  • Domingo German SP | PIT

    Yankees' Domingo German: Wins again

German (9-1) got the win against the Orioles on Tuesday, giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits over five innings, striking out five and walking one as the Yankees won 11-4.

The right-hander continues to rack up wins at a torrid rate to start the season, as this was his ninth victory in 10 decisions. Although this wasn't his greatest stat line, German still has the look of a breakout performer so far in 2019. His lights-out record is supported by a 2.60 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 57:16 K:BB through 55.1 innings.

  • Dean Kremer SP | MIN

Orioles' Dean Kremer: Promoted to Double-A

Kremer was promoted to Double-A Bowie on Tuesday, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

He missed the first month of the minor-league season with an oblique injury, but after tossing 9.2 scoreless innings with 14 strikeouts over his first two starts at High-A, he quickly ascends to the Double-A level, where he made nine starts in 2018.

  • Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX

Red Sox's Nathan Eovaldi: Making good progress

Eovaldi (elbow) threw a 35-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

He was able to throw his secondary pitches for the first time since undergoing late-April surgery to remove loose bodies in his right elbow. Eovaldi said he felt fine after the bullpen session. He should continue to build up his workload and could return to the big-league rotation in early-to-mid-June.

  • Jesus Luzardo SP | PHI

Athletics' Jesus Luzardo: To face hitters Saturday

Luzardo (shoulder) will throw to hitters Saturday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The prized southpaw continues to trend in the right direction. He could be pitching in minor-league games by the end of the month, and from there it may only be a few weeks until he has completed his version of a full spring training. Prior to the mid-March shoulder injury, Luzardo was a candidate to open the year in the big-league rotation, and he could make his big-league debut before the All-Star break if everything goes perfectly from here.

  • Tyler Glasnow SP | LAD

Rays' Tyler Glasnow: Pain-free, progressing well

Glasnow (forearm) said Tuesday that he is pain free and he will progress to throwing a baseball soon, Steve Carney of Sports Radio 620 WDAE reports.

He threw a tennis ball Tuesday and has been doing cardio and weightlifting on the side. Glasnow is progressing better than expected and says he will be back sooner than later. The initial timetable was 4-to-6 weeks back on May 11, and while his recovery is going well, it would still be wise to view a mid-June return as the best-case scenario.

  • James Paxton SP | BOS

Yankees' James Paxton: Could return to rotation next week

Paxton (knee) will throw a three-inning/60-pitch simulated game Friday and if that goes well, he could rejoin the rotation next week, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

There was hope that he would be able to return this week, but he needed a couple extra bullpen sessions before he was essentially pain free. If he emerges from Friday's sim game feeling like he felt after Tuesday's bullpen session, he could return to the rotation May 29 against the Padres.

  • Tommy Milone SP | SEA

Mariners' Tommy Milone: Contract selected for start Tuesday

Milone's contract was selected from Triple-A Tacoma prior to his start Tuesday against the Rangers.

With Felix Hernandez (lat) on the 10-day injured list, Milone should hold the fifth spot in the rotation in the short term as long as he doesn't completely implode, but that is also a real possibility. The 32-year-old journeyman has a 4.62 FIP and 43:12 K:BB in 49.1 innings at Triple-A. This is not a favorable matchup, given the hitter-friendly ballpark in Texas.

  • Kris Bubic RP | LAD

Royals' Kris Bubic: Moves up to High-A

The Royals promoted Bubic from Low-A Lexington to High-A Wilmington on Tuesday.

Bubic will move on to his third minor-league stop since being selected with the 40th overall pick in the 2018 first-year player draft. The southpaw faced little resistance from South Atlantic League hitters through the first two months of the season, posting a 2.08 ERA and 0.89 WHIP to go with an eye-popping 75 strikeouts in 47.2 innings.

  • Nestor Cortes SP | PHI

Yankees' Nestor Cortes: Back to Triple-A

Cortes was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

He has made two appearances for the big club this season, giving up three earned runs in each outing while striking out nine over a total of six frames. David Hale's contract was selected as a corresponding move.

  • Andrew Heaney RP | LAD

Angels' Andrew Heaney: Dominates in rehab start

Heaney (elbow) tossed 4.1 scoreless innings in his rehab start Monday with Triple-A Salt Lake. He gave up two hits and one walk and struck out 10.

Making his first appearance in affiliated ball this season, Heaney pumped in 46 of his 73 pitches for strikes while making quick work of a quality Las Vegas lineup. The elevated pitch count makes it likely that Heaney won't require another rehab start in the minors before returning from the 10-day injured list, but the Angels will likely wait and see how he looks during a between-starts bullpen session until ruling on his next step. He's tentatively being penciled in for his 2019 Angels debut Sunday at home versus the Rangers.
