  • Wade Miley SP | CIN

Astros' Wade Miley: Fans seven in quality start

Miley didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 10-4 win over the Twins, giving up three runs on three hits and a walk over six innings while striking out a season-high seven.

The southpaw settled down after serving up a three-run shot to Eddie Rosario in the first inning, and Miley seemed headed for his second win of the year before Minnesota was able to tie things up at 4-4 in the top of the seventh. Instead, the 32-year-old had to settle for his third quality start in five trips to the mound. He'll carry a 3.58 ERA and 18:5 K:BB through 27.2 innings into his next outing, at home against Cleveland on Sunday.

  • Tigers' Spencer Turnbull: Picks up win in nightcap

Turnbull (1-2) tossed five scoreless innings to grab the win in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Red Sox. He gave up three hits and four walks while striking out two.

Taking on the Red Sox at Fenway Park is no easy task, but Turnbull was up for it. The righty didn't dominate, as he needed 94 pitches to get through five innings and he struck out just the two hitters, but he was able to effectively scatter baserunners and not give up any extra-base hits. Turnbull will take a stellar 2.77 ERA into his next outing, likely to come next week against either the Phillies or Royals.

  • Jesus Luzardo SP | PHI

Athletics' Jesus Luzardo: Set to throw from 90 feet

Luzardo (shoulder) is scheduled to throw from 90 feet Wednesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Luzardo only began his throwing program within the past couple weeks and has recently been throwing from 75 feet. The 21-year-old has been sidelined with a strained rotator cuff in his left (throwing) shoulder since late March and seems likely to require about another month before returning to game action.

  • Indians' Carlos Carrasco: Heading for MRI

Carrasco will undergo an MRI on his left knee after leaving Tuesday's game against the Marlins, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Carrasco exited Tuesday's game after he collided with a baserunner while covering first base in the fourth inning. The 32-year-old completed the inning, but apparently the knee tightened up between frames, leading to his removal. More information should be available Wednesday.

  • Drew Smyly SP | CHC

Rangers' Drew Smyly: Not facing extended absence

Smyly (arm) is expected to miss one or two starts while on the injured list, Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports.

Smyly was placed on the 10-day IL earlier Tuesday -- retroactive to Saturday -- but it doesn't appear to be a significant injury. The 29-year-old will first be eligible to be activated April 30 versus the Pirates.

  • Yusei Kikuchi SP | LAA

Mariners' Yusei Kikuchi: Shortened start set for Friday

Kikuchi will serve as a one- or two-inning opener in Friday's start against the Rangers, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Friday's shortened start will be the first of several this season for Kikuchi as a part of the Mariners' maintenance program for his transition to the more demanding MLB schedule. Justus Sheffield will be called up from Triple-A Tacoma to follow Kikuchi and serve as the team's primary pitcher Friday.

  • Indians' Carlos Carrasco: Exits after collision

Carrasco left Tuesday's game against the Marlins with left knee discomfort after a collision at first base, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Carrasco came up limping after colliding with Neil Walker when covering first base during the fourth inning. The 32-year-old tested out the knee and was able to finish the inning, but did not return for the fifth. He allowed two hits and struck out four over four scoreless innings. It remains unclear how the injury will impact Carrasco's availability for his next turn through the rotation.

  • Drew Smyly SP | CHC

Rangers' Drew Smyly: Placed on injured list

Smyly was placed on the 10-day injured list due to left mid-arm nerve tightness, retroactive to Saturday, Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports.

Smyly lasted just 3.2 innings in his last start against the Astros and surrendered four runs, although it's unclear if this arm issue had anything to do with his poor outing. It's unknown if he'll require longer than the 10-day minimum on the shelf at this point.

  • Brad Keller RP | PHI

    Royals' Brad Keller: Drops appeal

Keller dropped his appeal of his suspension Tuesday and will begin serving the ban right away, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.

Keller was hit with a five-game suspension for throwing at the White Sox's Tim Anderson. He kept up an appeal long enough to make his scheduled start Monday and will now enjoy a few extra days of rest, pushing his next outing to Monday against the Rays but not missing any turns in the rotation.

  • Matthew Boyd SP | CHC

Tigers' Matthew Boyd: Notches second win

Boyd (2-1) allowed three runs over seven innings and earned his second win in Tuesday's 7-4 victory over the Red Sox in the first game of a doubleheader. He gave up three hits, walked two and struck out three.

Boyd has been excellent to start the season, as he now has a 3.16 ERA through five starts, with a stellar 39:9 K:BB across 31.1 innings. The lefty will look to stay hot in his next scheduled start Sunday on the road against the White Sox.
