Nola allowed two runs on three hits and no walks while striking out seven in 5.1 innings in Friday's win over Arizona. He didn't factor into the decision.

Nola lasted 8.2 innings during his last start, but he needed 93 pitches to get through 5.1 innings Friday. The right-hander has lasted at least five innings during six of his eight starts since the All-Star break, and he's recorded a 3.80 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 55:10 K:BB in 47.1 innings during that time. He tentatively lines up to make his next start on the road against Washington on Wednesday.

Musgrove (9-8) allowed three hits and two walks over nine shutout innings Friday, striking out nine and earning a win over the Angels.

Musgrove dominated Friday, allowing just one Angel into scoring position in his second shutout of the year. He finished at least seven innings for the first time in August and has given up two or fewer runs in six of his last seven outings. Friday's masterpiece lowered his season ERA to 2.85 alongside a 169:39 K:BB through 148.1 innings. Musgrove is projected to face Houston at home next week.

Lauer (4-5) yielded two runs on six hits and two walks over 4.2 innings Friday, striking out six and taking a loss against Minnesota.

Lauer coughed up a two-run homer to Josh Donaldson in the first inning but avoided any further damage. He needed 102 pitches (63 strikes) to get through 4.2 frames and has now failed to finish five innings in three straight starts. The 26-year-old's ERA is now up to 3.61 through 82.1 innings. Lauer is lined up to face the Giants on the road next week.

Gausman allowed two runs on six hits and struck out two over six innings versus Atlanta on Friday. He walked none and he did not factor in the decision.

Gausman spent a few days on the COVID-19 injured list with vaccine side effects, but he seemed to be feeling just fine while throwing 62 of his 91 pitches for strikes. This was Gausman's first quality start since Aug. 4, as he failed to meet the six-inning requirement in each of his last three outings. The right-hander has a 2.49 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 176:46 K:BB through 152 innings this season. He lines up for another challenging matchup versus Milwaukee next week.

Fried allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits while striking out five over six innings versus San Francisco on Friday. He walked none and he did not factor in the decision.

The southpaw pitched a complete-game shutout versus baseball's worst team in his last start, but he understandably had a tougher time against the league-leading Giants. Fried allowed just seven runs (five earned) across 33 innings in August, winning four of his five starts with Friday being the lone exception. He has a 3.54 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 122:34 K:BB across 124.2 innings overall. Fried is projected to make his next start on the road versus the Dodgers next week.

Peralta (shoulder) impressed during Friday's bullpen session, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

The Brewers have been hoping Peralta will be able to return by late next week or sometime next weekend, and he drew praise from manager Craig Counsell following Friday's throwing session. The right-hander will likely throw another bullpen in the coming days before the team doctors determine his return date.

Kershaw (forearm) threw a successful bullpen session Friday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Manager Dave Roberts said Friday that Kershaw wasn't throwing at 100 percent during the session, but he was able to incorporate breaking balls into his workload. The southpaw will throw his third bullpen session Monday.

Eflin (knee) was placed on the COVID-19 injured list Friday.

It's not yet clear if he's tested positive for the virus. Eflin was already moved to the 10-day injured list earlier Friday due to right knee tendinitis, so him being added to the COVID-19 IL likely won't have a huge impact on his availability going forward. The right-hander underwent an MRI on his knee earlier Friday and is awaiting the results.

Gausman is starting Friday's game against Atlanta after being activated from the COVID-19 list, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Gausman was placed on the COVID-19 list Tuesday because of vaccine side effects, but there was never really a doubt that he would be able to make his scheduled start Friday. With him back on the active roster, Chadwick Tromp was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento.

Syndergaard (elbow) is scheduled to throw one-plus innings with High-A Brooklyn on Sunday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Syndergaard made his first rehab appearances with Brooklyn on Thursday and threw 16 pitches over an inning of work, and he's slated for a slightly heavier workload his second time out. Keep in mind that Syndergaard is throwing just fastballs and changeups, as he has been instructed to scrap his curveball and slider, the latter of which caused his May setback. The right-hander isn't building up as a starter as he returns from Tommy John surgery, which should allow him to return as a bullpen piece for the Mets down the stretch.
