Gausman (14-6) allowed four earned runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out seven across five innings to take the loss Thursday against the Padres.

Gausman surrendered at least one run in three different innings, leading to the disappointing outing. As a result, he was charged with his first loss since July 30. In his last 10 starts, Gausman has a 4.08 ERA across 53 innings, though he's still provided value by racking up 68 strikeouts and earning five wins in that span. On the season, Gausman has maintained a 2.78 ERA with a 208:49 K:BB across 175 frames.

Overton held the Reds scoreless across three innings during Thursday's no-decision. He allowed two hits and a walk while striking out three.

It was a strong debut for the 28-year-old, who has yet to allow a run through his first 10.2 innings at the major-league level. As expected, Overton took on a light load for his first start, tossing 42 pitches (31 for strikes) over three frames. The right-hander will look to get further stretched out during his next outing, which projects for a rematch with Cincinnati on the road next week, assuming he remains in the starting rotation.

Mahle (12-5) earned the win Thursday after blanking the Pirates across six innings. He allowed five hits and a walk while striking out four.

Mahle used strong command to post his second consecutive quality start and help the Reds avoid a sweep in the tight 1-0 victory. The right-hander has posted a 1.85 ERA in 17 road starts this season while nearing the 200-strikeout milestone with 192 whiffs (good for 10th on the MLB leaderboard). Mahle will carry a 3.59 ERA and 1.20 WHIP into his next outing, which tentatively aligns for a rematch with Pittsburgh at home Tuesday.

Anderson will start Friday's game against the Giants, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Anderson was slated to pitch Thursday against the Rockies before the game was postponed, but he'll start at PNC Park on Friday. Charlie Morton will also be pushed back a day to start Saturday's matchup.

Cueto (elbow) played catch from 60 feet Thursday, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Cueto resumed playing catch Wednesday for the first time since he landed on the injured list Sept. 1, and he was able to throw for a second consecutive day. It's not yet clear when the right-hander will be able to resume mound work, but it's encouraging to see him throw off flat ground.

Anderson won't start Thursday's game against the Rockies as scheduled, as the game has been postponed.

Inclement weather and unplayable field conditions caused the game to be called off. The two teams aren't scheduled to play each other again this season, but the game is still expected to be played on a later date. It's unclear whether or not Anderson will simply be pushed back by a day, as Atlanta may not want to push back Charlie Morton, who's scheduled to start Friday against San Francisco. Anderson should pitch again within the next few days, however.

Marquez and the Rockies won't play Thursday against Atlanta after the game was postponed due to inclement weather.

Marquez will get an extra day of rest before he pitches Friday's series opener against Washington, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports. The right-hander will attempt to remain effective after he tossed six scoreless frames in his last start.

Gutierrez didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Pirates, giving up four runs on five hits and three walks over 3.2 innings. He failed to strike out a batter.

It was another poor performance from the 25-year-old rookie, who has failed to complete four innings in three of his last four starts. Gutierrez has gone 0-2 during that stretch with a 7.80 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 9:6 K:BB through 15 innings, but despite his late-season struggles the Reds are still 1.5 games back of the Cardinals for the second wild-card spot in the NL.

Musgrove (11-9) earned the win over San Francisco on Wednesday, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four over six innings.

For his second straight outing, Musgrove yielded exactly three runs over six frames, but whereas his last start resulted in a loss, the Padres gave the right-hander enough run support to notch a win Wednesday. The 28-year-old wasn't overpowering -- he induced only six swinging strikes and picked up just four punchouts -- but he was able to register his eighth quality start in his past 10 appearances. Musgrove will carry a 2.99 ERA into his next start, which is likely to come in a rematch with San Francisco -- this time at home -- early next week.

Urias (18-3) earned the win over Arizona on Wednesday, completing five innings and allowing two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out five.

The southpaw exited after 76 pitches and five frames, which Urias stated was part of a pre-determined plan, per Michael J. Duarte of NBC LA. That kept him from logging a quality start, but Urias nonetheless managed to extended his streak of winning starts to five and add another victory to his MLB-leading total. Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports that Urias' velocity was down a bit in the outing, which may be a consequence of the 25-year-old more than doubling his previous big-league high mark for a season with 168.1 innings pitched. The Dodgers are off Thursday and Monday, which should provide Urias extra rest before his next start, which tentatively lines up to take place at Colorado next Wednesday.
