Sheehan allowed five runs on four hits and four walks while striking out four over 3.2 innings, taking a no-decision Tuesday versus the Pirates.

Sheehan had allowed just five total runs over his first 17 major-league innings. He gave up a two-run double in the first inning and then ran into more trouble in the fourth before he was relieved by Caleb Ferguson. Sheehan has showed promise so far, posting a 4.35 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 16:8 K:BB through 20.2 innings over four starts. He'll likely have extra time to reset from this poor outing, as he's not likely to pitch again before the All-Star break.

Ortiz allowed six runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out three over 3.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Tuesday.

Ortiz allowed a career-high three home runs, two of which came off the bat of James Outman. It was the worst start of Ortiz's young career, but the Pirates ultimately rallied late for the win. The right-hander is now at a 4.86 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 34:26 K:BB through 53.2 innings over 11 outings (10 starts) this season. He is tentatively projected for a road start in Arizona over the weekend.

Nola (8-5) earned the win Tuesday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk over 7.1 innings in a 3-1 win over the Rays. He struck out 12.

Nola came out on the winning end of a pitcher's duel, besting Zach Eflin, who gave up two runs and struck out nine across seven innings, to claim his eighth win of the campaign. Nola tied his season high in strikeouts and carried a shutout into the eighth inning but surrendered a solo homer to Wander Franco and was pulled. The 30-year-old has been battling some severe inconsistencies across his last six starts, allowing one or fewer earned runs in three starts but surrendering at least four runs in the other three. The primary cause of his struggles has been the long ball, as Nola has surrendered 18 homers through 18 appearances, tied for the eighth most in baseball. However, he's lined up to make his next start against the Marlins, which rank 24th in home runs per game.

Allard gave up three runs on four hits and a walk while striking out three over five innings in a no-decision versus the Guardians on Tuesday.

Allard threw 73 pitches (45 strikes) and left in line for the win until Kirby Yates struggled in the seventh inning to surrender Atlanta's lead. While it wasn't as sharp as his season debut versus the Twins, Allard has done well to keep baserunners down with a 0.93 WHIP over his first 9.2 innings of the campaign. He's posted an 11:2 K:BB as well. Allard is not expected to start again before the All-Star break, and he'll likely be at the back of the rotation to start the second half.

Musgrove (7-2) earned the win Tuesday, allowing one run on three hits and one walk over seven innings against the Angels. He struck out 11.

Musgrove recorded double-digit strikeouts for the first time this season and now has a 2.06 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 47:8 K:BB across 49.1 frames in his past eight starts. He has a 6-0 record during that stretch with seven quality starts. The right-hander had a delayed start to the campaign due to shoulder and toe injuries and struggled in his first five outings, but he's looking more and more like the All-Star that posted a 3.06 ERA and 9.6 K/9 over the previous two seasons.

May will undergo surgery July 18 to repair the flexor tendon in his right elbow.

May landed on the IL on May 18, and the news of his upcoming surgery effectively puts an end to his season. Details regarding May's recovery timeline could become clearer after his procedure, but he will most likely miss a month or two in 2024 as well. The 25-year-old righty finishes the season with a 2.63 ERA and 0.94 WHIP through 48 innings across nine starts.

Freeland (4-9) took the loss Tuesday, allowing four runs on nine hits and two walks over 6.1 innings against the Astros. He struck out three.

Freeland had another rough outing Tuesday, allowing nine hits for the third time in his last four starts while also racking up three or fewer K's for the third time in that span. The loss was his ninth of the campaign -- tied for the third most in MLB -- and extended his winless streak to nine starts, dating back to May 14. Over his last four appearances (20.2 innings), Freeland owns an ugly 8.71 ERA and a 14:12 K:BB. The lefty is tentatively scheduled for a road matchup at Oracle Park against the Giants this weekend.

Miley didn't factor in the decision Tuesday against the Cubs after he gave up four runs on nine hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out four.

The veteran left-hander generated 15 swinging strikes but still surrendered a season-high nine hits, including four that went for extra bases. Miley went unscored upon in 11 frames during his first two starts in June after missing time with a lat injury, but he's now allowed six runs over nine innings across his last two outings. Miley won't make his next start until after the All-Star break if the Brewers continue to utilize a six-man rotation.

Hendricks didn't factor in the decision Tuesday in Milwaukee after he allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and one walk across six innings. He struck out five.

Hendricks scattered one walk and four singles as he produced his third consecutive quality start, but he missed out on the victory since Chicago's bullpen blew a late lead. The 33-year-old struggled to a 4.78 ERA over the previous two seasons, but he has a 2.64 ERA and 0.94 WHIP through eight starts in 2023 after missing the early part of the campaign while rehabbing a strained shoulder. Hendricks tentatively lines up for one more start before the All-Star break Sunday against the Yankees.

Syndergaard (finger) is scheduled to throw a simulated game Thursday, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports.

Syndergaard has made it through a handful of bullpen sessions without issue and will now advance to facing live hitters. Out since June 8 due to a blister on his right index finger, the 30-year-old is expected to head out on a lengthy minor-league rehab assignment before he becomes a consideration again for the Dodgers' pitching staff. He had had struggled to a 7.16 ERA in 55.1 innings (12 starts) prior to the IL stint.
