Soriano (4-5) picked up the win Friday after throwing six shutout innings, allowing four hits and four walks. He recorded two strikeouts during the 4-1 victory over the Guardians.

Soriano rebounded nicely from his shortest start in six outings with a shutdown performance against the Guardians. He didn't have his best stuff, tying his season high for walks with four and striking out just two batters, but he was effective nonetheless. That 26-year-old made it six outings in a row allowing three runs or fewer.

Giolito didn't factor into the decision Friday against Atlanta after allowing one run on five hits and two walks in 4.2 innings. He struck out three.

It was a respectable performance from Giolito, who kept the ball in the yard and didn't surrender any extra-base hits. The veteran right-hander has given up six runs on a pair of occasions this season, which has considerably damaged his ratios, and he's reached the fifth inning in just three of his first six appearances while posting quality starts in the other three. Giolito has a 4.78 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 26:10 K:BB over 32 innings, and he shapes up as a volatile fantasy option versus the Angels in his next scheduled outing.

Ortiz (2-6) was hit with the loss Friday despite allowing just one run on seven hits and two walks while striking out five over six innings in a 4-1 loss against the Angels.

Ortiz probably deserved better after working through six innings and allowing just one run. The Guardians trailed 1-0 when he departed the game, and as a result, he gets tagged with the loss. It continues an unfortunate pattern for the 26-year-old, who has allowed three runs or fewer in four straight starts (2.86 ERA), but is 0-3 over that same timeframe.

Bassitt (5-3) earned the win against the Athletics on Friday, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out six across five innings.

Bassitt started out strong by retiring the side in the first inning, but he proceeded to give up at least one run in each of the next four frames, including solo home runs to Tyler Soderstrom and Shea Langeliers in the second and fourth, respectively. It was the second straight game in which Bassitt yielded five earned runs, but he got enough run support from the Blue Jays' batters to come away with his third win in May. He has a 3.80 ERA and 1.36 WHIP across 66.1 innings this season, and his 69 strikeouts rank 11th in the American League. Bassitt will look for win No. 6 of the season in his next start, tentatively slated for next week on the road against the Twins.

Eflin (4-2) earned the win against the White Sox on Friday, allowing four hits and one walk while striking out six over seven scoreless innings.

Eflin threw 67 of 99 pitches for strikes and generated 12 whiffs in his best outing of the season. It was an encouraging bounce-back performance after the 31-year-old allowed seven home runs over his previous two starts. He owns a 4.46 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 24:6 K:BB across 40.1 innings this season and will look to build on this momentum in a road matchup with the Mariners next week.

Burke (3-6) took the loss against the Orioles on Friday, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk with six strikeouts over six innings.

Burke pitched six innings in bulk relief and was effective outside of a two-run sixth frame. The 25-year-old turned in a solid May, allowing two earned runs or fewer in five of his six appearances while logging three quality starts. He'll take a 4.20 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 45:31 K:BB across 60 innings into a challenging home matchup against the Tigers next week.

Gil (lat) threw a bullpen session Friday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Manager Aaron Boone said earlier in the week that Gil would begin throwing off a mound Friday if he continued to progress well in his rehab, and it appears the 26-year-old righty is right on schedule. His first bullpen session since spring training saw him throw just 15 pitches, so he still has a long way to go before rejoining the Yankees' rotation. A return timeline may begin to emerge once he's cleared to resume facing hitters.

Manager Bruce Bochy said Friday that Eovaldi (triceps) will have his next turn through the rotation pushed back a few days, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

The veteran right-hander was originally expected to make his next turn through the rotation as scheduled Tuesday after departing his previous start due to triceps soreness, but the Rangers will instead take advantage of Monday's team off day to get him some extra rest. That lines up Eovaldi to pitch during next weekend's three-game set in Washington, giving him at least nine days to recover between outings.

Jobe was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday with a Grade 1 flexor strain, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Sawyer Gipson-Long (elbow), who is coming off a dominant rehab start for Triple-A Toledo, is the likely replacement in the rotation. Jobe had a 5.28 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and 25:17 K:BB in 29 innings over his last six starts.

The Tigers claimed Cusick off waivers Friday and optioned him to Triple-A Toledo.

The right-hander was designated for assignment by the A's earlier in the week but will remain on a 40-man roster with the Tigers. Cusick has spent the season at the Triple-A level and has a 6.75 ERA, 1.97 WHIP and 11:13 K:BB over 14.2 innings.
