Patrick Corbin SP | TOR
Rangers' Patrick Corbin: Will join new team after camp
Corbin will not join the Rangers in Arizona for the final few days of camp as he awaits the imminent birth of his child, but he will meet the team in Texas, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.
Corbin inked a one-year deal with Texas on Tuesday, but his first game action with the new club will have to wait. The Rangers wrap up their Cactus League schedule March 22 before heading home to Arlington to play two exhibition games against the Royals on March 24 and 25.

Max Scherzer SP | TOR
Blue Jays' Max Scherzer: Hopes to pitch in game this weekend
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Tuesday that he's hopeful Scherzer (thumb) can pitch in a game this weekend, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Scherzer is dealing with a nagging right thumb issue that, according to Schneider, felt "probably a little bit better than I think he expected" Tuesday. The pitcher has said the injury begins to flare up on him around 50 pitches, but he's trying to get a better handle on it while working with a hand specialist, doctors and trainers. Scherzer is considered day-to-day.

Jon Gray SP | TEX
Rangers' Jon Gray: Heads to 60-day injured list
The Rangers placed Gray (wrist) on the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Patrick Corbin, who was inked to a one-year contract Tuesday. Gray now won't be eligible to make his season debut until late May as he recovers from a fractured right wrist.

Patrick Corbin SP | TOR
Rangers' Patrick Corbin: Lands deal with Texas
Corbin agreed to a one-year, major-league contract with the Rangers on Tuesday.
The rumor mill was pretty quiet on Corbin throughout the offseason, but he secured a big-league deal with Texas, as Jon Gray (wrist) and Cody Bradford (elbow) are facing extended absences. Corbin has rated as the worst regular starting pitcher in baseball over the past four years and finished the 2024 campaign with a 5.62 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 139:54 K:BB across 174.2 innings. The left-hander brings some veteran stability to a depleted rotation with at least 31 starts in each of those four seasons, but he isn't likely to be fantasy relevant given his recent track record.

Clarke Schmidt SP | NYY
Yankees' Clarke Schmidt: Slated for live BP on Thursday
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday that Schmidt (shoulder) is slated to throw a live batting practice session Thursday, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.
The Yankees had left open the possibility that Schmidt would start Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against Atlanta, but the team has opted to have him throw in a more controlled setting instead. Schmidt should be able to get in a start after that, whether it's in Grapefruit League play or in a minor-league game. The hope is that Schmidt will be ready for his season debut April 3 versus the Diamondbacks, but Boone said it's not a guarantee.

Grayson Rodriguez SP | LAA
Orioles' Grayson Rodriguez: Throws from 75 feet
Rodriguez (elbow) began his throwing program by playing catch from 75 feet Tuesday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
The right-hander has been shut down from throwing for nearly two weeks, so his buildup is likely to be slow and steady for the time being. Rodriguez doesn't have an official timeline for his return, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him miss the first month of the season.

Chayce McDermott P | LAD
Orioles' Chayce McDermott: Throws light side session
McDermott (lat) threw a light bullpen session Tuesday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
McDermott began a throwing progression two weeks ago and continues to be built back up slowly as he comes back from a mild lat/teres strain. He will not be ready in time for Opening Day and is likely to join the rotation at Triple-A Norfolk once he's physically able.

Luis Garcia SP | NYY
Astros' Luis Garcia: Set for live BP on Thursday
Garcia (elbow) will throw a live batting practice session Thursday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Garcia has been slow-played in the Astros' camp after he encountered multiple setbacks last season while working his way back from Tommy John surgery. At last check, he was still working on regaining some zip on his fastball, and it's not clear where his velocity currently stands. When Garcia might be able to appear in games is a bit of a mystery, but he's getting closer.

Huascar Ynoa SP | LAA
Twins' Huascar Ynoa: Sent to minor-league camp
The Twins reassigned Ynoa to minor-league camp Tuesday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Ynoa made 31 appearances (24 starts) in the majors for Atlanta from 2019 through 2022, but he hasn't seen big-league action since while missing extensive time due to Tommy John surgery and a shoulder injury. The 26-year-old righty linked up with the Twins on a minor-league deal in December and has enjoyed good health in the spring, but his mediocre numbers in the Grapefruit League (5.79 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 4:2 K:BB in 4.2 innings) prevented him from making a serious run at an Opening Day roster spot. Ynoa worked one inning or less in each of his five spring appearances, perhaps signaling that the Twins intend to deploy him out of the bullpen at Triple-A St. Paul after he had mostly been used as a starter during his time in the Atlanta organization.

Darren McCaughan RP | CIN
Twins' Darren McCaughan: Fails to make cut
The Twins reassigned McCaughan to Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
McCaughan made 12 appearances (five starts) in the big leagues between stops with the Guardians and Marlins in 2024, logging a 6.21 ERA and 1.62 WHIP in 42 innings. He joined the Twins on a minor-league deal in December and never made much of a run at an Opening Day roster spot while the Minnesota pitching staff has enjoyed relatively sound health this spring. McCaughan is expected to report to Triple-A St. Paul, where he could be deployed in the rotation or in long relief.
