Houser was removed after two innings in his start in Sunday's game against the Padres due to an injury the Brewers have labeled as "minor right forearm tightness," Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. He gave up four earned runs on four hits and one walk while striking out two before departing.

Though even "minor" forearm injuries have a tendency to send pitchers to the 15-day injured list, the Brewers will likely wait and see if Houser feels well enough to throw a bullpen session over the next few days before determining if he'll be able to make his next turn through the rotation, which would likely fall next weekend versus the Phillies. Houser had reached five innings in each of his last four starts while pitching to a 3.80 ERA and 1.13 WHIP before his early exit Sunday.

The Dodgers transferred Gonsolin (forearm) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

The transaction opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for waiver-wire pickup Tyson Miller, but more significantly, it officially closes the door on Gonsolin pitching again in 2023, barring the Dodgers making a deep postseason run. Even if the Dodgers advance to the National League Championship Series or the World Series, Gonsolin is still unlikely to pitch again, given that he could require surgery to address his right elbow injury. Gonsolin recently underwent an MRI, and the Dodgers will await the results before making a decision regarding surgery. If a procedure is deemed necessary, Gonsolin's absence could stretch into the 2024 season.

Peterson did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing a run on three hits and three walks over seven innings in a 3-2 victory over the Angels. He struck out eight.

Peterson matched a season high with eight strikeouts Sunday while shutting out the Angels until the seventh inning. It was an encouraging outing from the 27-year-old Peterson, who allowed four runs in just 4.2 innings in his last start against Atlanta. The southpaw lowered his ERA to 5.23 on the season with a 1.60 WHIP and 91:41 K:BB across 84.1 innings, including 16 starts. Peterson will look to build on his performance in his next outing, currently scheduled as a home matchup next week against Seattle.

The Reds optioned Kennedy to Triple-A Louisville on Sunday.

Kennedy covered four innings of long relief in Friday's 10-8 loss to Arizona and might not have been available for another day or two, so the Reds opted to swap him off the 26-man active roster in favor of a fresh arm in right-hander Daniel Duarte, who was called up from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. Cincinnati has a doubleheader coming up next Friday versus the Cubs that will create a temporary need for a sixth starter, so Kennedy could be headed back to the big club in short order to fill the opening in the rotation.

Suarez (hamstring) is scheduled to throw live batting practice Monday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

If his live session goes smoothly, Suarez should be allowed to skip a minor-league rehab assignment and return to the Phillies on their upcoming road trip, which runs from Sept. 1 to Sept. 6. The 28-year-old left-hander has been on the injured list since Aug. 19 because of a right hamstring strain.

Ashby (shoulder) is on track to begin a minor-league rehab assignment next Saturday at High-A Wisconsin, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Ashby has been working through some mechanical issues but recently turned a corner and looks ready to pitch in a live game for the first time in 2023. The 25-year-old left-hander underwent arthroscopic surgery on his throwing shoulder in April. Ashby tossed a 35-pitch bullpen session Saturday, and he'll head to the Brewers' spring training complex in Arizona this week for a live batting practice session before he reports to Milwaukee's Midwest League affiliate. He's expected to serve as a multi-inning reliever for the Brewers once he returns from the 60-day injured list.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Friday that Gonsolin (forearm) might require surgery, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

There's nothing official yet, but Gonsolin is not expected back this season, and a surgical procedure could affect his readiness for the beginning of the 2024 campaign. The 29-year-old right-hander landed on the injured list Aug. 19 due to right forearm discomfort, and an MRI taken earlier this week apparently revealed some form of structural damage.

Pittsburgh optioned Bido to Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Bido was lit up for eight earned runs over 2.1 innings of relief Saturday against the Cubs. Cody Bolton will join the Pirates as a fresh bullpen arm ahead of Sunday's series finale.

Stone was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City and will serve as the Dodgers' bulk pitcher Sunday at Boston, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

The 24-year-old right-hander is expected to follow opener Caleb Ferguson in Sunday's series finale at Fenway Park. Stone has allowed 18 runs -- 17 earned -- in 12 innings of work this season at the major-league level.

Perez came away with a no-decision Saturday in the Marlins' 3-2 loss to the Nationals, allowing just one unearned run on three hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out seven.

The rookie right-hander was impressive, generating 14 swinging strikes on only 76 pitches, but he left the mound with the score tied 1-1. Perez has delivered back-to-back quality starts after a couple bumpier outings in his return to the big-league rotation, putting to rest for now any worries the 20-year-old could be tiring -- Perez is up to 110.2 innings this season between Triple-A and the majors, a big jump from his 77 innings in the minors in 2022. Miami will likely try to find extra rest for him down the stretch, but Perez's next outing still lines up for a road series next weekend and a potential rematch with the Nationals.
