Hunter Greene SP | CIN
Reds' Hunter Greene: Turns in quality start
Greene surrendered one earned run on three hits and a walk while striking out six batters in six innings during Friday's 3-2 loss to the Mets. He didn't factor into the decision.
Greene was able to extend the Mets' struggles at the plate, with a sacrifice fly from Francisco Lindor representing the only damage on the 24-year-old's line. However, he had to settle for a quality start after receiving little support from his offense. Greene is lined up to start again at home versus the Brewers next week.

Jose Quintana SP | COL
Mets' Jose Quintana: Fans four in no-decision
Quintana gave up one earned run on five hits and four walks while striking out four batters through 5.2 innings during Friday's 3-2 win over the Reds. He did not factor into the decision.
The Reds were able to put runners on base consistently against Quintana, but aside from a first-inning solo home run by Spencer Steer, the left-hander was able to keep them from crossing home plate. However, New York wasn't able to take the lead until after Quintana left the game, so Friday's win was awarded to Drew Smith. The 35-year-old Quintana owns a 2.61 ERA and 1.65 WHIP through his first two starts and is tentatively scheduled to make his next appearance in Atlanta next week.

Freddy Peralta SP | TB
Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Falls apart late
Peralta yielded three runs on four hits and a walk over 5.2 innings and did not factor in the decision Friday. He struck out seven during a win over Seattle.
Peralta looked terrific through five shutout frames, allowing just three Mariners to reach base during that stretch. He was then tagged with three runs in the sixth inning and wasn't able to record a quality start. The 27-year-old forced seven whiffs with his slider and 13 total. Peralta has a 3.09 ERA with an impressive 15:2 K:BB through 11.2 frames. He's currently lined up to start in Cincinnati next week.

Tommy Henry SP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Tommy Henry: Punches out five in no-decision
Henry did not factor into the decision Friday against Atlanta, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out five.
Henry looked much sharper against Atlanta after struggling in his season debut against Colorado. He faced no easy task -- having to duel Spencer Strider -- and managed to tally more whiffs than the Atlanta righty (14 vs. 12). Henry is tentatively scheduled for a rematch with the Rockies on the road in his next start.

Spencer Strider SP | ATL
Braves' Spencer Strider: Dealing with elbow discomfort
Strider reported discomfort in his right elbow after his start Friday against Arizona, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Strider surrendered five earned runs on seven hits and three walks across four innings while striking out four, and his elbow may have played a part in his poor performance. He's slated to receive an MRI on Saturday, which will provide a better idea of how much time -- if any -- the right-hander will miss.

Aaron Nola SP | PHI
Phillies' Aaron Nola: Earns first win of season
Nola (1-1) picked up the win Friday over the Nationals, pitching 5.2 scoreless innings and allowing two hits and four walks. He struck out four.
Although Nola collected his first win of the season, he still looked relatively rusty and was lucky to be facing a weak Nationals lineup. His entire pitch arsenal looked diminished as he averaged only 91.1 mph on his fastball, down 1.6 mph from his average velocity in 2023. Nola is slated to start against the Cardinals on the road in his next outing.

Patrick Corbin SP | TOR
Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Surrenders four runs in loss
Corbin (0-1) took the loss Friday, allowing four runs on nine hits and three walks over six innings against Philadelphia. He struck out six.
Corbin's rough start to the season continued Friday after he allowed four runs over 4.1 innings in his first start, leaving him with a 6.97 ERA. The 34-year-old lefty has been unable to keep opponents off the basepaths as his WHIP stands at 1.94 over his first 10.1 innings. Corbin is scheduled to pitch on the road against the Giants in his next start.

Dylan Cease SP | TOR
Padres' Dylan Cease: Settles for quality start Friday
Cease came away with a no-decision in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Giants, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out seven.
The right-hander uncorked two wild pitches and threw 64 of 102 pitches for strikes before exiting the mound, but Cease also generated 30 called or swinging strikes in his first quality start as a Padre. He's posted a 3.38 ERA and 13:4 K:BB through his first 10.2 innings this season, and Cease lines up to make his next start at home next week against the Cubs.

Jared Jones SP | PIT
Pirates' Jared Jones: Quality start in no-decision
Jones came away with a no-decision in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Orioles, giving up two runs on six hits over six innings. He struck out seven without walking a batter.
The rookie right-hander got taken deep by Ryan O'Hearn in the second inning and Gunnar Henderson in the third, but he settled down after the solo shots and delivered his first career quality start while generating an incredible 21 swinging strikes among his 80 pitches. Jones has a dazzling 17:2 K:BB through his first 11.2 big-league innings, but things won't get any easier for him in his next outing, which lines up for a road start next week in Philadelphia.

Austin Gomber SP | TEX
Rockies' Austin Gomber: Fans seven in no-decision
Gomber came away with a no-decision in Friday's 10-7 win over the Rays, giving up two runs on four hits and three walks over four innings. He struck out seven.
The southpaw ran up high pitch counts in the first couple innings but was able to limit the damage, eventually hitting the showers after 89 pitches (57 strikes). Gomber has a 6.23 ERA and 10:6 K:BB through his first 8.2 innings this season, and he'll need to rein in the walks if he's going to be a streaming option even away from Coors Field. He lines up for another home start next week against Arizona, however.
