Pepiot was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a left oblique strain, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Pepiot had been lined up as the fill-in starter with Tony Gonsolin (ankle) sidelined to begin the season, but that assignment will now go to Michael Grove instead. The recovery time for an oblique strain can range from a couple of weeks to multiple months, and there's no word yet from the Dodgers about a Pepiot's recovery timetable.

The Mets will recall Megill from Triple-A Syracuse to have him start in place of Justin Verlander (shoulder) on Saturday at Miami, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Verlander is headed to the 15-day injured list after being diagnosed Thursday with a teres major strain, which opens up a rotation spot for Megill, who had been optioned out to Triple-A just before the end of spring training. The 27-year-old right-hander posted a rough 5.13 ERA over 47.1 major-league innings last season and also struggled this spring in the Grapefruit League.

Verlander was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a low-grade teres major strain, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Verlander had been lined up to start the Mets' third regular-season game Saturday in Miami, but now he's at risk of missing much of April. Per an announcement from the club, the veteran right-hander will "continue throwing at moderate intensity" before undergoing new scans of his upper right arm next week. He inked a two-year, $86.67 million contract with New York over the winter. Tylor Megill will fill his spot in the rotation for the time being.

The Pirates placed Brubaker (elbow) on the 15-day injured list Thursday.

Brubaker could be facing season-ending surgery for a right elbow injury that he suffered at the tail end of spring training. He had been ticketed for a spot in the Pirates' starting rotation to open the 2023 campaign, but his injury paves the way for Johan Oviedo to enter the season as the No. 5 starter.

Musgrove (toe) was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to March 27.

As expected, Musgrove will open the year on the IL as he completes his recovery from a February toe fracture. He's scheduled to throw in a minor-league game this Saturday and then the Padres can map out a blueprint for his 2023 debut. It shouldn't be long.

Meyer (elbow) was placed on the 60-day injured list Thursday.

Meyer required Tommy John surgery last August and probably won't be ready for live action again until the closing weeks of the 2023 regular season.

Sanchez (triceps) was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to March 27.

Sanchez was shut down in mid-April because of left triceps soreness, and there is currently no timeline for his 2023 debut.

Suarez (forearm) was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to March 27.

Suarez fell behind the other Phillies starters when he came down with forearm tightness in early March. Imaging tests have ruled out any structural damage and the hope is that he can hop into the rotation for the reigning NL champs sometime before the end of April. He threw a bullpen session Wednesday without issue.

Wainwright (groin) was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to March 27.

Wainwright is projected to miss the first month of the 2023 regular season because of a groin strain that he suffered during a workout with Team USA in the World Baseball Classic. Miles Mikolas is taking the ball for the Cardinals on Opening Day.

Shuster had his contract selected by Atlanta on Thursday.

The 24-year-old lefty earned a spot in Atlanta's season-opening rotation and is penciled in to start Sunday in Washington, and he's now officially been added to the MLB roster. Shuster had a 3.29 ERA and 145:38 K:BB across 139.1 innings between the Double-A and Triple-A levels last season, but he earned the rotation spot largely on a dominant spring training during which held opponents to a .115 average with a 1.45 ERA in 18.2 frames.
