Pirates' Joe Musgrove: Yields three homers
Musgrove (7-9) allowed six runs (five earned) on seven hits with one walk and two strikeouts across five innings while taking a loss against the Cardinals on Thursday.

Musgrove gave up just three homers in five June starts. He owns a 4.29 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 100 strikeouts in 115.1 innings this season and will look to get back on track Tuesday at the Reds.

Miles Mikolas RP | WAS
Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Posts another quality start
Mikolas (7-10) allowed three runs on five hits with one walk and five strikeouts across six innings while earning a victory against the Pirates on Thursday.
This was Mikolas' third straight quality start, and during this stretch, he's gone 2-1 with a 2.57 ERA. This has been a nice response since yielding seven runs in 10 frames just prior to the All-Star break. Overall, Mikolas owns a 4.19 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 87 strikeouts in 120.1 innings this season. He will pitch next at home against the Cubs on Wednesday.

Eric Lauer SP | LAD
Padres' Eric Lauer: Fails to complete three innings
Lauer (5-8) allowed four runs on six hits with three walks and a strikeout across 2.1 innings while taking a loss against the Mets on Thursday.
The 24-year-old gave up four runs in the first and that was it for the rest of the game from both offenses. Lauer faced 13 batters through the first two frames, and then when the Mets had first and third with one out during the third, the Padres went to the bullpen. Lauer has lost four straight decisions and hasn't won a game since June 3. He owns a 4.58 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 80 strikeouts in 98.1 innings this season. Lauer will look to break his losing streak against the lowly Orioles at home Tuesday.

Mets' Jacob deGrom: Throws seven scoreless
DeGrom (6-7) threw seven shutout innings while allowing four hits with one walk and nine strikeouts on his way to a victory against the Padres on Thursday.

Like last season, deGrom is struggling to earn victories, but he does possess a 2.86 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 163 strikeouts in 129 innings. He will pitch next at the White Sox on Wednesday.

Cole Hamels SP | SD
Cubs' Cole Hamels: Likely to make one more rehab start
Hamels (oblique) will likely make one more rehab start before getting activated from the injured list either Aug. 2 or 3, Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Hamels pitched in a rehab game with Triple-A Iowa Tuesday, tossing 35 pitches over 2.1 innings. The Cubs will likely want to see the lefty go a bit longer in his next outing before deeming him ready for a return to the majors. Hamels has a 2.98 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 97:35 K:BB in 99.2 innings this season

Jon Gray SP | TEX
Rockies' Jon Gray: On track for next start
Gray (calf) is on track to start Monday against the Dodgers, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
Gray exited his previous start with a right calf bruise after getting struck by a line drive, but he's already feeling better and isn't expected to miss a start as a result. In his past five outings, the right-hander owns a 4.50 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 25:12 K:BB in 28 innings.

Sonny Gray SP | BOS
Reds' Sonny Gray: Start pushed back
Gray will start Monday against the Pirates.
Gray was originally scheduled to pitch over the weekend, but the right-hander will be afforded an extra day of rest before his next start with Alex Wood (back) set to rejoin the rotation Sunday. In three starts since the All-Star break, Gray owns an impressive 1.84 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 24:5 K:BB in 19 innings.

Alex Wood RP | ATH
Reds' Alex Wood: Set for season debut Sunday
Wood (back) will be activated from the 60-day injured list to start Sunday against the Rockies.
Wood has been sidelined all season with back issues, but he's been cleared to make his 2019 big-league debut after completing a four-game minor-league rehab assignment. In his most recent outing, Wood tossed six innings and gave up one run on four hits and no walks while striking out four for Double-A Chattanooga. The southpaw ran his pitch count up to 85 in that outing, suggesting he shouldn't face any restrictions in his first game back.

Jameson Taillon SP | TOR
Pirates' Jameson Taillon: Likely headed for surgery
Taillon (elbow) is expected to require surgery to repair his injured elbow, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
It sounds like Taillon will be forced to go under the knife after suffering a setback in his recovery from a flexor strain earlier in the week. The hope is that the right-hander will only need his flexor repaired, which would allow him to be ready for the start of next season. More should be known after he visits with an orthopedic surgeon Monday.

Ross Stripling SP | KC
Dodgers' Ross Stripling: Uncertain to make next start
Stripling (neck) admitted after exiting early in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Angels that he's a "50-50" proposition for his next scheduled start July 30 in Colorado, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Stripling took the loss despite giving up only two runs on three hits and no walks over five innings, but he was fortunate to avoid more damage to his ERA and WHIP. According to the Associated Press, Stripling said his fastball velocity sat in the 87-to-88 mile-per-hour range in his final inning. Stripling, who revealed that he woke up with neck pain before deciding to pitch through the condition Wednesday, previously battled neck problems in spring training, which could prompt the Dodgers to act cautiously with him. Even if Stripling had entered the upcoming week in optimal health, he'd make for a dicey lineup choice while pitching at the hitters' paradise that is Coors Field.
