Woodruff didn't factor into the decision in Thursday's extra-inning win over the Twins. He gave up three runs on six hits and two walks while fanning five across four innings.

Woodruff started on Opening Day for the second straight year but wasn't very effective, lasting just four innings despite tossing 50 of his 78 pitches for strikes. He found a way to limit the damage, however, and that bodes well for the 28-year-old right-hander as he looks to build on a 2020 campaign in which he posted career highs in ERA (3.05), WHIP (0.99) and K/9 (11.12).

Hendricks (0-1) allowed three earned runs on four hits and three walks across three innings to take the loss Thursday against the Pirates. He struck out four.

Hendricks didn't come close to matching his 2020 Opening Day start, in which he recorded a complete-game shutout of the Brewers. The righty got off to a rough start, allowing a two-run home run to No. 2 hitter Ke'Bryan Hayes, and he was eventually pulled after 63 pitches. There will be better days ahead for Hendricks, and he'll look to turn things around when he takes the hill again Wednesday against Milwaukee.

Alcantara did not factor into the decision during Thursday's Opening Day loss despite holding the Rays scoreless across six innings. He struck out seven while allowing two hits and a pair of walks.

The right-hander worked into and out of trouble during the first inning and coasted the rest of the way for a dazzling debut to the season. Unfortunately, his teammates couldn't get the offense going, as Tyler Glasnow and three Rays relievers shut them out. During spring action, Alcantara allowed two unearned runs on seven hits and eight walks while striking out 19 over 12.2 innings across four starts. The 25-year-old will look for his first win Tuesday against the Cardinals.

Gallen (forearm) was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday.

Gallen was diagnosed with a hairline fracture in his right forearm late in camp, and he'll officially miss the start of the regular season. The Diamondbacks haven't announced a timetable for Gallen's return, but the right-hander has reportedly been playing catch at "a low stress level" since the start of his recovery process.

Wood (back) was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Wood is slated to miss the first several weeks of the season after he underwent a minor back procedure in mid-March. He's currently working through a throwing program. Aaron Sanchez will serve as San Francisco's fifth starter while Wood is sidelined.

Lugo (elbow) was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Lugo underwent surgery in February to remove a loose body from his right elbow and hasn't yet resumed throwing. Although the right-hander is responding well to treatment, it's not yet clear when he could return to game action. Once Lugo is healthy, he should serve as a setup man behind Edwin Diaz.

Carrasco (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Carrasco isn't expected to return to game action before the start of May, but he recently started a throwing program and is doing well. Joey Lucchesi will serve as the fifth starter for the Mets while Carrasco is sidelined.

Freeland (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday, Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reports.

Freeland is expected to miss at least a month due to a left shoulder strain, so his move to the injured list is simply procedural. Chi Chi Gonzalez was seen as the favorite to serve as the fifth starter in Freeland's absence, but the newly acquired Jhoulys Chacin could claim a back-end rotation spot early in the season until Freeland returns.

Sanchez reported "slight discomfort" in his throwing shoulder Wednesday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Sanchez started a simulated game at the Marlins' alternate training site Wednesday but was removed early due to his injury. The Marlins were prioritizing his long-term health by keeping him off the Opening Day roster, but it's safe to assume that the team will be extra cautious with the 22-year-old now that he's dealing with a shoulder issue. The team will reevaluate Sanchez before determining the next steps in his recovery.

Lorenzen (shoulder) has been placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to March 29.

Lorenzen dealt with a right shoulder strain late in camp and recently experienced a small setback in his rehab program. It's not yet clear when the right-hander will be able to make his season debut, but Jeff Hoffman and Jose De Leon will fill in as starters while Lorenzen and Sonny Gray (back) are unavailable.
