Mariners' Emerson Hancock: No-decision vs. White Sox
Hancock did not factor into the decision in Seattle's 5-4 win over the White Sox on Wednesday. He allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four over five innings.
It's just the third time in 10 starts this year that Hancock was unable to make it through six innings. While he failed to come away with the win Wednesday, Hancock delivered another solid outing overall despite matching a season high with three walks. His ERA sits at 3.07 through 58.2 innings this year with a 1.06 WHIP and 60:13 K:BB. Hancock is tentatively lined up to face the A's on the road his next time out.

Mariners' Emerson Hancock: Submits quality start in loss
Hancock (3-2) allowed one run on five hits and a walk while striking out six over six innings to take the loss Friday versus the Padres.
Hancock was unlucky in this one, as the Padres were able to piece together a run in the fourth inning, and that was the difference. This was his sixth quality start in nine outings this season, and it's the fourth time he's avoided giving up a home run. Hancock is at a 3.02 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 56:10 K:BB through 53.2 innings. For now, he appears to have secured his spot in the rotation, though he can't afford an extended rough patch while the Mariners have six healthy starters. Hancock is tentatively projected to make his next start at home versus the White Sox.

Mariners' Emerson Hancock: Escapes with third win
Hancock (3-1) gave up five earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four batters in six innings to earn the win Friday over the White Sox.
After Hancock gave up a home run to Munetaka Murakami in the first inning, Seattle's offense responded by giving its starter a 5-1 lead to work with entering the bottom of the third. That lead quickly disappeared courtesy of a Sam Antonacci RBI single and Colson Montgomery's three-run double. Hancock retired nine of the next 11 batters he faced and came away with the win after exiting with a 6-5 lead. Despite the offensive onslaught from the White Sox, the 26-year-old righty still boasts a strong 3.21 ERA and 1.01 WHIP through 47.2 innings.

Mariners' Emerson Hancock: Move to bullpen under consideration
Hancock could be shifted to a relief role next week when Bryce Miller (oblique) returns, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.
Hancock has put together a breakout season in the early going, posting a 2.59 ERA and 46:6 K:BB over 41.2 innings in his first seven starts. He struck out a career-high 14 batters against the Royals in his last trip to the hill. However, while Hancock has been the Mariners' best starter so far this season, he also has bullpen experience. Hancock is slated to start Friday's game versus the White Sox, and the Mariners will make decisions on the roles for Hancock, Miller and Luis Castillo in the coming days.

Hancock did not factor into the decision in Saturday's 3-2 extra-inning loss to the Royals, allowing one run on six hits and no walks while striking out 14 over six innings.
Hancock dazzled, generating a whopping 21 swinging strikes on 103 pitches while setting a career high with 14 strikeouts. It's the most punchouts by any pitcher so far in 2026, and the 26-year-old has now gone at least five innings while yielding three earned runs or fewer in each of his seven outings to open the year. He'll carry a 2.59 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 46:6 K:BB across 41.2 innings into a road matchup against the White Sox next weekend.

Mariners' Emerson Hancock: Strong start continues Sunday
Hancock took a no-decision Sunday against the Cardinals, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out four.
While the right-hander did serve up a pair of home runs and threw only 53 of his 94 pitches for strikes, he still delivered a strong performance overall Sunday. Hancock pitched at least five frames in his sixth consecutive start to open the campaign, and he still hasn't given up more than three runs in any outing yet. Hancock is filling in admirably for the injured Bryce Miller (oblique), producing a 2.86 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 32:6 K:BB through 34.2 innings, and he'll be looking to continue his success against the Royals next weekend.

Mariners' Emerson Hancock: Tagged for three homers Monday
Hancock allowed three runs on seven hits and no walks while striking out three batters over five-plus innings in a no-decision against the Athletics on Monday.
Hancock held the A's to just one run (on a Carlos Cortes solo homer) through five frames, but he then served up back-to-back solo shots to Nick Kurtz and Shea Langeliers in the sixth before being pulled. It was just the second time through five outings that Hancock has been unable to complete six frames, and Monday marked the first time the right-hander has served up more than one long ball in a contest. Hancock has opened the campaign pitching quite well, posting a 2.83 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 28:4 K:BB through 28.2 innings.

Mariners' Emerson Hancock: Secures another quality start

Hancock logged his third quality start in four outings this season. He was working a shutout through five innings, but Xander Bogaerts' tagged him for a two-run home run in the sixth, which was just the second long ball Hancock's yielded this season.
