  • White Sox's Lucas Giolito: Struggles again Saturday

Giolito (4-7) did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing five runs on six hits over 5.1 innings against the Tigers. He walked two and struck out six.

Giolito gave up a pair of home runs to Nick Castellos which accounted for all five runs allowed. The 23-year-old now has a 7.19 ERA and 1.64 WHIP with an abysmal 40:45 K:BB over 71.1 innings, and is next expected to start against Oakland on Thursday.

  • Juan Nicasio SP | TEX

Mariners' Juan Nicasio: Could be activated Tuesday

Nicasio (knee) threw successful live batting practice Saturday and could be activated from the disabled list as early as Tuesday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports. "I feel really good," Nicasio said. "I didn't feel anything [in my knee]. I'm ready. I'm happy now that it doesn't hurt."

Nicasio also did some fielding drills. As long as his knee doesn't act up in the coming days, it sounds like the veteran reliever will be cleared to return from the disabled list when the Mariners begin a road trip Tuesday. Nicasio, despite struggling to a 5.34 ERA prior to landing on the shelf, should slide back into a high-leverage relief role upon reinstatement.

  • Luis Severino SP | ATH

Yankees' Luis Severino: Tosses eight scoreless innings

Severino (10-2) earned the win against the Rays on Saturday with eight scoreless innings, allowing only three hits and two walks while striking out nine.

Severino pitched a gem Saturday, throwing 71 of his 102 pitches for strikes and completely stifling Tampa Bay's bats. The 24-year-old's stellar season continues as he now has a 2.09 ERA and 0.93 WHIP with a 118:25 K:BB over 99 innings. He next lines up to start against the Mariners on Thursday.

  • Shane Bieber SP | TOR

Indians' Shane Bieber: Will start Sunday for Indians

Bieber will be recalled from Triple-A Columbus to start Sunday's game against the Twins, T.J. Zuppe of The Athletic Cleveland reports.

Bieber was bypassed when the Indians required a fifth starter last week in favor of Adam Plutko, but will now have a spot start Sunday in Minnesota. Plutko was scheduled to start, but came out of the bullpen Saturday after Carlos Carrasco was forced to leave the game in the second inning after being struck in the forearm by a line drive.

  • Indians' Carlos Carrasco: Heading for X-rays

Carrasco was diagnosed with a right forearm bruise and is heading to the hospital to undergo X-rays, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Carrasco was hit by a line drive off the bat of Joe Mauer in the second inning Saturday, subsequently exiting the game. The severity of the injury will hopefully be clarified by the X-rays, and the 31-year-old's availability for his next scheduled start -- Friday against the Tigers -- remains up in the air.

  • Indians' Carlos Carrasco: Leaves after getting hit by liner

Carrasco was removed from Saturday's game against the Twins after getting hit in the arm by a line drive, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

The severity of the injury isn't yet clear, but he was down on one knee for some time before exiting with a trainer. His next start, expected to come Friday against the Tigers, could be in doubt.

  • Corey Kluber SP | BOS

Indians' Corey Kluber: Toppled by Twins on Friday

Kluber (10-4) took the loss Friday, allowing four runs on four hits and a walk over five innings while striking out three as Cleveland fell 6-3 to the Twins.

Klubot looked downright human in this one, walking his first batter in over a month, allowing multiple homers for the first time in seven starts and turning in his shortest outing of the season. He only threw 65 pitches, so expect the right-hander to be fresh and focused when he next takes the mound Wednesday at home against the White Sox.

  • Michael Kopech SP | LAD

White Sox's Michael Kopech: Turbulent start Thursday

Kopech allowed five runs on two hits and a season-high eight walks for Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday.

Kopech threw just 35 of his 86 pitches for strikes and hit two batters in another reminder that the right-hander is not quite ready for the majors. "I'm sure the coaching staff down there is trying to help him through this particular difficulty, so to speak. But it's not unusual. It's not abnormal. It happens to guys, and hopefully he'll be back on track and continue to show some of the things we all expect he's going to become, which is a pretty talented and effective pitcher," manager Rick Renteria told Tom Musick of the Chicago Sun-Times. Kopech has walked 33 batters over his last 35 innings (8.5 BB/9).

  • Kyle Gibson SP | BAL

Twins' Kyle Gibson: Shuts down Cleveland for win

Gibson gave up just one run over seven innings with four walks and three strikeouts to improve to 2-4 in Friday's win over Cleveland.

Gibson outdueled Corey Kluber in a surprise win. Gibson continues to be an unexpected success story this season as he lowered his ERA to 3.27. He's taken a significant leap in his strikeout rate to 8.8 K/9 after failing to get above 7.0 K/9 in his first five major-league seasons.

  • Charlie Morton SP | ATL

Astros' Charlie Morton: Strikes out nine in win Friday

Morton (8-1) struck out nine and walked four in a win over the Royals on Friday, allowing three runs on four hits in six innings.

Morton gave up a two-run double to Mike Moustakas in the third and later walked Moustakas with the bases loaded in the fifth. The walks were again a problem for Morton (he walked six in 3.2 innings in his previous start), but he was still able to come away with the win thanks to an Evan Gattis grand slam. The right-hander holds a 2.94 ERA and 1.14 WHIP along with an excellent 105:33 K:BB in 82.2 innings. His next matchup will be against the Rays in a start at home.
