  • Yu Darvish SP | SD

Rangers' Yu Darvish: Aiming to make next scheduled start

Darvish, who exited Wednesday's game due to shoulder tightness, indicated after the game that he intends to make his next scheduled start Monday against the Athletics, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

The removal was reportedly precautionary, so Darvish making his next turn certainly shouldn't be ruled out. Those interested should track his progress in the coming days as it should be a good indicator of whether or not he'll be ready to go.

  • Ricky Nolasco SP | ARI

Twins' Ricky Nolasco: Avoids decision despite being beaten up by Marlins

Nolasco was rocked for five runs on 11 hits and a walk in 5.2 innings Wednesday against the Marlins, but was able to avoid taking the loss.

The 33-year-old righty spent the first seven-plus seasons of his career with the Marlins, mostly putting up the same mediocre-to-poor stat lines we've seen from him since he joined the Twins in 2014. Although Nolasco does own a surprisingly shiny 63:13 K:BB in 71.1 innings, he's one of the most hittable starters in baseball and rarely sustains any sort of successful stretch. Indeed, he'd turned in consecutive two-earned-run outings prior to this outing, only to set a new season high in hits allowed. If you're stuck rolling him out in fantasy, you're in a bad place.

  • Rays' Jake Odorizzi: Wins third game of year versus Diamondbacks

Odorizzi (3-3) allowed three runs on five hits, struck out eight and walked one over five innings in a 6-3 victory against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

The right-hander gave up a pair of runs in the second, including a solo homer to Rickie Weeks Jr., and another run in the third, but Odorizzi settled down to retire seven of the last eight batters he faced. He also picked up four strikeouts in the final two frames. The eight punchouts were his most in a game since he recorded 10 in his first outing of the year. Odorizzi will make his next start Tuesday against the Mariners.

  • Yu Darvish SP | SD

Rangers' Yu Darvish: Leaves Wednesday's game early with shoulder tightness

Darvish was removed from Wednesday's start against the Astros as a precaution after he began experiencing right shoulder tightness.

Darvish was examined by team doctors in the clubhouse soon after his exit, and fortunately for the right-hander they found no damage in his shoulder. He seems to have dodged a long-term injury, but it's unclear if the ailment is serious enough to warrant his next start to be skipped. The 29-year-old's next start is scheduled for Monday against the Athletics, so his status for that contest should become clearer as that date approaches.

  • Athletics' Henderson Alvarez: To begin rehab assignment Monday

Alvarez (shoulder) will throw 2-to-3 innings at High-A Stockton on Monday, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.

Monday will mark perhaps the biggest step in the right direction that Alvarez has had during his lengthy recovery from shoulder surgery. He'll toss 2-to-3 frames in a minor league game, which officially starts the clock towards him being activated off the DL within 30 days. Alvarez will gradually have his pitch count increase in each of his rehab outings, but it's unclear if he'll immediately be able to rejoin the A's rotation upon his activation in late-June or early-July.

  • Rich Hill SP | KC

Athletics' Rich Hill: Scratched from Saturday's start

Hill (groin) has been scratched from his next scheduled start on Saturday against the Reds after suffering a setback during a bullpen session, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports. He is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Thursday.

This is concerning news for Hill as this marks the second time in a row he's had his turn skipped in the rotation due to a groin issue. According to John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle, Hill suffered the setback at the very end of his bullpen session Wednesday and said that it felt very similar to when he initially suffered the injury on May 29. The A's will now need to find a spot starter for Saturday and possibly beyond in the event that Hill's MRI reveals a significant injury. More information on Hill's outlook figures to be made available following Thursday's MRI.

  • Drew Smyly SP | CHC

Rays' Drew Smyly: Next start pushed back

Smyly will have his next start pushed back with the Rays opting to give him a mental break, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

It doesn't appear as though there are any issues physically, but the Rays will look to give Smyly some time to clear his head after a dreadful stretch dating back to the start of May. He's currently slated to take his next start next Wednesday against the Mariners, with Chris Archer and Matt Moore each having their next scheduled starts moved forward to cover Smyly's absence one time through.

  • Matthew Boyd SP | CHC

Tigers' Matt Boyd: Limits Jays to three hits in no-decision

Boyd (0-1) battled through 5.1 innings against the Blue Jays in a no-decision Tuesday. He allowed just one run (a solo homer) on three hits while walking five and striking out five.

It was an admirable start for the left-hander against his old team (Boyd was part of last season's David Price deal between the Tigers and Jays) as he held the Birds hitless for four innings before Kevin Pillar homered to lead off the fifth. The five walks were a bit of a surprise considering he only had allowed a total of four free passes through his first three starts (16 innings). Boyd's high strand rate (78.3 percent) suggests that his 3.38 ERA is skating on thin ice. He's scheduled to toe the rubber again Monday on the road against the White Sox.

  • Wade Miley SP | CIN

Mariners' Wade Miley: Throws seven shutout innings in win over Cleveland

Miley (6-2) threw seven shutout innings, allowed just four hits and two walks, and struck out three in a win Tuesday over Cleveland.

Miley had allowed 14 runs in 8.2 innings over his past two starts and desperately needed a bounceback game like this one. Still, Miley has three shutout outings this year -- he threw a complete game shutout against the Royals against Kansas City on April 30 and threw six scoreless innings against Baltimore on May 17. None of those starts started a hot streak for Miley, and he has been too inconsistent to believe this will finally be the one that rights the ship. Despite his flashes of brilliance, Miley has a 5.27 ERA.

  • Dallas Keuchel SP | MIL

Astros' Dallas Keuchel: Continues struggles versus Texas

Keuchel fell to 3-8 Tuesday versus Texas, allowing four runs on 10 hits across 7.1 innings. He struck out eight.

Keuchel actually pitched quite well Tuesday, tying a season-high in punchouts and pitching into the eighth inning for just the second time, but he allowed a two-run home run to Ian Desmond with one out in the eight that ultimately decided the game. The left-hander continues to struggle versus the Rangers, as he now has a 8.75 ERA in his last four starts versus the in-state foe. He will look to get back on track Sunday at the Rays.
