Walker (1-1) earned the win Sunday against the Nationals by tossing seven scoreless innings. He allowed three hits and three walks while walking four.

Walker completed his best outing of the season, pitching more than six innings for the first time and notching his second quality start. It was his first scoreless outing of the campaign as well, though it's worth noting Walker has yet to allow more than two runs in any of his four starts. He owns a strong 2.14 ERA through four appearances. His next start is scheduled for Saturday at Philadelphia.

Cardinals manager Mike Shildt all but confirmed that Oviedo will start Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. "I don't think it's a state secret," Shildt said.

Shildt previously hinted that the Cardinals would move from a five-man to a six-man rotation while the team faces a stretch of 17 games in 17 days. Oviedo previously cemented himself as the next man up for the rotation after he impressed in a long-relief appearance against the Brewers on April 11, when he struck out four over 4.2 scoreless innings. He's spent the past couple weeks getting stretched out at the Cardinals' alternate training site, so he shouldn't face any major restrictions with his pitch count when he makes his first start of 2021 on Wednesday.

Giants manager Gabe Kapler said Sunday that he expects Cueto (lat) to miss a third turn through the rotation during the upcoming week, Mark W. Sanchez of KNBR 680 San Francisco reports.

Logan Webb is making his second turn in place of Cueto on Sunday against the Marlins, and he'll likely be in store for another start next weekend in San Diego while Cueto remains on the shelf. Cueto isn't believed to have suffered a setback in his recovery from a lat strain since landing on the injured list April 15, but he's not far enough along in his recovery program for the Giants to pinpoint a clear target date for his return.

Gutierrez was reinstated from the restricted list Sunday.

Gutierrez was issued an 80-game suspension for PEDs in June of 2020, and he served the majority of the ban last season. He threw 137 innings at Triple-A Louisville in 2019, and he could make an impact with the major-league pitching staff at some point during the campaign.

Strasburg (shoulder) has been throwing from 120 feet, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Earlier in the week, it had been reported that Strasburg was throwing from 75 feet, so this marks progress in his return from shoulder inflammation. He'll still need to throw from a mound before re-entering the rotation, so his activation from the injured list is not imminent.

Snell tossed 5.1 innings against the Dodgers on Saturday, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out seven. He did not factor in the decision.

Snell held the Dodgers mostly in check and was in position for a win over 5.1 frames, but he was removed with one out in the sixth inning after having thrown a modest 87 pitches. The move backfired on the Padres, as the bullpen gave up three runs in the remainder of the frame en route to a loss. Snell has yet to get out of the sixth inning this season, though he hasn't yet given up more than three runs in a game. He'll carry a 3.92 ERA into his next start, currently scheduled for Saturday at home against San Francisco.

Gausman hurled eight innings in a no-decision against Miami on Saturday, allowing one run on two hits and one walk while striking out 11.

Gausman was dominant in the start, inducing 21 swinging strikes and allowing only a pair of hits. His lone mistake resulted in a Jon Berti home run in the seventh inning, but a strong outing by counterpart Pablo Lopez helped keep Gausman from earning his second win. Nonetheless, the right-hander has enjoyed a strong beginning of the campaign, going at least six innings in all five of his starts and registering a 2.14 ERA along with a 34:10 K:BB across 33.2 frames. He'll head to San Diego to face the Padres in his next scheduled start Friday.

Lopez completed six innings against San Francisco on Saturday, yielding one run on two hits and one walk while striking out seven. He did not factor in the decision.

Lopez and Giants starter Kevin Gausman went toe-to-toe in a pitching duel, with each pitcher giving up a single run on two hits. Lopez didn't go as deep into the game as his counterpart, but he stuck around long enough to pick up his second straight quality start and third overall on the campaign. The right-hander has been very effective in four of his five starts this season and owns an excellent 2.93 ERA, though he doesn't yet have a win to show for it. He'll try to change that when he faces the Nationals in Washington on Friday in his next scheduled start.

Stroman (3-1) took the loss Saturday as the Mets fell 7-1 to the Nationals, coughing up five runs (four earned) on eight hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out four.

Things weren't going the Mets' way right from the jump, as a Michael Conforto two-base error put Nats leadoff hitter Josh Harrison on third base after a single on Stroman's second pitch of the game. The right-hander never seemed to regain his focus, allowing runs in all four frames before he made his exit, and he finished the day having thrown 43 of 72 pitches for strikes. Stroman will take a 2.25 ERA and 15:5 K:BB through 24.1 innings into his next start Friday in Philadelphia.

Nola (2-1) earned the win Saturday against the Rockies after giving up four runs on six hits and a walk across seven innings. He struck out four.

Nola might have allowed a season-high four runs, but he still earned his second win of the season while also performing at the plate -- he went 1-for-3 with two runs scored. The star right-hander owns a strong 2.84 ERA after five starts and is slated to take the ball next week against the Cardinals.
