Kevin Gausman SP | CHC
Braves' Kevin Gausman: Ejected in second inning
Gausman was ejected from Friday's game against the Marlins in the second inning for throwing behind Jose Urena, 680 The Fan Atlanta reports.
Prior to exiting, Gausman allowed one run on one hit and one walk while striking out one across 1.2 innings. Seeing as the right-hander only threw 28 pitches before being tossed, manager Brian Snitker said he could be used sooner than his next scheduled start, per 680 The Fan Atlanta.

Jacob Nix SP | SD
Padres' Jacob Nix: Nearing throwing program
Nix (elbow) could begin a throwing program next week, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Nix is reportedly progressing well from a small UCL tear in his right elbow. The young right-hander, who opted to forego Tommy John surgery, said his elbow has healed nicely as a result of rest and a PRP injection. As such, Nix could be an option for the Padres during the second-half of the season, assuming he continues to progress without any setbacks.

Adrian Houser SP | SF
Brewers' Adrian Houser: Recalled by Brewers
Houser was recalled from Triple-A San Antonio on Friday.
Houser made one start for the Brewers in April, allowing five runs in four innings of work. He may be up as a reliever this time around, with Jay Jackson optioned in a corresponding move, but it's not out of the question that he gets another shot to start in place of Freddy Peralta, who owns an 8.31 ERA in five starts.

Brett Kennedy RP | CIN
Padres' Brett Kennedy: Transferred to 60-day IL
Kennedy (lat) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday.
The transaction clears space on the 40-man roster for Alex Dickerson, whose contract was purchased in a corresponding move. Kennedy remains without a clear target date to return from his lat strain.

Kyle Hendricks SP | LAA
Cubs' Kyle Hendricks: Wins second with shutout
Hendricks (2-4) allowed no runs on four hits and no walks in winning a complete-game shutout over the Cardinals on Friday. He struck out three.
Hendricks was outstanding, winning his ninth consecutive start. The right-hander permitted only four singles, no more than one in any inning. The 29-year-old brought his ERA and WHIP down to 3.93 ERA and 1.43, and he'll look to build upon this excellent outing in his next scheduled start Wednesday at home against Miami.
-
Jack Flaherty SP | DET
Cardinals' Jack Flaherty: Takes loss to Cubs
Flaherty (3-2) took the loss Friday, allowing three runs on four hits and four walks while striking out nine over 5.2 innings against the Cubs.
Flaherty ran into trouble in a three-batter sequence in the third inning, walking Daniel Descalso and Kris Bryant before allowing a three-run homer to Anthony Rizzo. The 23-year-old then steadied but was removed after 5.2 innings and 110 pitches. Flaherty has a 4.76 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP along with a 45:10 K:BB, and he'll look to rebound in his next start Wednesday at home against the Phillies.

Carlos Martinez SP | SF
Cardinals' Carlos Martinez: Beginning rehab as reliever
Martinez (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment as a reliever with Low-A Peoria on Sunday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Martinez has battled a shoulder strain since the start of camp, an issue he also dealt with in the back half of last season. The length of his absence means his rehab assignment is unlikely to be brief, though he at least won't have to build up to a starting pitcher's workload before being activated. Martinez could eventually return to the starting rotation later in the season.

Touki Toussaint RP | LAA
Braves' Touki Toussaint: Recalled by Braves
Toussaint was called up by the Braves on Friday.
Toussaint made one start and one relief appearance in his first stint with the Braves this season, posting a 9:3 K:BB over 7.1 innings but allowing eight runs (seven earned). He appears to be up in a relief role for now, as Shane Carle was optioned in a corresponding move Thursday.
-
Joey Wentz SP | ATL
Braves' Joey Wentz: Dazzles at Double-A
Wentz allowed a hit and a walk through seven scoreless innings while striking out five for Double-A Mississippi on Thursday.
The southpaw was perfect through six innings before finally walking a batter in the seventh. Wentz has had an erratic start to the year in his first look at Double-A, posting a 4.13 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 23:11 K:BB through 24 innings, but this performance gives a glimpse of his upside. Still only 21 years old, Atlanta has no reason to rush Wentz up the ladder, but if his development continues he could put himself in consideration for a big-league debut in 2020.

Stephen Strasburg SP | WAS
Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Reaches 1,500 strikeouts
Strasburg allowed one earned run on six hits and two walks while striking out nine across 6.2 innings Thursday against the Cardinals. He did not factor into the decision.
Strasburg became the fastest player to reach 1,500 career strikeouts, requiring just 1,272.1 innings to do so. He also turned in a strong outing otherwise, limiting the Cardinals to no extra-base hits while generating 23 called strikes and 18 swinging strikes. Early on this season, Strasburg has proven capable of consistently working deep into games, as he has reached six or more innings pitched in six of his seven starts. He'll look to keep things going, though he does draw a tough matchup at Milwaukee on Tuesday.
