Alex Wood RP | ATH
Dodgers' Alex Wood: Activated, shifting to bullpen
Wood (shoulder) was activated off the 10-day injured list Tuesday and will be available out of the bullpen, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
The 29-year-old made one start and allowed three runs over three innings before landing on the injured list July 28 with left shoulder inflammation, but he'll return Tuesday after spending a month on the shelf. Tony Gonsolin should remain a member of the rotation going forward, but if any injuries surface, Wood could receive another starting chance this season with Ross Stripling shipped to the Blue Jays on Monday.

Walker Buehler SP | SD
Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Returning to start Wednesday
Buehler (hand) will be activated off the 10-day injured list to start Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.
The 26-year-old was placed on the injured list last week with a blister on his right hand, but he won't end up spending much more than the 10-day minimum on the shelf. Buehler threw 30-plus pitches in a bullpen session over the weekend and shouldn't face significant limitations Wednesday, though he may not be cleared for his usual workout in his first start back. Clayton Kershaw's start was pushed to Thursday as a result of Buehler's return.

Merrill Kelly SP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Merrill Kelly: Officially shut down for season
The Diamondbacks shifted Kelly (shoulder) to the 45-day injured list Monday.
The transaction confirms that Kelly will miss the remainder of the season after doctors determined that a blood clot had caused a nerve impingement in his right shoulder. Kelly underwent a procedure to address the blood clot and is expected to be back to full strength for spring training. Considering how well Kelly pitched prior to getting shut down (2.59 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 29 strikeouts over 31.1 innings), the Diamondbacks will most likely exercise his affordable $5.25 million club option for 2021 over the winter.

Artie Lewicki SP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Artie Lewicki: Returns to majors
Lewicki's contract was selected by the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
Lewicki last appeared in the majors in 2018 prior to undergoing Tommy John surgery. He'll return to a major-league bullpen in Arizona, but he likely won't play a prominent relief role.

Ian Anderson RP | ATL
Braves' Ian Anderson: Making second start Tuesday
Anderson is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Red Sox.
Given the Braves' lack of alternative starting options along with the fact that he limited an injury-ravaged Yankees lineup to one run over six innings in his MLB debut last week, there was little doubt Anderson would receive another turn through the rotation. Though he'll be making his first career road start Tuesday, Anderson will benefit from a matchup with another depleted lineup in the Red Sox, who are without slugger J.D. Martinez (hand).

German Marquez SP | SD
Rockies' German Marquez: Takes loss against Padres
Marquez (2-5) was tagged with the loss Monday against the Padres. He allowed five runs on eight hits and two walks while fanning seven across six innings.
Marquez pitched past the fifth inning for the first time since Aug. 15, but his winless streak extended to five outings regardless as he couldn't contain the red-hot Padres offense. Marquez has gone 0-4 with a 6.83 ERA in his last five outings.

Trevor Williams RP | TEX
Pirates' Trevor Williams: Struggles again Monday
Williams gave up five runs (three earned) on seven hits and two walks over four innings versus the Brewers on Monday. He struck out six and did not factor in the decision.
Williams' struggles were not his alone, as the Pirates made two errors that led to runs in the second and fourth innings. The 28-year-old didn't help his own cause much, allowing eight or more baseunners for the fourth straight start. Williams has a 5.50 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 32:12 K:BB through 34.1 innings this season. He'll look for better control Saturday versus the Reds.

Anthony DeSclafani RP | ARI
Reds' Anthony DeSclafani: Crushed by Cards
DeSclafani (1-2) took the loss Monday as the Reds fell 7-5 to the Cardinals, surrendering seven runs on seven hits and four walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out three.
The right-hander had no feel for the strike zone after returning from the paternity list over the weekend, throwing only 48 of 92 pitches for strikes. When he did get the ball over the plate, bad things tended to happen -- DeSclafani was scored upon in all four of his frames, and his last pitch left the yard for a grand slam. The disastrous outing inflated his ERA by two whole runs, and he'll take a rough 7.71 mark into his next start Saturday in Pittsburgh.

Max Fried SP | NYY
Braves' Max Fried: Moves to 6-0
Fried (6-0) allowed two runs on two walks and five hits over five innings Monday, striking out five and picking up the win over Boston.
Fried was a bit shaky to start the game, allowing a run in the first and third innings before settling in. He's a perfect 6-0 on the season and is currently riding a four-start win streak. The 26-year-old owns a stellar 1.60 ERA and 43:14 K:BB across 45 innings this year. Fried will take on the Nationals at home Saturday.

Jacob deGrom SP | TEX
Mets' Jacob deGrom: Start spoiled by rough sixth inning
DeGrom (2-1) took the loss Monday against the Marlins, allowing four runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks across six innings pitched. He struck out nine.
It was looking like the defending National League Cy Young winner would cruise to 3-0 as he allowed just two hits in five scoreless innings to start the outing. However a solo homer by Garrett Cooper to start the sixth, followed by a fielding error and three more hits, led to a four-run inning for the Marlins. All in all, the right-hander was charged with just one earned run, though he took his first loss of the campaign. DeGrom will look to get back in win column when he takes the hill Sunday against the Phillies.
