's scheduled to take the hill again Friday against the Rays.

Morton (13-4) allowed four runs on nine hits over six innings, striking out 10 and earning the win in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Mariners.

It's the fifth time this season Morton has recorded double-digit whiffs, and Saturday also marks the sixth time he hasn't walked a batter. He did give up a homer to Omar Narvaez in the fifth inning, but the bullpen allowed just one baserunner over the final three innings to preserve Morton's win. The 35-year-old right-hander has a 2.90 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 184 strikeouts in 149 innings this season and is expected to draw the lowly Tigers on Friday for his next start.

Turnbull is nearing his innings limit and may piggyback starts with Daniel Norris to close the season, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Turnbull has thrown 105.1 innings this season, still well below his 135.2 total innings from 2018. While it makes sense the team would try to protect the 26-year-old from being overworked, it would be a bit surprising to see them cut his work far short of 150 innings with an eye toward a full workload in 2020.

Milone will work as the primary pitcher Saturday against the Rays, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

Milone will follow Matt Wisler into the game, likely after an inning or two. He's looked sharp in the role in his past couple appearances, allowing four earned runs across 10 innings with 12 punchouts and two walks.

Canning (elbow) suffered no setbacks in his bullpen session Saturday and will rejoin the Angels rotation, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Canning was placed on the injured list last Sunday after dealing with elbow inflammation. With Jaime Barria getting sent down Saturday, there is a natural opening in the team's starting five. Maria Torres reports that Canning should start Tuesday against the Pirates as long as his arm is recovered.

Heaney (shoulder) was officially activated from the injured list prior to his start Saturday against the Red Sox.

Heaney most recently threw 60 pitches in a simulated game, so he may be slightly limited in his first start since hitting the injured list July 20. He enters the outing with a 5.09 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP with 54 strikeouts across 46 innings this season.

Liberatore was placed on the injured list at Low-A Bowling Green on Friday with minor back tightness, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

With this issue described as minor, there's hope that Liberatore will be able to return at some point during the final three weeks of Bowling Green's season. The 16th overall pick in 2018, Liberatore has put together a strong campaign in his first full-season stop, posting a 3.15 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 69:29 K:BB in 71.1 innings so far. He's arguably a top-five prospect in a stacked Rays farm system.
