Dustin May SP | MIL
Dodgers' Dustin May: Beginning year at Double-A
May will open the season at Double-A Tulsa, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
May's strong showing in six Double-A starts in 2018 along with an excellent spring fueled speculation he might make the jump to Triple-A Oklahoma City to begin the campaign. Instead, he'll be booked for a return trip to Tulsa, but he shouldn't remain there for long if he's able to avoid the control issues that occasionally cropped up in his brief stint with the affiliate a season ago.

Sammy Solis SP | SD
Padres' Sammy Solis: Heads to Triple-A
The Padres reassigned Solis to Triple-A El Paso, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Solis attended spring training with the Padres as a non-roster invitee but was unable to secure a spot with the big club when Opening Day arrived. Since he doesn't have a spot on the 40-man roster, Solis may struggle to earn an early promotion to the Padres even if he performs well at Triple-A.

Cal Quantrill RP | TEX
Padres' Cal Quantrill: Starting year at Triple-A
Quantrill will begin the 2019 season at Triple-A El Paso, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Quantrill and Logan Allen looked to be the two finalists for the Padres' last remaining spot in the rotation heading into Opening Day, but the team instead made the surprising decision to go with Nick Margevicius -- who had never pitched above the High-A level -- as their No. 5 starter. A 2016 first-round pick, Quantrill's numbers in the minors have never matched his draft pedigree, but the 23-year-old has performed passably enough to put himself on the short list for a promotion in the event the Padres require a spot starter at any point this season.

MacKenzie Gore SP | TEX
Padres' MacKenzie Gore: Starting year at High-A
Gore will open the 2019 season with High-A Lake Elsinore, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Gore will move up to the California League after compiling a 4.45 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 74:18 K:BB in 60.2 innings for Low-A Fort Wayne last season before he was shut down in late August with a fingernail issue. He reported to camp at full strength and shouldn't be limited health-wise to begin the 2019 campaign, though the Padres will surely monitor the 20-year-old lefty's innings carefully throughout the season.

Kyle Wright SP | CHC
Braves' Kyle Wright: Issues five walks in 2019 debut
Wright (0-1) allowed three runs on two hits and five walks while striking out four over 4.1 innings in a loss to the Phillies on Sunday night.
Nerves may have been an issue early on, as Wright handed out three consecutive free passes in the first inning of his very first big-league start. He eventually settled down and was decent the rest of the way outside of a homer and a HBP; two of the three runs charged to Wright crossed the plate after he exited the game. He will look for better results this weekend against the Marlins at home.

Joe Musgrove SP | SD
Pirates' Joe Musgrove: Pitches well in relief
Musgrove threw two perfect relief innings Sunday against the Reds, DK Pittsburgh Sports reports.
Following Saturday's rainout, Musgrove volunteered to have his scheduled Sunday start skipped so that the rest of the rotation could stay on track. "Very rarely do you say a guy got his work in a major-league game when it's 3-0," manager Clint Hurdle said. He hadn't pitched out of the bullpen since the 2017 World Series but threw well in this one. Musgrove is slated to start Friday at home against the Reds.

Walker Buehler SP | SD
Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Crushed for five runs
Buehler yielded five runs on five hits and a walk in three innings but took the no-decision in Sunday's win over Arizona.
Not only did Buehler get rocked, but he failed to record a strikeout. He was spotted a 4-0 lead before allowing three runs without recording an out in the fourth. Pedro Baez replaced him and allowed two more to score, going against Buehler. The second-year right-hander was expected to build off his 2.62 ERA from 2018 but has already put himself behind. Buehler will take the mound in Colorado on Saturday.

Chris Paddack RP | TEX
Padres' Chris Paddack: Impresses in MLB debut
Paddack allowed one run on two hits and a walk while taking the no-decision in Sunday's win over the Giants. He struck out seven.
One of the Padres' best prospects, Paddack lived up to the hype with a terrific big-league debut. The 23-year-old cruised through four innings without allowing a hit but was eventually tagged with an RBI double from Pablo Sandoval. However, he'll get a much tougher test against St. Louis on Saturday.

Cole Hamels SP | SD
Cubs' Cole Hamels: Shaky outing in 2019 debut
Hamels surrendered five runs on six hits and three walks while striking out four over five innings Sunday against Texas. He didn't factor into the decision.
Hamels was in the driver's seat heading into the fourth inning, but he gave up the lead after allowing five runs (including a grand slam) on three hits and a pair of walks. The 35-year-old lefty was pulled after hurling 61 of 100 pitches for strikes. Following a wild 11-10 finish, Hamels will search for his first victory of the 2019 campaign against Milwaukee on Saturday.

Michael Wacha SP | KC
Cardinals' Michael Wacha: Robbed of first win
Wacha allowed one run on four hits and four walks and struck out seven over six innings Sunday against Milwaukee. He didn't factor into the decision.
Wacha was in line for the victory after tossing six strong innings, but Christian Yelich's late-inning heroics would rob him of the win. Wacha surrendered his lone run in the first inning on a solo homer by Yelich, but he managed to settle down in the innings to follow. The 27-year-old right-hander will look to secure his first victory of 2019 in his next outing Sunday against the Padres following a stellar season debut.
