The Mets claimed Battenfield off waivers from the Guardians on Saturday and optioned him to Triple-A Syracuse.

Battenfield was sent to Triple-A in May after putting up a 5.19 ERA and 1.33 WHIP through 34.2 innings to start the season. He was DFA'd by Cleveland after putting up similar numbers in the minors, and he'll now serve as an organizational depth piece for New York.

The Marlins activated Cueto (illness) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his start Saturday against the Nationals, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

A viral infection sent Cueto to the IL on Aug. 21, but he will be able to return to the Marlins' rotation after a minimum-length stay. The 37-year-old righty has put up a 5.08 ERA and 1.06 WHIP over 28.1 innings across his last five starts.

Teheran (hip) covered 2.1 innings and allowed four earned runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out four Thursday in his rehab start with Triple-A Nashville.

Teheran tossed 60 pitches (34 strikes) in the second outing of his rehab assignment after he previously made a three-inning start for High-A Wisconsin on Aug. 25. The right-hander will likely need at least one more outing in the minors to get fully stretched out for starting duty, but it's not certain that Milwaukee will have a spot available for him in its rotation once he's healthy. Colin Rea will be called up from Nashville to fill in Saturday against the Phillies for injured No. 5 starter Adrian Houser (elbow). How Rea performs Saturday along with how quickly Houser recovers from his injury may dictate whether Teheran gets another look in the Milwaukee rotation.

Senga came away with a no-decision Friday in the Mets' 2-1 win over the Mariners, allowing one run on five hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out 12.

The 12 Ks tied his season high, matching his performances from July 5 against Arizona and May 17 against Tampa Bay. Senga has delivered five straight quality starts and missed making it seven straight by one out, and since the All-Star break he's posted a 2.68 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 63:19 K:BB through 53.2 innings. New York is keeping a close eye on the 30-year-old's workload in his first MLB campaign, but by all appearances Senga is getting stronger down the stretch. He lines up to make his next start in Minnesota next weekend, potentially in a matchup with countryman Kenta Maeda.

Irvin came away with a no-decision Friday in the Nationals' 8-5 extra-innings loss to the Marlins, giving up three runs on four hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out four.

The right-hander got the hook after 80 pitches (44 strikes) with the score tied 3-3, marking his seventh straight start without a decision and snapping his quality start streak at three. Irvin has pitched relatively well over that stretch, however, posting a 3.43 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 35:14 K:BB through 39.1 innings. With Washington looking to manage the workload of its younger arms, the 26-year-old likely won't take the mound again until next weekend in a home start against the Dodgers.

Feltner (head) struck out three and gave up one earned run on three hits and no walks over three innings in his rehab start Friday for High-A Spokane.

Feltner returned to the mound Friday for the first time since he suffered a skull fracture and major concussion when he was struck in the head by a line drive in a May 13 start against the Phillies. Because he's been on the shelf for three and a half months, Feltner will require multiple rehab outings to get stretched back out for starting duty, but the right-hander appears on track to return from the 60-day injured list before season's end.

Perez came away with a no-decision in Friday's 8-5 extra-innings win over the Nationals, giving up three runs on five hits and three walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out five.

All three runs off the 20-year-old phenom came on solo shots, as Perez served up a leadoff homer to CJ Abrams in the first inning before Lane Thomas and Travis Blankenhorn took him deep in the third. Perez has completed at least five innings only twice in five starts since rejoining the big-league rotation in August, but he's posted a respectable 3.91 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 34:8 K:BB through 25.1 innings over that stretch. The rookie right-hander will likely make his next start at home next week against the Dodgers.

Rockies manager Bud Black said Friday that Anderson (shoulder) could be activated from the 15-day injured list to start Sunday's game versus the Blue Jays at Coors Field, MLB.com reports.

The Rockies have an opening in their rotation for the series finale versus Toronto with Austin Gomber (back) unavailable to start on five days' rest, and Anderson looks like the top option to fill the void after making his second rehab outing with Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday. In that rehab start, Anderson struck out one while allowing no runs on two hits and four walks over three innings. Anderson covered 64 pitches Tuesday, so he should be able to give the Rockies something close to a typical starter's workload if he gets activated for Sunday's game.

Richardson came away with a no-decision in the second game of Friday's doubleheader against the Cubs, giving up two runs on two hits and five walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out four.

Promoted earlier in the day to take the place of Ben Lively (COVID-19), Richardson struggled to find the plate and tossed only 51 of his 91 pitches for strikes. He exited the game in line for the loss, but the Reds rallied for two runs in the ninth to secure a 3-2 victory. The 23-year-old has a 9:11 K:BB through 12 innings in the majors this season, and it's not clear if he'll even remain in the big-league bullpen when Lively is ready to return.

Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Friday that Liberatore is scheduled to make at least one more rehab start at Triple-A Memphis prior to being activated from the 15-day injured list, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Though Liberatore tossed 78 pitches in his first rehab start with Memphis on Tuesday, he wasn't particularly sharp. He spotted only 45 of his pitches for strikes, recording five punchouts while allowing five runs on four hits and five walks over 3.2 innings. Liberatore will presumably make his next turn for Memphis on Sunday, and if he shows more efficiency in that outing, he could return from the IL for the Cardinals' series next weekend in Cincinnati.
