Mitch Keller SP | PIT
Pirates' Mitch Keller: Struggling with control
Keller allowed three runs (two earned) in 4.2 innings in his Triple-A season debut. He gave up three hits and five walks, striking out six.
The top prospect carried over a disappointing Grapefruit League showing (10 earned runs in four innings) with continued inconsistent control Friday. Keller needed 90 pitches to navigate less than five innings, throwing only 51 pitches for strikes. His five free passes tied a career high. Opportunity knocks for the right-hander in 2019, but he'll need to demonstrate better control. In 2018, Keller's walk rate jumped from 3.4 BB/9 (Double-A) to 3.8 BB/9 (Triple-A), though the 23-year-old was pitching at the Triple-A level for the first time.

Rich Hill SP | KC
Dodgers' Rich Hill: Set for another bullpen session
Hill (knee) is expected to complete a bullpen session of 35-to-40 pitches Tuesday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Hill topped out at 20 pitches during his last side session Saturday, so he'll take another step forward by upping that count. If all goes well Tuesday, Hill could advance to throwing live batting practice later this week. Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) is on track to beat Hill back from the injured list, but the latter's eventual return will take on greater importance after the Dodgers lost another member of their rotation Monday. Hyun-Jin Ryu suffered a groin injury in his start against the Cardinals and will move to the IL.

Hunter Greene SP | CIN
Reds' Hunter Greene: Undergoes Tommy John surgery
Greene underwent Tommy John surgery Tuesday, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
The procedure had been scheduled earlier in the month after Greene suffered a setback while recovering from an elbow strain. He won't get back to game action until the middle of the 2020 season.

Eric Lauer SP | LAD
Padres' Eric Lauer: Fans eight in win
Lauer (2-1) picked up the win Monday, giving up five runs on four hits and three walks over six innings while striking out eight in a 6-5 victory over the Giants.
It wasn't pretty on Lauer's end, but a three-homer barrage by the Padres -- capped by Framil Reyes' pinch-hit blast in the top of the seventh -- got him into the win column. The southpaw threw 56 of 90 pitches for strikes and now sports a 4.76 ERA and 13:5 K:BB through 17 innings. Lauer will next take the mound Saturday in Arizona.

Julio Teheran SP | BAL
Braves' Julio Teheran: Haunted by fifth inning
Teheran (1-1) yielded six runs on five hits and three walks in five innings during Monday's win over Colorado. He earned the victory, struck out three batters and gave up two homers.
Teheran actually carried a no-hitter into the fifth frame where he would allow all six runs, including long balls from Mark Reynolds and Trevor Story. The right-hander avoided falling to 0-2 with the Braves' offense also putting on a show at Coors Field and carrying him to the win column. He'll take a 6.00 ERA into Saturday's contest against the Mets.

Kyle Freeland SP | COL
Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Rocked for seven runs
Freeland (1-2) took the loss against the Braves on Monday, giving up seven runs on seven hits and four walks in five innings. He struck out three batters.
Freeland had been solid to start 2019 with a 2.31 ERA before Monday's outing. Things got ugly in a hurry though as Ronald Acuna took him deep for a two-run blast in the first frame. Unfortunately, Colorado's offense didn't do enough to prevent its ace from taking a second loss. The 25-year-old southpaw will square off against San Francisco on Saturday.

Hyun-Jin Ryu SP | TOR
Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: Headed to IL
Manager Dave Roberts stated that Ryu will require a trip to the injured list after straining his groin during Monday's start against the Cardinals, Pedro Moura of The Athletic reports.
The Dodgers are unsure as to how long Ryu will remain on the injured list, but he certainly won't be making his next scheduled start. With Rich Hill (knee) and Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) already on the 10-day IL, it's possible the Dodgers turn to pitching prospect Dennis Santana to make a spot start, as he is already working as a long reliever out of the big-league bullpen.

Miles Mikolas RP | WAS
Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Moves to 1-1
Mikolas (1-1) got the win against the Dodgers on Monday, giving up three earned runs on five hits over six innings, striking out three and walking one as the Cardinals won 4-3.
Mikolas gave up two runs in the first inning, but he settled down after that and ended up posting a quality start on his way to his first victory of the season. The right-hander's numbers through three starts still look lackluster thanks to a rough first outing of the season that saw him get shelled for five earned in five innings against the Brewers, as he's now sporting a 6.19 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP to go along with an 8:4 K:BB through 16 innings. He'll look to build on this solid showing in his next start, which is scheduled for Sunday against the Reds in Monterrey, Mexico.

Vince Velasquez RP | KC
Phillies' Vince Velasquez: Goes five innings
Velasquez gave up two runs on four hits while striking out two through five innings in a no-decision against the Nationals on Monday.
Velasquez had a decent outing in his first start as he only allowed four hits in five innings with the damage being done by a two-run home run from Kurt Suzuki. He was pulled after only 80 pitches, which causes some concern about his usage going forward. Velasquez failed to pitch more than five innings in his last nine starts last season, so this will definitely be something to consider when starting the 26-year-old. Velasquez is expected to make his next start Sunday at Marlins Park.

Hyun-Jin Ryu SP | TOR
Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: Strains left groin muscle
Ryu's early exit from Monday's game against the Cardinals was due to a strained left groin muscle, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Ryu was pulled from Monday's game in the second inning with what turned out to be a strain to same groin that forced him out of action for three months after he tore it last season. It remains to be seen if he requires a trip to the injured list, but it could be in the cards for the left-hander.
