Richardson will be called up from Triple-A Louisville to make his first big-league start Sunday against the Nationals, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Richardson was scratched from his scheduled start with Triple-A Louisville on Thursday, and it turns out the reason was to keep him on schedule for his first start in the major leagues. Richardson is one of Cincinnati's better prospects, but he hasn't thrown more than 49 pitches in a game since May, so he'll likely face some sort of pitch limit Sunday.

DeSclafani will receive a platelet-rich plasma injection in his right elbow and is expected to be shut down from throwing for 6-to-8 weeks, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Based on the 6-to-8-week timeline, DeSclafani's season is almost certainly over, barring a deep postseason run by the Giants. After missing most of last season with an ankle injury, DeSclafani returned to go 4-8 with a 4.88 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 19 appearances (18 starts) for the Giants in 2023. The right-hander is under contract for $12 million in 2024.

The Pirates officially recalled Falter ahead of his scheduled start Saturday against the Brewers, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Falter was added to the taxi squad Friday and is now on the Pirates' active roster for the first time after coming over from Philadelphia at the deadline in exchange for infielder Rodolfo Castro. While Falter has mostly struggled at the highest level this season (5.13 ERA, 1.44 WHIP), he showed promise in 2021 and 2022, and the Pirates are evaluating for the future.

The Mets recalled Megill ahead of his scheduled start Saturday against the Orioles.

Megill will get another chance in the rotation after both Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander were moved at the trade deadline. His ERA and WHIP have only gotten worse with Triple-A Syracuse, though Megill took a step forward in his most recent start in the minors with six innings of two-run ball against Lehigh Valley.

The Brewers optioned Rea to Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.

Lefty Clayton Andrews was recalled to replace Rea, who was knocked around for six runs over four innings Friday, bringing his ERA since the All-Star break to 6.75. Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) is due back Sunday, so Rea's services are no longer needed in the rotation, though he could be back before long as a swingman.

The Dodgers announced Grove will start Saturday's game against the Padres, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

The right-hander was expected to move to the bullpen after he gave up eight runs in his previous outing, but he'll end up receiving another start Saturday. However, Grove may not have the workload of a traditional starter with Ryan Yarbrough a likely option to piggyback.

Megill will be called up from Triple-A Syracuse to start Saturday in Baltimore.

Megill will join David Peterson as new members of the Mets rotation after the team traded Max Scherzer to the Rangers and Justin Verlander to the Astros within the past week. Since being optioned to Syracuse on June 22, Megill hasn't done much to inspire confidence that he'll emerge as a fantasy-friendly option as he makes his way back to the Mets. Over his six starts at Triple-A, Megill has posted an 8.67 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 14:11 K:BB in 27 innings.

Luzardo (8-6) took the loss Friday as the Marlins were downed 6-2 by the Rangers, giving up four runs on six hits -- including three home runs -- and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out eight.

The three homers allowed were a season high for Luzardo, who hadn't served up multiple long balls in a start since May 21, but he still generated 18 swinging strikes among his 90 pitches before exiting. The southpaw has stumbled a bit in his last two outings, but his ability to miss bats gives him a solid fantasy floor even when he isn't at his sharpest -- he's fanned at least eight batters in six of his last eight starts, posting a 2.51 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 61:15 K:BB through 46.2 innings over that stretch. He'll look to get back in the win column in his next trip to the mound, which is likely to come next week in Cincinnati.

Peterson came away with a no-decision Friday in the Mets' 10-3 loss to the Orioles, allowing one hit and three walks over three scoreless innings. He struck out one.

The southpaw tossed 30 of 52 pitches for strikes in the short outing, but considering he hadn't pitched more than two innings in an appearance in nearly a month, a restricted workload was to be expected. Peterson has a 2.66 ERA in 20.1 innings since the beginning of July, but that comes with a lackluster 1.43 WHIP and 19:11 K:BB, and the jury is still out on whether the 27-year-old will ever develop into an effective rotation option. He'll make his next start, and get stretched out further, at home against the Cubs next week.

Lodolo (lower leg) will throw another bullpen session Monday, MLB.com reports.

If all goes well, Lodolo is expected to throw two innings the following Friday, presumably as part of a simulated game. The left-hander's condition has improved over the last 10 days, and the Reds moved up his expected return date to late August.
