Gibson allowed five earned runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out three across five innings Tuesday against the Yankees. He did not factor into the decision.

Gibson was hit hard out of the gate, allowing two doubles and two earned runs in the first inning. He settled in to post three scoreless frames before surrendering a three-run homer to Didi Gregorious, effectively ending his evening. Gibson remains frustratingly inconsistent, as he has posted three quality starts in his last nine outings but also surrendered three or more earned runs on three occasions. All told, he has a 4.02 ERA and 1.23 WHIP across 105.1 innings for the season. He'll draw a softer matchup his next time out, as he's currently scheduled to start Sunday at the White Sox.

German allowed eight earned runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out three across 3.2 innings Tuesday against the Twins. He did not factor into the decision.

German managed a clean first inning but struggled from there forward. While he escaped the second frame by surrendering just one earned run, he allowed two hits and two walks -- a sign of further trouble to come. Prior to being pulled, German went on to allow three home runs, capped by a three-run shot by Miguel Sano. German entered the contest on the heels of three consecutive quality starts, and still has a solid 3.38 ERA and 1.06 WHIP across 88 innings for the season. He'll look to bounce back in his next start, currently scheduled for Sunday at Boston.

Miley didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 4-3 extra-innings loss to the A's, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks over eight-plus innings while striking out six.

The southpaw carried a shutout into the ninth inning, but after he put the first two runners aboard, he got the hook and had to watch as Roberto Osuna served up a three-run homer to Matt Olson that cost Miley his ninth win of the year. He'll take a 3.18 ERA and 100:38 K:BB through 121.2 innings into his next start Sunday in St. Louis.

Sale (5-9) recorded 10 strikeouts and earned the win Tuesday at Tampa Bay after allowing two runs on four hits and three walks across six innings.

Sale served up a two-run homer during the third inning but otherwise mostly looked like his old self Tuesday, generating 15 swinging strikes. It's the second straight quality start with double-digit strikeouts for the veteran lefty. Sale's 4.00 ERA still leaves something to be desired, but his 1.08 WHIP and 182:32 K:BB through 123.2 innings are helping fantasy owners immensely. The 30-year-old next lines up to face the Yankees on Sunday.

Kaprielian was promoted to Double-A Midland on Tuesday, High-A Stockton broadcaster Zack Bayrouty reports.

Kaprielian moves up after tossing 36.1 innings for High-A Stockton, his first innings since 2016 after two seasons lost to injuries. His 4.46 ERA in those innings wasn't particularly good, but both his 28.3 percent strikeout rate and 5.3 percent walk rate were strong.

Whitley (shoulder) will make a rehab start for High-A Fayetteville on Wednesday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Whitley was shut down with shoulder fatigue in late May after opening the season with a 12.21 ERA in 24.1 innings for Triple-A Round Rock. He hasn't been any better thus far on his rehab assignment, allowing five runs (four earned) while walking nine batters in 4.1 innings at the rookie-ball level, but he'll move up to a full-season affiliate Wednesday despite his continued struggles.

Farrell (jaw) will begin a rehab assignment with the Arizona Rookie League Rangers on Tuesday, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.

Farrell hasn't pitched in a live game since spring training, when he suffered a fractured jaw after being struck by a line drive. While it's good to see him back in action, his lengthy absence means he'll likely need a considerable amount of time in the minor leagues to get his arm back in shape. A timetable for his return has not yet been revealed.

Bunday (knee) was activated from the 10-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Tuesday against Arizona.

Bundy expected to miss just one start with knee tendinitis and will wind up meeting that goal. The 26-year-old has so far failed to take a step forward this season, with his 5.28 ERA not coming in meaningfully lower than his 5.45 mark from last season.

Milone is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Rangers.

The lefty has been a mainstay in the Seattle rotation since late May, but he had been deployed out of the bullpen as a bulk reliever behind an opener for each of his last four turns. The arrangement has mostly been favorable for Milone this season, though he was bombed for five runs on five hits -- including three home runs -- and three walks over 4.1 innings his last time out in Oakland on July 17. Even if Milone is cruising through Tuesday's start, expect manager Scott Servais to pull him early rather than risk exposing the southpaw to a blowup while facing hitters a third time through the order.

Eovaldi allowed five hits and three runs while striking out two over two-thirds of an inning in Monday's 9-4 win over the Rays.

This was Eovaldi's first appearance since coming off the injured list, and it was designed to be a soft landing after he missed three months with an elbow injury. Unfortunately, he showed up rusty and couldn't get out of the eighth inning. The silver lining is that just one of the five hits had an exit velocity over 93.8 mph, per Christopher Smith of MassLive.com.
