  • Merrill Kelly SP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Merrill Kelly: Roughed up by O's

Kelly (7-10) picked up the loss by allowing seven runs on eight hits while striking out four over 2.1 innings Monday against Baltimore.

It started well for Kelly, who retired the side in order in the first inning, but the Orioles bats touched him for three home runs and chased him after seven outs. The right-hander has gone seven straight starts without tasting victory while giving up 1.9 HR/9 during that stretch. Kelly will look to halt his winless streak next Monday on the road against the Marlins.

  • Kenta Maeda SP | NYY

Dodgers' Kenta Maeda: Allows three runs in loss

Maeda (7-7) took the loss against the Angels on Tuesday, hurling 4.1 innings and giving up three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out seven.

Maeda held the Angels to one run through four innings but surrendered a long home run to Mike Trout in the fifth, which was quickly followed by a Justin Upton double. Maeda was then pulled from the game -- due in part to tossing 95 pitches on a warm Los Angeles night -- and charged with another run when Upton came around to score. The 31-year-old has now lost five straight decisions to even his record at 7-7 despite allowing three runs or fewer in four of the five losses. He'll carry a 3.81 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 113:36 K:BB into high altitude when he faces the Rockies on Monday in his next scheduled start.

  • Aaron Nola SP | PHI

Phillies' Aaron Nola: Allows one earned run

Nola gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits and one walk across seven innings during Tuesday's 15-inning 3-2 win at Detroit. He had seven strikeouts but did not factor in the decision.

Nola allowed an unearned run during the first inning thanks to an error, a hit-by-pitch and a wild pitch, but he responded by firing five shutout frames before surrendering an earned run in the sixth. The 26-year-old gave up four runs in his previous start but has overall been dealing in July with a 1.93 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 35:14 K:BB in 32.2 innings. Nola lines up to pitch against the Giants next Tuesday thanks to a pair of scheduled off days.

  • Zach Davies SP | WAS

Brewers' Zach Davies: Messed up by Reds

Davies (8-3) took the loss Tuesday as the Brewers fell 14-6 to the Reds, coughing up seven runs (six earned) on nine hits and a walk over four-plus innings while striking out seven.

The right-hander got tagged for two homers and four runs in the first inning, then Davies got chased from the game in the fifth after the first three batters he faced all reached base and eventually came around to score. He'll carry a 3.17 ERA and 75:36 K:BB through 113.2 innings into his next start, July 30 in Oakland.

  • Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Earns 13th win

Strasburg (13-4) tossed six shutout innings while allowing three hits with two walks and striking out eight on his way to earning a victory against the Rockies on Tuesday.

This was Strasburg's sixth straight win and in three of his last four starts, he hasn't allowed a run. During the win streak, Strasburg has posted a 10.7 K/9 and allowed only one homer. Overall, he owns a 3.37 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 159 strikeouts in 133.2 innings this season. Strasburg will face the Dodgers next at home Sunday.

  • Chris Paddack RP | TEX

Padres' Chris Paddack: Falters in sixth inning

Paddack (6-5) was handed the loss Tuesday against the Mets after giving up three runs on five hits over five innings. He struck out four and walked two.

Paddack delivered five frames of one-run ball, but he returned for the sixth inning and allowed two runs on a walk and two hits, including a homer from Robinson Cano, Cano's second of three homers for the game. The 23-year-old has a 2.84 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 99:21 K:BB through 17 starts in his impressive rookie campaign.

  • Dallas Keuchel SP | MIL

Braves' Dallas Keuchel: Whiffs 12 in strong start

Keuchel allowed two earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out 12 across six innings Tuesday against the Royals. He did not factor into the decision.

Keuchel hadn't struck out more than five batters in any start entering Tuesday's contest, and his 12 punchouts marked his highest total since September 6, 2015. He generated an impressive 22 called strikes and 17 swinging strikes across 102 total pitches. Keuchel has now notched four quality starts in his last five outings, bringing his ERA to 3.50 and WHIP to 1.26 across 43.2 innings for the campaign. He'll look to keep his strong results going in his next start, currently scheduled for Monday at Washington.

  • Wes Parsons RP | CLE

Braves' Wes Parsons: Returning to Triple-A

Parsons was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett following Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Royals, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Parsons recorded one out and wasn't charged with any runs Tuesday, but he didn't pitch well as he allowed two inherited runners to score via two walks and a hit by pitch. The Braves are likely to call up another reliever to bolster their bullpen depth Wednesday.

  • Johnny Cueto SP | LAA

Giants' Johnny Cueto: Set to face live hitters

Cueto (elbow) is scheduled to face live hitters Wednesday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

It will be the first time Cueto has faced live batters since undergoing Tommy John surgery in August 2018. The 33-year-old is expected to begin rehab games with the Giants' AZL affiliate in early August while he attempts to return to the majors for the final month of the season.

  • Max Fried SP | NYY

Braves' Max Fried: Tossing side session Tuesday

Fried (finger) is scheduled to throw bullpen sessions Tuesday and Thursday, and if all goes well, he'll start Sunday's game against the Phillies, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Fried landed on the 10-day injured list a week ago due to a blister, but he's on track to return for Sunday's series finale if both of his side sessions go as planned. He owns a 4.08 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with a 102:31 K:BB over 103.2 innings this season.
