Tyler Anderson SP | LAA
Rockies' Tyler Anderson: Plays catch Wednesday
Anderson (shoulder) played catch Wednesday after being scratched from Monday's start, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Anderson was scratched from his projected start due to left shoulder soreness, though general manager Jeff Bridich confirmed it didn't appear to be "too serious" and that the club was hopeful Anderson would pitch later this week. Per Harding, Anderson was able to increase his distance during Wednesday's session, which is a good sign. It remains to be seen whether Anderson will be able to take the mound for a start this weekend against Washington. We will continue to monitor this situation over the next few days.

Luis Castillo SP | CHW
Reds' Luis Castillo: Shut down for rest of season
Castillo will be shut down for the rest of the 2018 season due to an innings restriction, Bobby Nightengale of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Castillo was expected to make his final start of the season Friday, but the Reds have elected to close the book on his year following a superb outing against Miami on Friday. During that performance, he tossed 8.1 scoreless innings with five strikeouts while allowing just five hits and one walk. On the year, he will finish with 169.2 innings pitched -- the exact same total he had in 2017 split between the majors and Triple-A -- with a 4.30 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 8.8 K/9. Anthony DeSclafani will take his place in the rotation Friday while Michael Lorenzen will pitch Saturday.

Walker Buehler SP | SD
Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Quality start in no-decision
Buehler allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out five over six innings in Tuesday's loss to the Diamondbacks. He didn't factor into the decision.
The only damage on his ledger came in the fifth inning when Buehler yielded a pair of runs on a single, walk and double. He otherwise allowed just one runner to advance beyond first base the rest of the outing. The rookie has had a strong final push to the season, tossing four quality starts in five tries in the final month while maintaining a 1.95 ERA with 42 strikeouts over 32.1 innings in that span. The 24-year-old lines up to face the Giants in the regular-season finale Sunday, though that could change depending on the Dodgers' playoff standing heading into that game.

Vince Velasquez RP | KC
Phillies' Vince Velasquez: Allows six runs in loss
Velasquez (9-12) allowed six runs on eight hits in a loss to the Rockies on Tuesday, striking out two and walking two in 3.2 innings.
Velasquez gave up a three-run homer to David Dahl in the third inning and then got knocked around a bit in the fourth, surrendering four base hits before being lifted at 67 pitches (39 for strikes). Over his last five starts Velasquez has gone 0-3 with a 10.70 ERA in 17.2 innings. On the year the right-hander has a 4.85 ERA and 1.34 WHIP to go along with 161 punchouts in 146.2 innings. He currently lines up to start the Phillies' final game of the season, Sunday at home against the Braves.

Austin Gomber SP | TEX
Cardinals' Austin Gomber: Allows five runs, takes loss
Gomber (6-2) allowed five runs on seven hits in 3.2 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Brewers, recording six strikeouts and no walks.
Gomber allowed a couple solo home runs in the first inning and later got hit around in the fourth before getting the hook with two runners on and the Cardinals down 3-0. Gomber hasn't made it out of the fourth inning in two of his last three starts, and now sports a 4.07 ERA and 1.48 WHIP to go along with a 65:31 K:BB in 73 innings this season. The lefty is not slated to start another game but it's possible he could see some action out of the bullpen this weekend against the Cubs in Chicago.

Touki Toussaint RP | LAA
Braves' Touki Toussaint: Walks five in no-decision
Toussaint allowed two runs on three hits and five walks across five innings Tuesday in a no-decision against the Mets. He struck out six.
Toussaint threw just 52 percent of his pitches for strikes as he tied his season high in walks. He only allowed three hits, but all three came in quick succession in the third inning, accounting for the Mets' first two runs. Unfortunately that was enough to keep him from his third win, though he's now gone at least five innings while allowing two earned runs in three of his last four starts. Toussaint could make his final start of the regular season Sunday against the Phillies, but it's also possible that his next appearance comes in the playoffs.

Noah Syndergaard SP | CLE
Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Six scoreless innings in no-decision
Syndergaard fired six scoreless innings Tuesday in a no-decision against the Braves, allowing three hits and two walks with five strikeouts.
Syndergaard threw 69 percent of his pitches for strikes and allowed just one runner past first base. He likely could've gone deeper into the game, but he was removed after six innings and watched as the bullpen blew the lead in the seventh, costing him a shot at a win. Syndergaard bounced back nicely after he was roughed up in his last outing, with this quality start lowering his ERA to a sharp 3.22. He lines up for one final start this weekend against the Marlins.

Rich Hill SP | KC
Dodgers' Rich Hill: Won't start this weekend
Hill will not start against the Giants in the final series of the regular season this weekend, Pedro Moura of The Athletic reports.
Hill was in line to start Friday but instead will be skipped as the Dodgers opt to start Hyun-Jin Ryu, Clayton Kershaw and Walker Buehler at San Francisco. The veteran left-hander isn't expected to be an option out of the bullpen this weekend, but he will be ready for a tie-breaking Game 163 or Wild Card game next week if the Dodgers fail to lock down the NL West, Moura reports.

Jameson Taillon SP | TOR
Pirates' Jameson Taillon: May not start again in 2018
Taillon may not make his scheduled start Saturday against the Reds, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
Manager Clint Hurdle noted that he talked to Taillon and the two are still "working through some information to make a good decision" regarding his final start of the season. The 25-year-old has already thrown a career-high 185 innings, posting a 3.16 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 172:46 K:BB, and the Pirates, who are out of playoff contention, may simply want to preserve the right-hander heading into the offseason. It's unclear who would take Taillon's turn in the rotation Saturday if he doesn't pitch.
