Jonathan Bowlan RP | PHI
Royals' Jonathan Bowlan: Promoted Tuesday
The Royals recalled Bowlan from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.
The right-hander allowed four runs over 2.2 frames in a spot start for Kansas City in late April, but he's otherwise been with Omaha this season. Bowlan has a 4.93 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 80:30 K:BB over 84 innings at Triple-A this season. It appears he's joining the big club as a reliever for the stretch run, considering he worked out of the bullpen in his last four appearances for Omaha.

Cole Irvin RP | LAD
Orioles' Cole Irvin: DFA'd by Baltimore
The Orioles designated Irvin for assignment Tuesday, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.
The left-hander was demoted to the bullpen in early July and has now been removed from the 26-man and 40-man rosters entirely. Irvin had a respectable 4.06 ERA in 14 starts but surrendered 17 earned runs over 19.1 innings of relief.

Ryan Zeferjahn P | LAA
Angels' Ryan Zeferjahn: Headed to Halos
The Angels acquired Zeferjahn, outfielder Matthew Lugo, infielder Niko Kavadas and right-hander Yeferson Vargas from the Red Sox on Tuesday in exchange for right-hander Luis Garcia, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
A 26-year-old righty with zero big-league experience, Zeferjahn has a 5.47 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 31 strikeouts in 24.2 innings across 18 appearances for Triple-A Worcester. He has seven saves across Double-A and Triple-A this season and has no trouble missing bats, but his 14.8 percent walk rate at Triple-A is a red flag, especially given his age.

Eric Silva SP | DET
Tigers' Eric Silva: Sent to Detroit
The Giants traded Silva to the Tigers on Tuesday in exchange for Mark Canha, Kiley McDaniel of ESPN.com reports.
Silva has spent the entirety of 2024 with Double-A Richmond, where he's logged a 4.35 ERA and 1.17 WHIP through 41.1 innings. He'll likely remain at the Double-A level upon joining the Tigers organization.

Trey McGough SP | NYM
White Sox's Trey McGough: Shipped to White Sox
The Orioles traded McGough to the White Sox on Tuesday in exchange for Eloy Jimenez, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
McGough began the 2024 campaign in Double-A but quickly earned a promotion to Triple-A, where he's remained effective with a 2.08 ERA and 1.11 WHIP through 34.2 innings out of the bullpen. Given his production in the minors and the White Sox's lack of MLB bullpen depth, it's possible the 26-year-old southpaw cracks the major leagues before the end of the season.

Gerrit Cole SP | NYY
Yankees' Gerrit Cole: Hoping to start this weekend
Cole (general fatigue) reiterated he's not dealing with an arm issue after being scratched from Tuesday's start against the Phillies, and he expects to pitch this weekend versus the Blue Jays, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Cole has also been battling a stomach bug this week, per Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News, so taking few extra days to rest should be beneficial. Cole's status over the next few days will be worth monitoring, but there doesn't appear to be any long-term concerns. Will Warren is making his MLB debut Tuesday for the Yankees.

Luis Garcia SP | NYY
Astros' Luis Garcia: Throws two simulated innings
Garcia (elbow) threw 30 pitches split across two simulated innings Tuesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Garcia faced hitters Tuesday and was able to reach 93 miles per hour during the session, which is in line with his normal fastball velocity. While the right-hander will still require a rehab assignment, the expectation is that Garcia will join the Astros before the regular season ends.

Jacob deGrom SP | TEX
Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Session on tap for 45 pitches
DeGrom (elbow) will throw a 45-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
DeGrom is expected to throw two total bullpen sessions on this road trip before facing hitters. He threw between 40 and 45 pitches in a bullpen session a week ago, so deGrom's workload hasn't been increasing, although his intensity in each session could be progressing. Once he throws his final bullpen session this week, we could get an update on when and where he will face hitters.

Kade Morris SP | ATH
Athletics' Kade Morris: Dealt to Oakland
The Athletics acquired Morris from the Mets on Tuesday in exchange for right-hander Paul Blackburn, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Morris, 22, holds a 3.51 ERA and 95:30 K:BB over 92.1 innings between the Single- and High-A levels in 2024. The right-hander was a third-round pick in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft.

Mason Barnett P | ATH
Athletics' Mason Barnett: Traded to Athletics
The Royals traded Barnett, Will Klein and Jared Dickey to Oakland on Tuesday in exchange for Lucas Erceg, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
A third-round draft pick in 2022, Barnett has spent all of 2024 with the Royals' Double-A affiliate, making 18 appearances (17 starts) with a 4.21 ERA and a 105:35 K:BB across 87.2 innings. The right-hander figures to report to the Athletics' Double-A affiliate.
