Tyler Anderson SP | LAA
Rockies' Tyler Anderson: Gets skipped in rotation
Anderson isn't listed among the Rockies' probable starters for their four-game series with the Padres that begins Thursday.
Due to an open date Wednesday, the Rockies were able to reshuffle their rotation, which will deny Anderson a start this week and likely result in his next turn being pushed back to Monday against the Giants at Coors Field. The decision is hardly a surprising one, as the lefty has posted an 11.39 ERA and 2.02 WHIP while turning in only one quality start over his five outings in August. The altered pitching schedule will allow staff ace Kyle Freeland to pick up a second start this week in Sunday's series finale.

Zach Davies SP | WAS
Brewers' Zach Davies: Listed as Monday's starter vs. Cubs
Davies is in line to pitch Monday's series opener against the Cubs, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Davies is set to rejoin the Brewers' starting rotation after a shoulder injury robbed him of the past three months. He's currently on Wisconsin's roster at the Low-A level, having recently thrown a nine-inning shutout for the Timber Rattlers in his latest start. This upcoming showdown with the Cubs will mark his first time on a big-league mound since facing off against St. Louis on May 29.

Freddy Peralta SP | TB
Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Optioned to minors
Peralta was sent down to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Thursday.
Peralta will return to the big-league club in the near future but is required to spend 10 days in the minors following this transaction, barring an injury to someone on the Brewers' active roster. He recently allowed five runs on six hits and one walk while striking out five across 4.1 innings versus the Reds on Wednesday. Since Peralta just pitched it's likely that this move will only cost the right-hander one start, though Zach Davies is set to rejoin the starting rotation Monday, so it remains to be seen how manager Craig Counsell will deploy his staff.

Michael Wacha SP | KC
Cardinals' Michael Wacha: Undergoing further evaluation
Wacha (oblique) has returned to St. Louis to be examined by team doctors following his early exit from Tuesday's rehab start with Double-A Springfield, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
Wacha was seemingly on track to return to the big-league rotation at some point next week prior to the injury, which appears to be related to the original left oblique problem that landed him on the disabled list. The right-hander's projected return date almost assuredly gets pushed back at this point, with more clarity likely to be gained once the results of Wacha's medical evaluation are made public.

Alex Wood RP | ATH
Dodgers' Alex Wood: Shuts out Rangers in win
Wood (8-6) fired seven shutout innings with five strikeouts against four hits and two walks en route to picking up the win Wednesday against the Rangers.
Wood was dominant, inducing 15 swinging strikes while scattering four singles across seven frames. The lefty wraps up August with a tidy 2.05 ERA over four starts in the month, and on the year now sports a 3.42 ERA to go along with 122:35 K:BB across 139.1 innings. Next up is the Mets at home Monday.

Miles Mikolas RP | WAS
Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Takes loss vs. Pittsburgh
Mikolas (13-4) was tagged with the loss Wednesday, allowing two runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out five over five innings against the Pirates.
All the damage came in the fifth inning when Mikolas allowed four hits and both runs, and the St. Louis bats were unable to provide any run support to bail him out of his first loss since June. The 30-year-old has given up 20 hits over 9.2 innings in his last two starts, but he still sports strong ratios on the season with a 2.96 ERA and 1.11 WHIP. He'll look to bounce back Monday in Washington.
-
Trevor Williams RP | TEX
Pirates' Trevor Williams: Blanks St. Louis in win
Williams (11-9) got the win Wednesday, tossing six shutout innings with eight strikeouts while allowing three hits and three walks against the Cardinals.
Williams got into some early trouble in the first inning, allowing runners on second and third with no one out, but after working out of that jam the 26-year-old cruised the rest of the way. He's given up two or fewer runs in eight straight starts now -- including five starts in that span with no runs allowed -- and his ERA has dropped over a full run to 3.30 as a result. He'll look to keep rolling Monday against the Reds.

Freddy Peralta SP | TB
Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Roughed up by Reds in no-decision
Peralta didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 13-12 extra-inning win over the Reds, coughing up five runs on six hits and a walk over 4.1 innings while striking out five.
The rookie's weak performance ended up being an afterthought in a wild 10-inning affair that saw even the normally dominant Josh Hader get tagged for four runs. Peralta's volatility continues to make him a risky fantasy play, as he's allowed five runs or more in three of seven starts since the All-Star break and posted a 6.19 ERA over that stretch, but his 10.2 K/9 in those 36.1 innings highlights his upside. He'll look for a better result in his next outing Monday at home against the Cubs.

Joey Lucchesi RP | LAA
Padres' Joey Lucchesi: Whiffs nine in win
Lucchesi (7-7) earned the win Wednesday against the Mariners, allowing one run on six hits and two walks across 6.2 innings. He struck out nine.
A pair of singles plated a run in the first inning, but Lucchesi quickly rebounded and kept the Mariners from scoring again before exiting with two outs in the seventh inning and an 8-1 lead. The funky left-hander has now registered back-to-back quality starts after a five-run hiccup against the Diamondbacks earlier in the month. He'll carry a 3.59 ERA into his next start, which will come on the road against the Diamondbacks.

Vince Velasquez RP | KC
Phillies' Vince Velasquez: Next start pushed to Monday
Manager Gabe Kapler said Velasquez will have his next start pushed back to Monday against the Marlins, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic reports.
Velasquez last pitched in Toronto on Sunday, so he will be coming into Monday's start on seven days of rest. Both Zach Eflin and Aaron Nola jumped him in the rotation and will pitch against the Cubs on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
