Woodruff (4-2) allowed three runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks over five innings Sunday, striking out six and earning a win over Miami.

Woodruff coughed up a two-run single to Payton Henry in the second inning after the frame began with an error. He was then taken deep for a solo shot in the third by Jorge Soler. The 6-foot-4 righty saw his season ERA drop to 5.35 through 33.2 innings, but he's given up five home runs over his last three outings. Woodruff will look to string together victories in his projected home start against Washington next weekend.

Megill was diagnosed with right biceps tendinitis Sunday after undergoing an MRI, and he will be shut down from throwing for a few days before being re-evaluated, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports.

Megill landed on the shelf with biceps inflammation earlier Sunday, but the injury has now been clarified following the MRI. The right-hander will remain without a clear timeline for his return until he's cleared to begin throwing again.

Alcantara is starting Monday against the Nationals, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

The right-hander initially lined up to start Tuesday's matchup, but he'll be pushed up a day after Jesus Luzardo (forearm) was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday. However, Alcantara will be on normal rest since the Marlins had a day off Thursday. Over his last five starts, the 26-year-old has posted a 2.59 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in 31.1 innings.

Ashby secured a four-inning save in Sunday's win over the Marlins. He struck out eight and did not allow a hit.

The lone Marlin to reach base during Ashby's four shutout frames was Brian Anderson; he got to first after striking out in the eighth inning. Ashby struck out a career-high eight batters and he improved his season K:BB to 33:17 through 27.1 innings. The 23-year-old could move back into the rotation next week unless the Brewers plan on using him in more of a long-relief role.

Manager Buck Showalter said Williams is likely to start Monday's game against the Cardinals, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The right-hander last pitched Wednesday and covered 3.2 frames in long relief, and he'll make a spot start Monday after originally-scheduled starter Tylor Megill (biceps) was placed on the injured list. Williams threw 51 pitches during that outing, so he'll likely need to be efficient to have a chance of sticking around for the necessary five innings to potentially pick up a win.

Kershaw (pelvis) played catch Sunday and is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The veteran left-hander underwent an MRI on Friday and was cleared of structural damage after landing on the injured list with right SI joint inflammation, and his quick return to throwing is a good early sign for his recovery. Kershaw experienced some soreness after playing catch, though it may have been residual soreness from the epidural he recently received. He'll play catch again Monday in preparation of the bullpen session, and if all goes well over the next few days Kershaw could be in store a minimum-length stay on the shelf.

Woodford was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Sunday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

The 25-year-old has a 2.08 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 9:6 K:BB over 13 innings this year but will head to the minors with Adam Wainwright (illness) returning from the COVID-19 injured list Sunday. Woodford also had a 3.99 ERA across 67.2 innings for the Cardinals in 2021, so it's only a matter of time before he rejoins the big-league club.

Wainwright (illness) was activated from the COVID-19 injured list ahead of his start against the Giants on Sunday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Wainwright was cleared to rejoin the Cardinals on Thursday and will reclaim his spot in the rotation on Sunday Night Baseball after clearing MLB's COVID-19 protocols. The veteran right-hander last pitched May 4 against Kansas City and delivered seven scoreless innings, and he could have some minor workload restrictions in his first start back from the illness.

Grove was called up from Double-A Tulsa ahead of his start Sunday against the Phillies, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The 25-year-old will make his big-league debut Sunday in a spot start, filling the gap in Los Angeles' rotation following the placement of Clayton Kershaw (pelvis) on the injured list. Grove struggled at the Double-A level with a 7.86 ERA last year, but he's pitched well so far in 2022 and has a 2.76 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 22:5 K:BB across 16.1 innings.

Megill was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday with right biceps inflammation.

He will undergo an MRI on Sunday and and the Mets will provide follow-up information. Megill gave up eight earned runs on eight hits and one walk in 1.1 innings in his last start against the Nationals. He dazzled in his first two starts of the season but has a 6.29 ERA and 1.36 WHIP over his last five starts. David Peterson could be an option to replace him in the rotation.
