Suarez (6-4) earned the win Sunday against Arizona after tossing 5.1 innings of one-run ball, allowing five hits and two walks while fanning five.

Suarez out-dueled Madison Bumgarner and delivered another impressive outing, but perhaps more importantly, he bounced back after dropping his previous outing against the Diamondbacks earlier this month. Suarez has moved between the rotation and the bullpen this season but has been effective in both roles. He owns a blistering 1.80 ERA across his previous 10 appearances, though a 26:15 K:BB across 30 innings in that stretch suggests he still needs to work a bit more on his control and command.

Eder is expected to undergo Tommy John surgery on his left elbow in the upcoming days, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

The impending elbow procedure is a devastating setback for the 22-year-old lefty, whom the Marlins selected with the 104th overall pick in the 2020 first-year player draft. After the 2020 minor-league season was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, Eder dazzled in his debut campaign at Double-A Pensacola, racking up 99 strikeouts in 71.1 innings while submitting a 1.77 ERA and 0.98 WHIP. Those exceptional numbers would have put Eder in the conversation for a look in the Miami rotation in 2022, but instead, he'll miss the remainder of the 2021 season and most likely, all of next season as well.

Ashby (1-0) allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out four over five innings in a win over the Twins on Sunday.

Sunday was Ashby's longest outing of the season and just the second time eclipsing four innings or more in five appearances this year. His only trouble came in the fourth, after allowing a leadoff walk to Rob Refsnyder, Ashby served up a two-run shot to Miguel Sano to make it a 6-2 ballgame. The 23-year-old had pitched 11 straight scoreless innings before the home run and now owns a 3.95 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 13:5 K:BB over 13.2 innings. He tentatively lines up for a home start against the Cardinals next weekend.

Hendricks (14-6) was tagged for eight runs across 4.2 innings and took the loss Sunday against the White Sox. He allowed seven hits and two walks while striking out four.

For the second time this month, Hendricks allowed at least eight runs in a start. Home runs did in the righty Sunday, as he allowed three long balls, which accounted for six of the eight runs charged to Hendricks. The 31-year-old came into Sunday tied for the MLB lead with 14 wins, but he hasn't been as sharp this season as in years past. His 4.43 ERA is more than a run higher than his career mark of 3.29. Hendricks will look to get back on track in his next scheduled outing, which is currently lined up for Sept. 5 against the Pirates.

Manager Joe Girardi acknowledged Saturday that Eflin (knee, COVID-19 injured list) could miss the remainder of the regular season, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. "I would say that's probably fair, yeah," Girardi said, when asked if Eflin was a shutdown candidate. "I would think so, because it's not like you're going to be doing a lot of throwing, probably."

After making an abbreviated minor-league rehab start Aug. 21, Eflin was activated from the 10-day injured list in advance of his scheduled outing Thursday against the Diamondbacks, but he was unable to take the hill after his right patellar tendintis flared up prior to the contest. The Phillies placed him on the 10-day injured list Friday, only to transfer him to the COVID-19 IL later that day after he tested positive for the coronavirus. Eflin will now have to complete a quarantine of at least 10 days before he's allowed to rejoin the Phillies for workouts, and it's not clear if he'll even be ready to start up a throwing program by then. With just five weeks left in the regular season and a pair of medical concerns in tow, Eflin doesn't look as though he'll have enough time to ramp up for starting duty. If he does make his way back from the IL before season's end, Eflin may have to settle for a bullpen role.

Manager Jayce Tingler said Paddack (oblique) will be activated from the 10-day injured list Monday to start the Padres' series opener in Arizona, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Paddack received the green light to make his first start since July 27 after his strained left oblique checked out fine following his bullpen session Saturday. Because Paddack didn't head out on a rehab assignment during his time on the IL, he'll likely be eased back into the San Diego rotation Monday with a more limited pitch count than usual.

Senzatela (3-9) was credited with the win in Sunday's 5-0 victory over the Dodgers, allowing two hits and a walk with five strikeouts across seven scoreless innings.

Senzatela was brilliant Sunday, recording more strikeouts than baserunners permitted against a potent Los Angeles lineup. The 26-year-old righty retired the first 12 batters he faced and needed just 90 pitches to navigate seven strong innings. Senzatela concludes August with a 2.97 ERA in five starts and lines up to face Atlanta next weekend.

Gray (forearm) is expected to test his injury during a throwing session Monday, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports.

Gray left Saturday's start against the Dodgers due to right forearm tightness, and manager Bud Black said Sunday that the 29-year-old is questionable for his next turn through the rotation, which would come Thursday at home versus Atlanta. The Rockies should have a better idea of the right-hander's status based on how he feels following Monday's throwing session.

Anderson (6-5) allowed four hits and two walks over 5.2 shutout innings while earning a win over the Giants on Sunday.

Surprisingly, Anderson managed to produce his first scoreless outing since June 21 despite not striking out a single batter. It was his first appearance since July 11 after a stint on the injured list with a shoulder issue. He took care of the Giants' lineup with relative ease as he never allowed an extra-base hit. Anderson now owns a 3.36 ERA through 101.2 innings. He's projected to start in Colorado next weekend.

Mahle (10-5) allowed two runs on four hits and two walks over seven innings Sunday, striking out six and taking a loss against the Marlins.

Mahle coughed up a two-run shot to Jesus Sanchez in the first inning but settled in to toss six shutout frames after. Aside from the homer, the other three hits he allowed were singles. The 26-year-old has allowed two or fewer runs in four of his last five starts, lowing his season ERA to 3.64 through 148.1 innings. Mahle is lined up to face Detroit at home next weekend.
