Strider improved to 4-0 with a win over the Mets in the first game of a doubleheader Monday. He pitched five innings, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out eight batters.

Atlanta staked Strider to a 6-1 lead after two innings, but he served up a three-run homer to Pete Alonso in the following frame that brought the score much closer. To his credit, Strider bounced back by retiring the final nine batters he faced, allowing him to hang around just long enough to pick up his fourth win. The right-hander walked three but tossed 74 of his 107 pitches for a strike, and he did his usual standout work missing bats by notching 15 swings-and-misses. The four earned runs Strider allowed were a season high while the eight strikeouts were a season low, which speaks to how well he has pitched as a whole through six starts.

Gonsolin allowed three runs on five hits and two walks over 4.2 innings during Monday's 13-4 win over the Phillies. He struck out three and didn't factor in the decision.

After throwing 65 pitches in his season debut, Gonsolin got up to 80 in his second outing, including 52 strikes (nine whiffs). He worked through three shutout frames before serving up a solo homer to Kyle Schwarber. Gonsolin was then charged with two more runs in the fifth inning. The 28-year-old has registered a 3.38 ERA with a 4:5 K:BB through eight innings in his two starts. Gonsolin is projected to take the mound in San Diego this weekend, where he should be able to handle a full workload.

Walker dropped to 2-2 after yielding eight runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out six over 3.1 innings in Monday's 13-4 loss to the Dodgers.

For the second straight start, Walker had some home run trouble, as the long ball accounted for five of the eight runs against him Monday. He allowed one in each of the first three frames, including David Peralta's three-run shot in the second inning. Walker saw his ERA soar to 6.91 with a 29:17 K:BB through 28.2 innings this season. On the bright side, he generated a season-high 11 whiffs, with eight coming on the splitter. Walker is projected to face the Red Sox at home this weekend.

Snell improved to 1-4 after allowing three runs on eight hits over six innings while striking out seven in Monday's 8-3 victory over the Reds.

Snell coughed up a two-run double to Stuart Fairchild in the third inning followed by Nick Senzel's solo shot in the fourth. It was the fifth straight game in which Snell has given up at least one home run, but it was his first game of the season issuing zero free passes. The 30-year-old lefty forced 17 whiffs, his highest total since recording 19 in his season debut. He picked up his first win and lowered his season ERA to 5.28 alongside a 33:18 K:BB through 29 frames. Snell is currently lined up to face the Dodgers at home this weekend.

The Mets recalled Butto from Triple-A Syracuse ahead of the second game of Monday's doubleheader with Atlanta.

Though Butto was optioned to Syracuse just one day earlier, he's eligible to pitch in relief for the nightcap Monday since the Mets are designating him as their 27th man for the twin bill. He'll give the Mets a fresh arm after the team needed five relievers to cover nine innings in the 9-8 loss in Game 1, though Butto won't necessarily be tasked with a big workload in Game 2 if starter Tylor Megill is able to provide a decent amount of length.

Pepiot (oblique) recently began a throwing progression at the Dodgers' spring training facility in Arizona and has built up his long-toss distance to about 150 feet as of Monday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Pepiot presumably started throwing again about a week or two ago after his activity had been limited since he was diagnosed with a left oblique strain coming out of his final Cactus League appearance March 28. Before developing the injury, Pepiot had been on track to break camp as a member of Los Angeles' rotation, but he may not have a starting role waiting for him once he's eligible to return from the 60-day injured list in late May. Tony Gonsolin has since beaten Pepiot back from the IL to recapture a spot in the Dodgers' rotation.

The Cubs promoted Brown from Double-A Tennessee to Triple-A Iowa on Saturday.

Brown received the call to Triple-A after the Cubs summoned Caleb Kilian from Iowa to make a spot start this past weekend. Though Kilian has since been optioned back to Iowa, Brown looks like he'll keep a spot in the Triple-A rotation after he was unchallenged over his first four starts this season at Double-A. Over 20 innings with Tennessee, Brown compiled an 0.45 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 30:6 K:BB.

Taillon (groin) is scheduled to throw another bullpen session Tuesday, MLB.com reports.

The upcoming side session marks Taillon's second since he was placed on the 15-day injured list April 20 with a left groin strain. Though the Cubs were initially optimistic that Taillon would be ready to come off the IL when first eligible -- which would have been Tuesday -- the right-hander instead looks like he'll remain on the shelf for another week. The Cubs turned to Caleb Kilian over the weekend to replace Taillon in the rotation, but because Kilian has since been optioned to Triple-A Iowa, the team will likely call up another pitcher to fill Taillon's next turn through the rotation, which comes up Thursday in Washington.

Johnson (elbow) made his season debut for Single-A Augusta on April 11 and has logged a 3.72 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 15:7 K:BB in 9.2 innings through his first four appearances with the affiliate.

Johnson returned from Tommy John surgery in just over 12 months, as he was back in action for Augusta after having the procedure in early April of last year. While the 22-year-old right-hander has been able to make bats miss at a high clip in the early going, he's endured some troubles with his controlling his pitches, though that was an issue even before he underwent reconstructive elbow surgery. Johnson is in the midst of his fifth season in the Atlanta organization after he was drafted out of high school in the 14th round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft.

Carrasco (elbow) is making progress and could rejoin the Mets' rotation next week, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

Carrasco landed on the injured list a couple weeks ago with a small bone chip in his right elbow. He was given an injection and resumed throwing off a mound late last week. It's not clear yet which exact day Carrasco could return, but he looks like he could avoid a rehab assignment. Once activated, Carrasco would likely bump either Joey Lucchesi or Tylor Megill from the rotation.
