  • White Sox's Lucas Giolito: Tosses seven scoreless innings

Giolito spun a seven-inning shutout in his start Tuesday with Triple-A Charlotte, surrendering four hits and three walks while striking out six batters.

It's the second seven-inning shutout in four starts for Giolito, but the right-hander is still searching for consistency, as he sandwiched the two quality starts around a pair of dud outings in which he gave up a combined eight runs over six innings. According to Michael Leboff of MiLB.com, Giolito indicated that he's been able to spot his off-speed pitches effectively, but is still having difficulty commanding his fastball. If he can improve in the latter area over his subsequent outings, Giolito could receive a promotion to the big leagues in September as the rebuilding White Sox look to assess their younger rotation options.

  • Dylan Bundy SP | NYM

Orioles' Dylan Bundy: Next start pushed back

Bundy will make his next start Tuesday against the Royals, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

Bundy was expected to take the hill this weekend against the Rangers, but manager Buck Showalter elected to slide the right-hander down in the rotation following the team's scheduled day off Thursday. During his prior start versus Houston on Sunday, Bundy allowed seven runs on eight hits and three walks over 5.1 innings of work, marking his worst start of the season. He will take the extended time off to rest and clear his head, while Kevin Gausman and Wade Miley are set to toe the rubber Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

  • Rays' Jake Odorizzi: Lands on DL with lower-back issue

Odorizzi was placed on the 10-day disabled list Wednesday due to a lower-back strain, Steve Carney of Sports Radio 620 WDAE reports.

Odorizzi lasted just four innings in his most recent start Sunday against the Rangers, but it was believed that his early departure had more to do with a high pitch count than any sort of injury. Evidently, the right-hander was in fact hurting, so he'll be shuttled to the DL for the third time this season. Odorizzi was in line to make his next start Friday against the Yankees, but the Rays will now be forced to turn to either long reliever Erasmo Ramirez or one of their starters in the minor-league ranks to fill Odorizzi's spot in the rotation.

  • Mike Clevinger RP | PIT

Indians' Mike Clevinger: Hit hard by Angels on Tuesday

Clevinger gave up six runs (five earned) on nine hits and two walks over 4.1 innings but came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's extra-inning win over the Angels. He struck out five.

Cleveland's offense staked him to a 7-0 lead after two innings but Clevinger wasn't able to take advantage, giving up homers to Kole Calhoun in the third and Luis Valbuena in the fifth before the right-hander was chased from the game. The rough outing ended a streak of four straight quality starts for Clevinger, but he still has a strong 3.20 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 78:35 K:BB in 70.1 innings on the year headed into his next start Monday in Boston.

  • Wade Miley SP | CIN

Orioles' Wade Miley: Struggles continue Tuesday

Miley (4-9) gave up five runs on five hits and three walks over six innings while striking out four in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Rays.

All five runs crossed the plate in the second inning, capped by Tim Beckham's three-run homer. Miley's now surrendered 17 runs -- including four home runs -- over his last 15.2 innings, leaving him with an ugly 5.69 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and 1.5 HR/9 on the year. The left-hander will next take the mound Monday at home against the Royals.

  • Jose Berrios SP | TOR

Twins' Jose Berrios: Stuck in loss column by Dodgers

Berrios (9-4) gave up four runs on seven hits and a walk over just four innings in Tuesday's road loss to the Dodgers. He struck out three.

It's been a bumpy ride lately for the talented Puerto Rican righty. After putting up a 2.67 ERA and 0.91 WHIP in his first eight starts of 2017, he's seen those numbers swell to 3.76 and 1.20, respectively, thanks to his struggles this month. Berrios put up a positive outing against the Yankees last Wednesday, seemingly putting an end to his July skid, but this was a step backward. He's still a credible fantasy starter and a spectacular keeper-league asset, but it wouldn't hurt to be careful with how you use him. With the Twins scheduled for off days Thursday and Monday, Berrios may not start again until next Tuesday in San Diego -- a much friendlier matchup.

  • Cole Hamels SP | SD

Rangers' Cole Hamels: Wins despite allowing four runs

Hamels (5-1) gave up four runs on six hits and two walks over six innings in Tuesday's win over Miami. He struck out five.

Christian Yelich got to him for an RBI double in the first inning and a three-run homer in the fifth, the latter of which ruined Hamels' fantasy line, but his team put up 10 runs of support, which always helps. At 33 years old and with heavy mileage on his arm, Hamels appears to have entered a stunningly steep decline phase -- his 5.3 K/9 and 4.97 FIP are both career worsts by far -- but he's shown enough promise since coming off the DL in late June that fantasy owners shouldn't give up on him yet, especially in leagues that reward quality starts.

  • Yankees' Jordan Montgomery: Shuts down Reds for seventh win of season

Montgomery (7-5) allowed one run on two hits and one walk across 6.2 innings in Tuesday's win over the Reds. He struck out six.

Montgomery cruised for most of the afternoon, needing just 85 pitches to make it into the seventh inning for the first time in a month. The only run on his ledger came via a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning after Scott Schebler made his way to third, lowering his ERA to 3.92 on the season. This quality start was a positive sign for Montgomery after he'd allowed 14 runs over his previous 19.2 innings, and he will look to build off this performance in Sunday's start against the Rays.

  • Sonny Gray SP | BOS

Athletics' Sonny Gray: Betrayed by defense Tuesday

Gray (6-5) allowed four runs -- all unearned -- on five hits and two walks over six innings in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Blue Jays. He struck out nine.

The crucial error was Gray's own, as it contributed to a four-run second inning by the Jays, but he settled down after that and kept the A's in the game. The right-hander's now reeled off six straight quality starts, posting a 1.37 ERA and 36:9 K:BB in 39.1 innings over that stretch and doing everything he can to maximize the return Oakland might get for him at the trade deadline. Assuming he's not in another uniform by then, Gray's next start would come Monday at home against the Giants.

  • Charlie Morton SP | ATL

Astros' Charlie Morton: Fans nine over seven scoreless frames Tuesday

Morton (8-4) tossed seven scoreless innings Tuesday, allowing three hits and a walk while striking out nine in a 5-0 win over the Phillies.

He threw 71 of 105 pitches for strikes in dominating Philadelphia and recording his fifth quality start of the year. Morton has now won three of four outings since coming off the DL, posting a 3.28 ERA and 27:8 K:BB in 24.2 innings over that stretch. The right-hander will next take the mound Tuesday at home against the Rays.
