  • Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Over strep throat

Syndergaard is feeling better after dealing with strep throat earlier in the week and will start Saturday's game against the Cardinals, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

He was sent home Tuesday due to the illness, but it will not affect his availability for his scheduled start this weekend. Syndergaard has a 3.27 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 49 strikeouts in 55 innings through eight starts since the start of May.

  • Brewers' Adrian Houser: Grabs second win

Houser pitched two scoreless innings and picked up his second win of the season in Wednesday's victory over the Astros.

Houser entered Wednesday's contest in the 13th inning and kept the Astros off the scoreboard, and he remained in the game for the 14th frame after the Brewers scored three runs in the top of the inning and was able to seal the win. Houser has posted a zero in the earned run column in eight straight outings, and has been stellar over the 15 innings during that span, giving up just seven hits while posting a 21:7 K:BB.

  • Pirates' JT Brubaker: Completes simulated game

Brubaker (forearm) tossed a two-inning, 35-pitch simulated game Wednesday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.

Brubaker, a member of the Triple-A Indianapolis rotation, has been out of commission since April 24 due to a forearm strain. Assuming his arm responds well to Wednesday's simulated game, Brubaker could report to a lower-level affiliate as soon as next week to begin a rehab assignment.

  • Mike Soroka SP | ARI

Braves' Mike Soroka: Finally stumbles against Bucs

Soroka didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 8-7 extra-innings win over the Pirates, giving up five runs on 10 hits and a walk over five innings while striking out three.

After reeling off eight straight quality starts, Soroka was probably overdue for a clunker. The 21-year-old still has an impeccable 1.92 ERA and 60:18 K:BB through 70.1 innings, and he'll look to get back on track Monday, at home against the Mets.

  • Mitch Keller SP | PIT

Pirates' Mitch Keller: Early exit in no-decision

Keller didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 8-7 extra-innings loss to Atlanta, coughing up six runs on 10 hits and two walks over three innings while striking out two.

The right-hander's second big-league start of the season went even worse than his first one did, but the Bucs took Keller off the hook for a loss when they tied things up in the sixth inning. He's now saddled with a 15.43 ERA in Pittsburgh despite his 3.10 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 74:25 K:BB through 58 innings with Triple-A Indianapolis, and the 23-year-old simply doesn't look ready for prime time.

  • Miles Mikolas RP | WAS

Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Stumbles in Miami

Mikolas (4-7) took the loss Wednesday, giving up five runs on eight hits and a walk over five innings while striking out four as the Cardinals were downed 9-0 by the Marlins.

The right-hander has now lost five straight decisions, with his last win coming over a month ago, and Mikolas has a 6.03 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 29:6 K:BB in 31.1 innings over the course of his losing streak. He'll get a chance at redemption against the Marlins back at home Monday.

  • Zach Eflin SP | BAL

Phillies' Zach Eflin: Fans nine in tough loss

Eflin (6-6) took the loss Wednesday as the Phillies fell 2-0 to the Diamondbacks, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk over eight innings while striking out nine.

The nine K's tied the right-hander's career high, but his eighth quality start of the season went to waste when the Philly offense couldn't solve Merrill Kelly. Eflin will carry a 2.81 ERA and 66:19 K:BB through 80 innings into his next outing Tuesday, on the road against the Nationals.

  • Merrill Kelly SP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Merrill Kelly: Shuts down Phillies for seventh win

Kelly (7-6) picked up the win Wednesday in a 2-0 victory over the Phillies, scattering three hits over 7.2 scoreless innings while striking out five.

A Nick Williams double to lead off the third inning marked the only time Kelly allowed a runner to get into scoring position all night. The right-hander has won three straight starts, lasting at least seven innings and giving up one run or less in each, and he'll take a 3.73 ERA and 63:25 K:BB over 82 innings into his next outing, at home against the Rockies in a series beginning June 18.

  • Reds' Anthony DeSclafani: Earns third win

DeSclafani (3-3) allowed one run on four hits and two walks across 5.2 innings to earn a victory against the Indians on Wednesday. He struck out two.

Keeping the ball in the park the last two outings has done wonders for DeSclafani. He has yielded just three runs in his last 10.2 innings (2.53 ERA), and during those two starts, he's permitted zero homers. Over his previous five appearances, DeSclafani allowed nine homers and posted a 6.94 ERA. He's still not pitching very deep into games, but owners are undoubtedly pleased with his last pair of outings. Overall, the 29-year-old is 3-3 with a 4.43 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 64 strikeouts in 65 innings. DeSclafani is scheduled to face the Astros at home next Tuesday.

  • Joey Lucchesi RP | LAA

Padres' Joey Lucchesi: Logs quality start in loss

Lucchesi (5-4) took the loss against the Giants on Wednesday, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out six across six innings.

After giving up a solo home run to Kevin Pillar in the second inning, Lucchesi held the Giants at bay until the fifth. He surrendered a trio of singles and a walk in that frame that allowed another two runs to score, including an unearned run stemming from Josh Naylor's throwing error. The left-hander looked much better this time out compared to his last start against the Giants on April 9, when he gave up a season-worst seven runs through just four innings. Unfortunately, his offense couldn't provide enough run support this time around. Through 13 starts, the 26-year-old owns a 4.11 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 73:20 K:BB. He'll look to get back into the win column in a Monday showdown against the Brewers.
