  • Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Cruises to 13th win

Kershaw (13-2) picked up the win against the Blue Jays on Tuesday, giving up three earned runs on six hits over six innings, striking out six and walking three in a 16-3 blowout victory for the Dodgers.

His offense stole the show, but Kershaw did in his part in tossing a quality start and picking up his 13th win of the season. It was his eighth quality start in a row, as the dominant lefty continues to log another impressive campaign, sporting a 2.71 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 147:31 K:BB across 143 innings.

  • Steven Matz RP | TB

Mets' Steven Matz: Delivers another quality start

Matz (8-7) earned the win Tuesday versus the Indians after allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits with seven strikeouts and two walks over 6.1 innings.

Matz really only had trouble with one hitter Tuesday, as Jason Kipnis brought home both runs with a solo homer and an RBI single. The 28-year-old now has three straight quality starts in which he's given up five runs (three earned) across 19 innings in total. Matz lines up to close the week with a start against the Braves at home.

  • Dallas Keuchel SP | MIL

Braves' Dallas Keuchel: Tallies fourth victory

Keuchel (4-5) earned the win Tuesday against the Marlins after giving up one run on six hits over six innings. He had seven strikeouts and two walks.

Keuchel served up a solo homer to Jon Berti during the third, but he was otherwise effective, scattering four singles and a double. The veteran southpaw has found his groove in his last two starts with a 14:4 K:BB and only one run surrendered over 12 innings, and he'll look to continue that trend on the road Monday versus the Mets.

  • Kyle Freeland SP | COL

Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Leaves Tuesday's start

Freeland exited Tuesday's start at Arizona with an apparent leg injury, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports.

Freeland was pulled with one out in the sixth inning and appeared to be limping when he was looked at by the athletic trainer. He gave up five runs (three earned) on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts prior to leaving the contest.

  • Aaron Nola SP | PHI

Phillies' Aaron Nola: Earns 12th win

Nola (12-3) allowed two earned runs on four hits and a walk while striking out seven across seven innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Red Sox.

Nola's lone blemish came in the third inning when he allowed a two-run homer to Jackie Bradley. However, he went on to retire 14 of the last 17 batters he faced and has now worked more than six innings in five of seven starts since the All-Star break. As a result, he owns a 3.51 ERA and 1.23 WHIP with 180 strikeouts across 161.1 innings -- mostly correcting a slow start to the season. He'll look to maintain his strong form in his next outing, currently scheduled for Sunday at Miami.

  • Cole Hamels SP | SD

Cubs' Cole Hamels: Looks better in win

Hamels (7-4) allowed three runs over six innings to pick up the win Tuesday against the Giants. He gave up five hits and two walks, while striking out five.

After allowing 12 earned runs across five innings in his previous two starts, this was a welcome strong outing for Hamels. All the damage came on a pair of home runs, but the lefty generally limited baserunners and navigated his six innings on 94 pitches (58 strikes). Hamels will take a 3.73 ERA and a little bit of positive momentum into his next start, which is scheduled for Sunday against the Nationals.

  • Sonny Gray SP | BOS

Reds' Sonny Gray: Dominates to earn ninth win

Gray (9-6) allowed one earned run on four hits and three walks while striking out 10 across six innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Padres.

Gray held the Padres scoreless through 5.2 innings, until he surrendered a solo home run to Josh Naylor. That didn't sour his spectacular performance as he generated 19 swinging strikes to back his second straight double-digit strikeout performance (third of the campaign). Through 138.2 innings, Gray now owns a 2.92 ERA and 1.12 WHIP to go along with 164 strikeouts for the season. He's shown no signs of slowing down, allowing just one earned run across his last 24 innings -- a span of four starts. He'll look to keep things going in his next appearance, currently scheduled for Monday at Miami.

  • Cal Quantrill RP | TEX

    Padres' Cal Quantrill: Whiffs nine

Quantrill (6-4) allowed three earned runs on five hits and no walks while striking out nine across six innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Reds.

Quantrill turned in a baseline quality start, and his only major stumble came in the sixth inning when he surrendered a two-run homer to Freddy Galvis. He was otherwise dominant, at one point retiring 11 consecutive Reds' hitters -- six of which came via strikeout. Quantrill has quietly turned in strong results since the All-Star break, allowing only eight earned runs across 34.1 innings while racking up 34 punchouts. For the season, he now has a 3.32 ERA and 1.09 WHIP across 81.1 innings. He'll look to keep things going in his next start, currently scheduled for Tuesday against the Dodgers.

  • Dodgers' Ross Stripling: Tosses bullpen session

Stripling (biceps/neck) completed a bullpen session Tuesday and "felt great," Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Stripling was placed on the 10-day injured list July 27 with a biceps injury and has also been dealing with a sore neck. He will next throw a two-inning simulated game and then head out on a rehab assignment before returning to the Dodgers in September.

  • Robbie Ray SP | SD

Diamondbacks' Robbie Ray: Tosses side session

Ray (back) threw a 35-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Jody Jackson of FOX Sports Arizona reports.

Ray was placed on the 10-day injured list last Thursday due to back spasms, though he felt good during Tuesday's bullpen session and appears to be in line for a quick return. His next step figures to be either a simulated game or another side session.
