  • Alex Wood RP | ATH

Dodgers' Alex Wood: Could be in line for start

Wood is the leading candidate to fill in for Rich Hill (finger) if he is forced to miss his next scheduled start Saturday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Hill hasn't officially been ruled out for his next start, but given the recurring nature of his blisters, another DL stint could be in store for the oft-injured veteran. Wood filled in for Hill last week, but he struggled to get through four innings against the Cubs. With a potential matchup against a potent Diamondbacks lineup, it would be tough to recommend the southpaw outside of deep leagues. That said, he could be worth a stash in standard formats in the event that Hill is forced to miss extended time.

  • Cardinals' Adam Wainwright: Drops to 0-3 after another rough outing

Wainwright (0-3) allowed four runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out four batters through 4.2 innings during Sunday's loss to the Yankees.

Considering he allowed 12 baserunners, Wainwright was lucky to surrender just four runs. The 35-year-old veteran is coming off his worst season (4.26 ERA and 3.93 FIP) since establishing himself as a starter in 2007, and 2017 hasn't looked promising either. Wainwright struggled to induce groundballs (43.8 percent) and allowed a career-high 11.8 HR/FB rate in 2016, and there has been no improvement through three starts this year with 41.7 percent and 13.8 percent marks, respectively.

  • Taijuan Walker SP | LAA

Diamondbacks' Taijuan Walker: Fans seven to collect second win

Walker (2-1) allowed one run on four hits and a walk while striking out seven batters over five innings during Sunday's win over Los Angeles.

Command remains an issue for the talented righty, as Walker threw just 64.4 percent of his pitches for strikes. While it isn't a significant concern, pitching deep into games has been difficult for him in the past because his pitch counts climb quickly, and he's tossed just 16 innings through his first three starts this year. Still, the uptick in strikeouts against the Dodgers on Sunday was promising. There's no questioning Walker's skill or potential.

  • Jerad Eickhoff SP | PIT

Phillies' Jerad Eickhoff: Throws third straight quality start Sunday

Eickhoff allowed three runs on eight hits and one walk across six innings en route to a no-decision Sunday against the Nationals. He struck out five.

Eickhoff allowed an RBI double to Anthony Rendon in the first inning and a two-run home run to Bryce Harper in the third. However, he allowed just three baserunners the rest of the way and put his team in a position to make things interesting at the end of the game. He pounded the strike zone at a 71 percent clip, and his only walk was of the intentional variety. Eickhoff has turned in a quality start all three times he has taken the hill this season, but a meager four runs of support has left him without a win. He'll take a 2.75 ERA into Saturday's matchup with the Braves.

  • Rockies' Antonio Senzatela: Picks up second win against Giants

Senzatela (2-0) allowed three runs on seven hits while walking none and striking out three over seven innings for his second win in Sunday's 4-3 victory over the Giants.

Senzatela showed poise in this one. He gave up all three of his runs in the first inning after being staked to a 3-0 lead but proceeded to toss six scoreless innings after that for the win. The 22-year-old is now sporting a remarkable 2.37 ERA with 14 strikeouts and four walks in 19 innings over his three starts. Those in deeper mixed leagues should take notice, but keep in mind that it won't be all roses for the youngster, and remember that he does pitch at hitter-friendly Coors Field.

  • Pirates' Jameson Taillon: Earns first win of season with another gem

Taillon (1-0) allowed one unearned run on seven hits while walking three and striking out six over seven innings for his first win of the season in Sunday's 6-1 win over the Cubs.

Taillon now sports a sparking 0.90 ERA and 16:7 K:BB ratio after the 108-pitch outing Sunday. He's only allowed three runs in 20 innings to start the season after he finished second among NL rookie starters last year with a 3.38 ERA. The sky is the limit for the 25-year-old, and he looks to be even better so far in his sophomore campaign.

  • Rich Hill SP | KC

Dodgers' Rich Hill: Blister returns in Sunday's game

Hill left Sunday's game in the fourth inning after aggravating the blister on his finger, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Hill can't seem to shake his blister-related health issues. After having a blister hinder his time with the Dodgers in 2016, he had one flare up early in the stages of the 2017 season. Hill came off the disabled list to pitch Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks but only managed to throw 54 pitches over three innings. Owners will want to monitor his status, as another DL stint could be in order depending on the severity of his ailment this time around.

  • Zach Eflin SP | BAL

Phillies' Zach Eflin: Will start for big club Tuesday

Eflin will start Tuesday's game against the Mets, Jim Salisbury of CSN Philadelphia reports.

As was expected, Eflin will head up to the big club to pitch Tuesday's game in place of Clay Buchholz (forearm). Eflin pitched 11 games (63.1 innings) for the Phillies in 2016, but they didn't go as planned. Over said games, he posted a 5.54 ERA and 1.33 WHIP while giving up home runs at a disastrous rate of 1.7 per nine innings.

  • Kenta Maeda SP | NYY

Dodgers' Kenta Maeda: Takes no-decision in short outing Saturday

Maeda only last four innings Saturday, giving up four runs on four hits over four innings. He walked one and struck out five in an eventual win over the Diamondbacks.

The 29-year-old threw just 71 pitches before getting the hook Saturday. After surrendering an early lead, manager Dave Roberts may have simply seen enough from his starter before dipping into a rested bullpen. Maeda hasn't been the same breakout pitcher we saw last year, posting a 7.07 ERA through three starts. The concerning part is his inability to get past the fifth inning in any of his starts so far. Two of his first three starts have come against dangerous offenses (Colorado and Arizona), so it isn't time to panic quite yet. That being said, Maeda's next start comes against these same Diamondbacks, this time in the hitter-friendly confines of Chase Field, so we may have to wait another week before he rights the ship.

  • Rich Hill SP | KC

Dodgers' Rich Hill: Activated in advance of Sunday start

Hill (finger) is listed as the starting pitcher for Sunday's matchup against the Diamondbacks, MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports.

Hill's presence in the starting lineup means that the Dodgers have activated him from the 10-day disabled list, as expected. The left-hander will make his second start of 2017, squaring off against Taijuan Walker and the Diamondbacks.
