  • Wade Miley SP | CIN

Mariners' Wade Miley: Falls to 0-2

Miley (0-2) allowed three runs on nine hits and four walks while striking out two over 3.2 innings to take the loss Tuesday at Cleveland.

Miley was fortunate that the Mariners' defense turned double plays in each of the first three innings, as he allowed 13 baserunners, but only three of them scored. He's been blasted in each of his three starts and his WHIP now stands at 1.91. He'll look to turn things around in his next start Sunday at the Angels.

  • Andrew Heaney RP | LAD

Angels' Andrew Heaney: Still feeling tightness in forearm

Heaney (forearm) is still feeling tightness when playing catch, Pedro Moura of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The left-hander's status has been clouded even further with this news. Manager Mike Scioscia did not so far as to describe it as a setback for Heaney, but did acknowledge that the 24-year-old has hit a "plateau" in his recovery. Team doctors said initially that Heaney's UCL was healthy, with the diagnosis being a flexor muscle strain, but it's always possible the Angels could seek another opinion if Heaney doesn't start making progress again soon.

  • Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez: Will make one more extended spring start

Rodriguez (knee) will make one more appearance in an extended spring training game Saturday before beginning a rehab assignment, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.

There was a chance Rodriguez would begin a rehab assignment Saturday, but the Red Sox want him to throw once more at their spring training complex before sending him out to an affiliate. He is scheduled to throw around 75 pitches Saturday, and as long as all goes well, he should begin his rehab stint at some point in the middle of next week.

  • Jose Berrios SP | TOR

Twins' Jose Berrios: Wildly effective through two starts

    Berrios, 21, has a 1.80 ERA and 13:7 K:BB through 10 innings for Triple-A Rochester.

The lack of control is unusual for Berrios, who posted a 175:38 K:BB between Double-A and Triple-A in 2015. Still, his stuff remains electric, and he could be promoted to the bigs following the Super 2 deadline.

  • Kevin Gausman SP | CHC

Orioles' Kevin Gausman: Making final rehab appearance Wednesday

Gausman (shoulder) will pitch for Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday before being activated off the DL, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

Gausman will work around five or six innings and is slated to throw 90 pitches. He's continued to have his return date pushed back as he deals with right shoulder tendinitis, but it appears as though the 25-year-old will be ready to rejoin the team following Wednesday's outing, which could put him in line for a start sometime early next week.

  • Athletics' Henderson Alvarez: Beginning rehab stint Wednesday

Alvarez (shoulder) is expected to begin a rehab stint with High-A Stockton on Wednesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

This marks a big step toward returning to the big leagues after Alvarez suffered a partial UCL tear last May, but the A's are expected to take it slowly with the 26-year-old. They're currently targeting a late-May or early-June return, but the timetable could change depending on how Alvarez feels following his first game action.

  • Yankees' James Kaprielian: Looking sharp to start the season

Kaprielian is 1-1 with a 0.75 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 12 innings through two starts with High-A Tampa this season.

The first round pick allowed just one hit through seven innings in his last start and is working to a minuscule .103 batting average against. If he keeps pitching like this, Kaprielian should continue moving up through the ranks, but at just 22 years old, the majors likely remain at least a year away.

  • Carlos Rodon SP | NYY

White Sox's Carlos Rodon: Dispatched in first inning by Angels

Rodon (1-2) couldn't make it out of the first inning in Monday's loss to the Angels, as he recorded just one out and allowed five runs on six hits and two walks.

Rodon tossed 41 pitches -- just 22 strikes -- and went through the whole Angels lineup before he was mercifully pulled. The only right spot here is that Rodon's first two starts were good enough that this disaster only raised his ERA to 4.73. These are the growing pains 23-year-old starting pitchers often experience; the promise he showed in the first two starts (13 innings, 12 strikeouts, 1.38 ERA) should speak louder than this blowup.

  • Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez: Will begin rehab assignment Saturday

Rodriguez (knee) will begin a rehab assignment with one of the Red Sox's affiliates as early as Saturday, the Boston Globe reports.

On Monday, Rodriguez completed a 55-pitch simulated game at the Red Sox's facility in Fort Myers, Fla., which has seemingly paved the way for the next step in the process. Because a return to the big league rotation is likely the desired result, he could log a few starts with an increasing pitch count with that aim in mind.

  • Corey Kluber SP | BOS

Indians' Corey Kluber: Roughed up in Sunday's loss

Kluber (0-3) dropped his third straight decision to begin the season Sunday, giving up six runs on nine hits and a walk over six innings while striking out eight as the Indians fell 6-0 to the Mets.

He was the victim of some bad defense and unfavorable decisions by the official scorer, as Rajai Davis lost two fly balls in the sun which were ruled hits and not errors, contributing to a three-run second inning. Kluber's 19:5 K:BB through 19 innings on the season is excellent, though, and arguably more reflective of his performance than his unsightly 6.16 ERA. He'll try to turn things around in his next start Saturday, on the road in Detroit.
