Merrill Kelly SP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Merrill Kelly: Bags win in first start
Kelly (1-0) got the win against the Padres on Monday, giving up three earned runs on five hits over six innings, striking out three and walking two as the Diamondbacks prevailed 10-3.
It was a successful first outing for the right-hander, who won the job as Arizona's fifth starter out of spring training after spending the last four seasons pitching in South Korea, and fired a quality start en route to this victory. It remains to be seen how Kelly's game translates to the MLB level, so it will be hard to assess any potential fantasy value here until there is more of a sample size to judge.

Steven Matz RP | TB
Mets' Steven Matz: Yields three runs
Matz allowed three runs (one earned) on six hits while striking out three and taking the no-decision in 5.1 innings during Monday's 7-3 win over Miami.
Matz got tagged early with a two-run shot by Starlin Castro in the first frame. He then allowed just two hits until the sixth inning where he allowed his third run and left in line for a loss. Fortunately, his team came through against Miami's bullpen to avoid the blemish on his record. Matz will face the Nationals on Sunday.

Zach Davies SP | WAS
Brewers' Zach Davies: Fans six in no-decision
Davies didn't factor into the decision in Monday's 4-3 win over the Reds, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks over five innings while striking out six.
He was in line for the win when he exited, but Alex Claudio promptly gave up the tying run in the sixth inning once Davies left the mound. The right-hander made only 13 starts in a rough 2018, and throwing 53 of 90 pitches for strikes to kick off this season isn't spectacular, but Davies only needs to be solid to have a chance at consistent wins with Christian Yelich and the Brewers' offense at his back. His next turn in the rotation is set for Sunday, at home against the Cubs.

Kyle Hendricks SP | LAA
Cubs' Kyle Hendricks: Rocked for seven runs
Hendricks (0-1) yielded seven runs (two earned) on 10 hits and three walks in 4.1 innings during Monday's 8-0 loss to Atlanta. He coughed up two home runs and struck out four.
Things got off to a rocky start with Ender Inciarte clubbing a leadoff homer off Hendricks, leading to a four-run first inning for Atlanta. The Cubs made six errors Monday, but Hendricks didn't exactly help his case by allowing 10 hits and three walks. His next outing will come in Milwaukee on Sunday, giving him another tough test.

Hunter Greene SP | CIN
Reds' Hunter Greene: Headed for Tommy John surgery
Greene is slated for Tommy John surgery, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
Greene had been progressing nicely in March, tossing bullpen sessions without issue. However, he evidently suffered a significant setback and will have to go under the knife, effectively ending his 2019 campaign. The 19-year-old prospect hasn't pitched in a game since July of 2018 and likely won't return until around the 2020 All-Star break.

Adam Wainwright SP | STL
Cardinals' Adam Wainwright: Struggles in first 2019 start
Wainwright allowed four runs on four hits and four walks with three strikeouts across four innings in a no-decision against the Pirates on Monday.
The veteran right-hander was not sharp at all, walking three of the first five hitters he faced. He struggled to get through four innings and only avoided the loss because the Pirates imploded in the final few frames. It's a long season, but at 37 years old, it's probably fair to wonder what exactly Wainwright can supply to owners this season. His average fastball velocity now sits below 90 MPH, and last season he only pitched 40.1 innings because of injuries.

Rich Hill SP | KC
Dodgers' Rich Hill: Progressing from injury
Hill (knee) threw off flat ground and hopes to throw off a mound in a couple days, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
The 39-year-old left-hander is on the injured list with a left knee strain, but said that the injury is feeling better following a Monday throwing session. He's slated to throw a bullpen session this week, which should offer more clarity as to an exact timeline for his return.

Kevin Gausman SP | CHC
Braves' Kevin Gausman: On track to debut Friday
Gausman (shoulder) is on track to debut Friday against the Marlins, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Gausman fired 90 pitches over six innings during a minor-league start Saturday, lining him up to make his 2019 debut later this week. In 10 starts with the Braves last season, the right-hander compiled a 2.87 ERA and 44:18 K:BB in 59.2 innings.

Luis Castillo SP | CHW
Reds' Luis Castillo: Second start moved up
Castillo is scheduled to start Wednesday against the Brewers, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Castillo was originally scheduled to take the ball Thursday against Pittsburgh, but the Reds wanted to steer the young right-hander away from a rematch with the Pirates after he faced them in his season debut. As such, the team decided to flip Castillo and Tyler Mahle in the rotation. In his first start this season, the 26-year-old Castillo allowed one run on two hits over 5.2 innings against the Pirates, striking out eight and walking three in a no-decision.

Tyler Mahle SP | ATL
Reds' Tyler Mahle: Start pushed back
Mahle will start Thursday against the Pirates, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Mahle was originally scheduled to make his first start of the season Wednesday against the Brewers, but he'll flip places in the rotation with Luis Castillo. With Alex Wood (back) hoping to return sometime in April, Mahle's time in the rotation may only be temporary.
