Zach Eflin SP | BAL
Phillies' Zach Eflin: Quality start in no-decision
Eflin gave up three runs on nine hits over six innings in a no-decision against Seattle on Wednesday, striking out five and walking one.
Remarkably, he also hit a batter for the fourth consecutive start -- quite a bizarre streak for a guy who's only issued four walks in 32 innings. The five strikeouts represent a season high for Eflin, and it's good to see him missing some more bats -- his sparkling stats will be hard to maintain otherwise, even if he continues keeping the ball on the ground and avoiding bases on balls. With a couple off days coming up and no announced plans to skip anyone's rotation turn, Eflin may not make his next start until next Wednesday in Texas.

Tommy Milone SP | SEA
Mets' Tommy Milone: Decent in New York debut
Milone tossed five innings in his Mets debut Wednesday, giving up two runs on six hits and two walks with five strikeouts against the Giants.
Although he left with a lead, he didn't figure into the decision thanks to closer Jeurys Familia's ninth-inning implosion. This was a nice first impression for the 30-year-old Milone, who appears likely to hold down a rotation spot until the Mets get Steven Matz back from an elbow injury.

Braxton Garrett RP | CHC
Marlins' Braxton Garrett: Tosses 4.2 shutout frames in pro debut
Garrett threw 4.2 shutout innings for Low-A Greensboro on Monday in his professional debut. He gave up one hit while walking three and striking out four.
The No. 7 overall pick in last year's draft finally made his long-awaited debut, and it was an impressive performance, all things considered. He induced seven groundouts and three flyouts in the game, and out-dueled Low-A Rome southpaw Joey Wentz, who is a similarly hyped pitching prospect with 18 professional starts under his belt.

Touki Toussaint RP | LAA
Braves' Touki Toussaint: Dealing with bad luck at High-A
Toussaint, 20, has an 8.28 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 37:8 K:BB in 29.1 innings with High-A Florida.
His ratios are pretty ugly, but consider his 3.89 FIP and 3.24 xFIP as better indicators of how the electric righty should pitch going forward. His 42.1 percent strand rate and .357 BABIP point to some pretty bad luck thus far.

Mike Soroka SP | ARI
Braves' Mike Soroka: Pitching beyond his years at Double-A
Soroka, 19, has a 3.45 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 31:7 K:BB in 31.1 innings with Double-A Mississippi.
He is the second youngest pitcher in the Southern League behind teammate Kolby Allard and skipped High-A altogether, so this is a very impressive start to the season for the 6-foot-5 righty. His walk rate is almost identical to what he posted at Low-A, and his strikeout rate is up from 21.4 percent to 23.9 percent against significantly tougher competition.

Jake Thompson SP | PHI
Phillies' Jake Thompson: Sent back to Minors
Thompson was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Wednesday.
Thompson made just two appearances (6.00 ERA across three innings) with the big club before being shipped back to Lehigh Valley. He'll likely see another chance with the Phillies this season, but the team wants to keep developing him as a starter, so he should spend the majority of his time at Triple-A until a spot in the Phillies' rotation opens up. A corresponding roster move should be announced prior to the weekend series against the Nationals.
-
Ian Anderson RP | ATL
Braves' Ian Anderson: Whiff machine with Rome
Anderson, 19, has a 3.21 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 37:17 K:BB in 28 innings with Low-A Rome.
He has touched 97 mph in starts, and has showcased perhaps more upside in the early going than many expected when the Braves took him at No. 3 overall with an under-slot deal last June. Anderson has issued seven walks in his last 9.1 innings (two starts), so his control obviously needs some work, but his clear ability to miss bats at an elite clip has upped his stock in dynasty leagues.

Jose Urena SP | LAA
Marlins' Jose Urena: Will start Friday
Urena will start Friday's game against the Braves, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports.
Manager Don Mattingly revealed Monday that Wei-Yin Chen (elbow) won't be ready to come off the disabled list when eligible Friday, so Urena will get an opportunity to build on his dominant start May 7 against the Mets, when he tossed six shutout innings while ceding one hit and one walk in a victory. Even though Chen is expected back the following week, Urena appears to have a good shot at retaining a rotation spot on at least a short-term basis after the Marlins demoted struggling fifth starter Adam Conley to Triple-A New Orleans on Tuesday.

Robbie Ray SP | SD
Diamondbacks' Robbie Ray: Done in by walks Tuesday
Ray (2-3) gave up five runs on five hits and five walks while striking out eight over five innings in Tuesday's 7-3 loss to the Tigers.
He threw just 56 of 98 pitches for strikes. While the left-hander continues to pile up the strikeouts and now has a career-high 12.4 K/9, his 5.0 BB/9 is an eyesore. Ray will try to find the zone a little more often Sunday at home against the Pirates.

Kyle Freeland SP | COL
Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Can't find plate in Tuesday's nightcap
Freeland (3-2) allowed five runs (three earned) on four hits and four walks while striking out six over six innings in an 8-1 loss to the Cubs in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader.
He threw only 54 of 97 pitches for strikes, and benefited from a couple of questionable error calls by the official scorer on tough defensive plays by Trevor Story and DJ LeMahieu. Freeland will take a 2.93 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 26:18 K:BB through 40 innings into his next start Tuesday on the road against a Twins team that sits 24th in the league with a .287 wOBA against lefties.
