  • Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez: Fires seven stellar innings

Rodriguez (7-4) surrendered one run on six hits and struck out four over seven innings Friday in a win over the Orioles.

Rodriguez gave up his lone run in the first inning on a solo homer, but he was able to buckle down and toss six consecutive scoreless frames to close out his night. The 26-year-old southpaw has struggled to find consistency through his first 14 starts of the 2019 campaign, though he'll attempt to piece together back-to-back solid outings in his next scheduled appearance, which lines up for Wednesday in Minnesota.

  • Yankees' Jordan Montgomery: Tosses live batting practice

Montgomery (elbow) threw live batting practice Friday, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

Montgomery successfully completed his latest throwing session and remains on track for an August return. He'll likely advance to pitching in minor-league games in the near future, considering his most recent progress.

  • Casey Mize SP | SD

Tigers' Casey Mize: Lands on MiLB IL

Mize has been diagnosed with minor posterior shoulder inflammation and was placed on the 7-day injured list Friday.

The Tigers are understandably exercising caution with their young pitching prospect, which is why Mize underwent an MRI after exiting Thursday night's outing due to shoulder soreness. He'll remain on the shelf for at least the next week, though he certainly won't be rushed back into action before he's ready.

  • Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX

Red Sox's Nathan Eovaldi: To resume throwing shortly

Eovaldi (elbow) could resume throwing either Sunday or Monday, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.

Eovaldi's last bullpen session was canceled after he experienced biceps tendinitis, but he's reportedly feeling better and is set to throw again within the next few days. How he feels during his upcoming throwing session will likely determine the next steps in his recovery process.

  • Corey Kluber SP | BOS

Indians' Corey Kluber: Ready for strengthening exercises

Kluber (forearm) has been cleared to take part in strengthening exercises over the next few weeks following Thursday's evaluation, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

The early stages of Kluber's recovery are going well, though he's yet to pick up a baseball and likely won't do so for at least the next few weeks until he's evaluated yet again. A clear timetable for his return to the big-league roster has yet to emerge.

  • Marcus Stroman SP | NYY

Blue Jays' Marcus Stroman: Goes six strong innings in win

Stroman (4-8) allowed two runs (one earned) on seven hits with no walks over six innings while earning the win Thursday against the Orioles. He struck out five.

Stroman scattered baserunners throughout his outing but mitigated the damage against him with nine groundball outs. He allowed an unearned run after a passed ball in the third inning and one run on a pair of hits in the fifth, but he finished with the win after his offense ran away with it later on. This was a nice bounce-back performance after Stroman surrendered six earned runs in his previous turn, and he'll look to keep it up next week at home against the Angels.

  • Matthew Boyd SP | CHC

Tigers' Matthew Boyd: Fans seven in loss

Boyd (5-5) was charged with the loss after lasting just four innings against the Royals on Thursday. He surrendered six hits on five runs (four earned) and two walks while striking out seven.

Boyd handed the Royals the lead with a solo shot to Nicky Lopez in the second. He then allowed Martin Maldonado to score on a balk. It took Boyd 51 pitches to get through the first two innings, which proved to haunt him soon enough. In the fourth frame, the southpaw gave up a two-run double to Whit Merrifield, who scored on a throwing error by Niko Goodrum. The outing was Boyd's shortest since a May 14 loss to the Astros. On the bright side, the 28-year-old ace has fanned at least seven batters for the sixth straight game, further improving his impressive 112:17 K:BB ratio to go with a 3.35 ERA and 1.08 WHIP. Boyd will look to bounce back with a favorable matchup in Pittsburgh on Wednesday.

  • Casey Mize SP | SD

Tigers' Casey Mize: Battling shoulder soreness

Mize was lifted from Thursday's game by Double-A Erie due to right shoulder soreness, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Mize had to leave Thursday's outing after experiencing discomfort in his throwing shoulder, though the extent of the issue likely won't be revealed until further testing takes place. Expect the organization to exercise caution with one of their top pitching prospects.

  • Luis Medina RP | ATH

Yankees' Luis Medina: Spins gem in Low-A

Medina fired six scoreless innings for Low-A Charleston on Thursday, striking out three and walking two in a 10-0 win for the RiverDogs.

It was Medina's longest outing of his professional career so far, and he worked efficiently, needing just 80 pitches to make it through six frames. The 20-year-old right-hander has righted the ship in encouraging fashion after an erratic start to the season, as this was his second straight strong outing coming off a five-inning, nine-strikeout effort in his last start.

  • Casey Mize SP | SD

Tigers' Casey Mize: Exits start with injury

Mize was removed from Thursday's start at Double-A Erie after suffering an apparent injury, Brad Galli of WXYZ Detroit reports.

Mize looked uncomfortable after firing a pitch, so he was lifted from the game. The Tigers have yet to disclose details surrounding the injury.
