Marlins' Jose Urena: Dealing with herniated disc
Urena is dealing with a herniated disc in his lower back, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.
Urena's injury had been called simply lower-back tightness when he landed on the injured list Wednesday, but an MRI that day revealed a more significant injury. He's been placed on the 60-day injured list and won't return until mid-August at the earliest.

Jose Urena SP | LAA
Marlins' Jose Urena: Shifts to 60-day IL
Urena (back) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Urena was previously said to be dealing with some lower-back tightness, but the injury has been further diagnosed as a left lower-back strain that will apparently require significant recovery time. The 27-year-old won't be eligible to rejoin the Marlins' 25-man roster until mid-August. Jordan Yamamoto entered the starting rotation in Urena's place Wednesday and should continue to see starting chances in his absence.

Jack Flaherty SP | DET
Cardinals' Jack Flaherty: Misses bats in no-decision
Flaherty racked up eight strikeouts and allowed four earned runs on six hits and two walks across 5.1 innings in a tie game suspended by rain in the ninth inning versus the Mets on Thursday. He will not factor into the eventual decision.
Flaherty won't pick up a win for his troubles, but his performance Thursday was relatively encouraging after a rough outing versus the Cubs in his previous start. The right-hander had been chased after 3.2 innings in that outing, but he was much more effective from a strikeout perspective versus the Mets. Flaherty recorded 17 swinging strikes overall and equaled his best whiff tally over his last seven trips to the mound. The 23-year-old still sports an unsightly 6.43 ERA across his first three starts of June, however, a figure he'll look to whittle down in his next scheduled turn, Tuesday at home against the Marlins.

Julio Urias SP | LAD
Dodgers' Julio Urias: Picks up third save
Urias earned a save by holding the Cubs scoreless over three innings Thursday, allowing only one hit and one walk.
The 22-year-old lefty was called upon to relieve Clayton Kershaw and needed only 41 pitches to close out the game in three tidy innings. Though he is no threat to take over Kenley Jansen's closer job anytime soon, the fact that Urias has picked up three saves is a good indication that manager Dave Roberts trusts him as a crucial component of a bullpen that has been one of the team's few weak areas this season.

Clayton Kershaw SP | LAD
Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Settles down to earn sixth win
Kershaw (6-1) took the win versus the Cubs on Thursday, pitching six innings and allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out eight.
The Cubs got to Kershaw for a pair of runs in the first inning and another in the third, but the lefty settled down to hold Chicago scoreless for the remainder of his outing. In doing so, Kershaw improved his record to 6-1 and picked up his 10th quality start in 11 appearances this season. Kershaw's overall numbers may be down a tick from the period when he was the unquestioned best pitcher in baseball, but with a 3.13 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 67:12 K:BB, he remains in the upper echelon of major-league pitchers. He'll square off at home against the Giants on Tuesday in his next scheduled start.

Jon Gray SP | TEX
Rockies' Jon Gray: Whiffs 10 in win
Gray (6-5) earned the win against San Diego on Thursday, allowing four runs on nine hits in six innings. He struck out 10 and did not walk a batter.
Gray got off to a rocky start, allowing a pair of first-inning runs, but recovered to record his third win in his last four decisions. Along the way, he tied his season high with 10 strikeouts and did not issue a walk for the first time this season. Though San Diego managed nine hits off Gray, he was able to limit the damage by missing bats, inducing a total of 20 swinging strikes. Gray will take a 4.39 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 93:31 K:BB into his next start at Arizona on Wednesday.

Zack Greinke SP | KC
Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke: Notches eighth win
Greinke (8-2) allowed two hits and no walks while striking out three across 7.1 scoreless innings to earn the win Thursday against the Nationals.
Greinke held a no-hitter through six innings before allowing an infield single to Trea Turner to begin the seventh frame. He worked with exceptional efficiency, beginning 16 of the 23 batters he faced with a strike and needing only 75 pitchers to retire 22 batters. It was another dominant outing for Greinke, who has not allowed an earned in each of his past two starts, spanning 13.1 innings. He'll draw his next start Tuesday at home against the Rockies.

Lyon Richardson RP | MIL
Reds' Lyon Richardson: Best start of season
Richardson allowed two unearned runs over six innings Wednesday for Low-A Dayton. He struck out a season-high seven batters while walking one and allowing two hits, MiLB.com reports.
Richardson was the Reds' second-round pick in 2018 but dealt with elbow problems after becoming a professional last year. He has a 4.10 ERA with a 50:18 K:BB over 59.1 innings at Dayton.

Joe Musgrove SP | SD
Pirates' Joe Musgrove: Yields six runs in loss
Musgrove (4-7) allowed six runs on nine hits with three strikeouts and two walks across four-plus innings while taking a loss against the Braves on Thursday.
Through the first four innings, Musgrove worked around five hits to yield just one run, but the wheels came off in the fifth. Musgrove allowed a walk to start the frame and then four straight hits before the Pirates yanked him. Musgrove didn't record an out in the fifth, and the runner he left stranded also scored. Musgrove had a strong April, but since then, he owns a 7.59 ERA in his last nine starts. Overall, he is 4-7 with a 4.87 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 61 strikeouts in 77.2 innings. He will look to get back on track at home against the Tigers on Wednesday.

Julio Teheran SP | BAL
Braves' Julio Teheran: Continues incredible run
Teheran (5-4) allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits with two strikeouts and three walks across six innings to earn a victory against the Pirates on Thursday.
He trailed through four frames, but the Braves offense exploded in the fifth for five runs, which the bullpen barely let hold up for Teheran to capture the win. Teheran snapped his scoreless innings streak, but he is still 3-0 with a 0.81 ERA over his last eight outings. This hot streak has improved his numbers to 5-4, 2.92 ERA, .197 batting average against, 1.19 WHIP and 76 strikeouts in 83.1 innings. Teheran will next pitch against the Mets at home Tuesday.
