Festa (1-2) took the loss Sunday against the Brewers, allowing eight runs on 12 hits and three walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out three.

It was a rough day for Festa, who made his first appearance behind an opener this season. He gave up a solo home run to Rhys Hoskins, the first batter he faced, in the second inning before Brice Turang added on with a three-run blast in the fifth. Festa's ERA sits at 10.00 over his last four outings (18 innings). Overall, his ERA is up to 6.39 this season with a 1.61 WHIP and 32 strikeouts across 31 innings.

Gusto (5-3) picked up the win Sunday against the Angels, allowing five runs on six hits and no walks over six innings. He struck out seven.

Gusto surrendered a pair of homers during his start, yielding a two-run home run to Logan O'Hoppe in the fourth inning and a three-run shot to Nolan Schanuel in the fifth. Gusto was solid outside of the pair of round trippers and didn't issue a walk for the first time since his April 18 start against San Diego. He's now logged at least seven strikeouts in three straight starts after having not posted more than six Ks in an outing previously. He's on track to face the Cubs his next time out.

Hendricks didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Astros, allowing five runs (three earned) on eight hits and one walk over five-plus innings. He struck out two.

Hendricks didn't allow a run in the first four innings of Sunday's start, but he got into trouble in the fifth by yielding a pair of homers as part of a four-run frame for the Astros. In his last five outings, Hendricks has allowed 16 runs (13 earned) to go along with a 22:7 K:BB across 28.2 innings. He's slated to face the Nationals in his next start.

The Red Sox list Fitts as their probable starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Angels in Anaheim.

As expected, Fitts will slide right into the rotation spot vacated by Hunter Dobbins (elbow), who was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday. Fitts owns a 4.71 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 15:7 K:BB in 21 innings over five starts with the Red Sox this season, though a good chunk of that ratio damage came in a June 2 matchup against the Angels in which he surrendered three home runs in just one inning. After being optioned to Triple-A Worcester following that start, Fitts posted a 5.25 ERA and 1.42 WHIP in 12 innings before being recalled Sunday.

Rogers is slated to start Monday's game against the Rangers at Camden Yards, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Rogers had a lackluster return to the Baltimore rotation after being called up from Triple-A Norfolk last Wednesday, as he failed to escape the third inning of his start against the Rays while allowing three earned runs on five hits and three walks in a no-decision. Despite the poor showing, Rogers will get at least one more start while the banged-up Orioles are short on alternative options for the rotation. Since none of the six pitchers on the Orioles' injured list have even resumed facing hitters at this point, Rogers will tentatively line up for a two-start week, with his second outing expected to come Sunday versus Tampa Bay.

The Red Sox promoted Tolle from High-A Greenville to Double-A Portland on Sunday, Josh Ball of Beyond the Monster reports.

The 22-year-old lefty will move up to Double-A after producing a 3.62 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with 79 strikeouts over 49.2 innings in 11 appearances (10 starts) with Greenville this season. The No. 50 overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft, Tolle is less than a year into his professional career, but he's already established himself as one of Boston's top pitching propects.

Gilbert (2-2) allowed four runs on eight hits over five innings Sunday, striking out six and earning a win over the Cubs.

Gilbert gave up one run through four innings before the Cubs scored three in the fifth. All four runs scored against him came via home runs, including two by Seiya Suzuki, but Seattle's 14-run outburst still led to a victory. Gilbert entered Sunday with just four homers allowed through 35.1 innings this season. He's posted a 16:1 K:BB in 10 innings since returning from the injured list and now owns a 60:7 K:BB with a 3.12 ERA across eight appearances. Gilbert generated 18 whiffs on 90 pitches Sunday, including eight with his splitter. His next start is projected to be on the road against Texas.

Hicks (toe) retired two of the six batters he faced and allowed two earned runs on three hits and one walk in his rehab appearance Sunday with Triple-A Worcester.

Sunday's appearance marked Hicks' organizational debut, after the Giants placed him on the 15-day injured list June 3 before trading him to the Red Sox two weeks later. The right-hander didn't look sharp in his return to game action, as he needed 23 pitches (10 strikes) to record two outs and sported a fastball that averaged 95.5 miles per hour, about two ticks below his season average with the Giants. Boston manager Alex Cora previously said that Hicks was on track to return from the IL next weekend, though the 28-year-old's activation could be delayed if he's unable to show much improvement in his next rehab appearance.

Lugo did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 3-2 loss at San Diego, allowing one run on two hits and no walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out seven.

The veteran right-hander looked sharp against one of his former clubs, generating a solid 14 whiffs out of his 90 total pitches to secure his eighth quality start. The only blemish on Lugo's line came when he stranded Jackson Merrill upon his departure and reliever Angel Zerpa subsequently allowed the runner to score. Lugo now sports a 2.93 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 68:23 K:BB through 83 total innings. He lines up for a difficult test in his next appearance, currently scheduled to be against the Dodgers at home next weekend.

Giolito took a no-decision in Sunday's 9-5 loss at San Francisco, allowing four runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out five.

The veteran right-hander survived conceding two unearned runs in the third inning but fumbled away a two-run lead when he allowed solo homers to Casey Schmitt and Mike Yastrzemski in the fifth. Despite the pair of long balls yielded, Giolito continued his recent solid run of performances, collecting his third consecutive quality start. Since a six-run disaster against Atlanta on May 17, the 30-year-old has been dependable, pitching to a 2.87 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 29:11 K:BB across 31.1 frames. Giolito is currently slated to face the Blue Jays in a home series next weekend.
