Fried (6-2) picked up the win Tuesday against Boston, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and a walk across seven innings. He struck out 13.

Fried recorded a career-high number of strikeouts Tuesday, surpassing 10 Ks for the first time since 2019. The southpaw yielded his first long ball in five starts, as lefty-hitting Dominic Smith launched a solo homer in the third inning. Fried has logged a quality start in six of his last eight outings, a stretch in which he owns a 1.57 ERA and a 55:13 K:BB over 57.1 innings. He's scheduled to face the Nationals in Washington on Sunday.

Glasnow (6-4) was stuck with the loss Tuesday, allowing one run on three hits and two walks while striking out nine over six innings.

Jack Suwinski's solo home run in the third inning was the lone tally against Glasnow, though it proved to be enough to leave him with the loss in a 1-0 shutout defeat. Still, it was another strong outing from the 30-year-old Glasnow, who now has eight or more strikeouts in seven of his last eight starts. His ERA is down to 2.93 on the year with a 0.90 WHIP and a league-leading 104 strikeouts through 13 starts (80 innings). Glasnow's currently lined up for an intriguing road matchup with the Yankees this weekend.

Jones (4-5) earned the win Tuesday over the Dodgers, allowing three hits and three walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out six.

It was an impressive return to form for Jones after he gave up a season-high five runs in 4.1 innings in his last start against Detroit. It's the fifth quality start in Jones' last six outings -- his ERA now sits at 3.25 with a 1.01 WHIP 76:15 K:BB across 12 starts (69.1 innings) in his rookie campaign. The 22-year-old Jones is currently lined up for a home matchup with the Twins this weekend in his next start.

Ashby joined the Brewers' taxi squad in Philadelphia and could be formally called up from Triple-A Nashville to start or work as a bulk reliever in Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Ashby appears poised to slide into the rotation spot that belonged to Robert Gasser, who is awaiting a second opinion on his sore elbow and is expected to land on the 15-day injured list and miss out on at least a couple of starts. In his lone start for Milwaukee this season back on April 9 in Cincinnati, Ashby was blitzed for eight runs (four earned) in 3.2 innings. Upon returning to Nashville after that game, Ashby continued to struggle in his subsequent seven outings at Triple-A (9.54 ERA, 2.54 WHIP and 30:30 K:BB in 26.1 innings), but he's righted the ship over his past two starts. He delivered his best performance of the season in his most recent of the two starts Friday versus Memphis, striking out five over seven scoreless frames while allowing two hits and three walks. With Gasser set to go on the shelf and the Brewers still waiting on Joe Ross (back), Jakob Junis (shoulder) and DL Hall (knee) to return from the IL, Ashby could be in store for multiple turns through the rotation if he fares reasonably well Wednesday.

Horton (lat) was diagnosed with a subscapular strain Tuesday and will be shut down from throwing for 3-to-4 weeks, Tony Andracki of Marquee Sports Network reports.

The 22-year-old was removed from his May 29 start with the injury and was placed on Triple-A Iowa's 7-day injured list shortly thereafter. Horton will require some time to build up his arm strength after the shutdown period, so he likely won't be ready to rejoin Iowa until at least late July. He's struggled in his first taste of the Triple-A level this season with a 7.50 ERA and 1.56 WHIP through five starts.

The Padres selected Mazur's contract from Triple-A El Paso prior to his start Tuesday versus the Angels.

With Joe Musgrove (elbow) and Yu Darvish (groin) both on the IL, the Padres will call upon the 23-year-old Mazur to help fill the gaps in their rotation. He began the season in Double-A and was promoted to Triple-A in May after posting a 1.95 ERA and 0.87 WHIP. He hasn't found nearly the same amount of success through four starts with El Paso (7.11 ERA, 1.32 WHIP), so fantasy managers should temper their expectations as the right-hander makes his MLB debut Tuesday. Logan Gillaspie was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Tuesday that Gasser (elbow) might miss some time but that the first MRI looked "pretty normal," Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

The left-hander will receive a second opinion for the tightness and soreness in his elbow, but the initial imaging results are encouraging. Gasser still seems unlikely to avoid a stint on the injured list given it's an elbow issue, but the Brewers have yet to make an official roster move.

Suarez (hand) played catch without any apparent issues Tuesday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

He gave a thumbs-up to reporters afterward, and Phillies manager Rob Thomson was similarly upbeat about how Suarez checked out during Tuesday's workout. Suarez will throw a bullpen session Wednesday, and assuming that goes well, he's expected to be cleared to start against the Mets this weekend in London. The lefty departed his last outing Saturday versus the Cardinals after being struck on the pitching hand by a comebacker.

The Nationals recalled Herz from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Herz is set to make his major-league debut Tuesday as he makes a start against the Mets in place of Trevor Williams (elbow), who was placed on the injured list. The left-hander has posted a 3.75 ERA and 42:29 K:BB over 36 innings covering nine starts for Rochester this season. Herz boasts a 33.6 percent strikeout rate during his time in the minors, but he's also generated an elevated 15.3 percent walk rate.

The Nationals placed Williams on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a right flexor strain, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Williams had been slated to start Tuesday's game against the Mets but now will be sidelined for at least two weeks, and quite likely longer. The veteran right-hander has been a pleasant surprise for the Nationals this season, collecting a 2.22 ERA in 11 starts. DJ Herz was called up from Triple-A Rochester and will start Tuesday in Williams' stead.
