Paddack (0-3) took the loss against the White Sox in Thursday's rain-shortened game. He allowed two runs on five hits and four walks while striking out five across five innings.

Paddack put the Twins behind in the second inning after giving up a solo homer to Lenyn Sosa, and the former gave up an additional run in the fourth frame on a bases-loaded walk. Paddack tossed 99 pitches (57 strikes) and generated 12 whiffs, but he couldn't avoid the loss, as the Twins' offense failed to accumulate any runs. Still, Paddack has rebounded nicely since giving up nine runs in his season debut March 31, logging a 3.32 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 18:9 in 19 innings over his last four starts. He's slated to take on the Guardians on the road next week, when he'll look to earn his first win of 2025.

Smith (1-1) came away with the win in Thursday's rain-shortened game against the Twins, allowing four hits and one walk while striking out seven over five scoreless innings.

Smith punched out a season-high seven batters in Thursday's outing, generating 12 whiffs on 82 pitches (50 strikes) en route to his first MLB win. It was the second time he's logged a scoreless outing and through five starts, and the Rule 5 pick has a 2.30 ERA and 0.95 WHIP, which rank eighth and seventh among qualified starters in the American League, respectively. The 25-year-old right-hander is slated to take on the Brewers at home next week.

The Guardians are expected to promote Nikhazy from Triple-A Columbus ahead of Friday's game against the Red Sox, SI.com reports.

Nikhazy had been working as a starter at Columbus, posting a 3.44 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 22:7 K:BB in 18.1 innings. The Guardians intend to deploy Nikhazy out of the bullpen initially, but he could be the next man up to start if an opening emerges in the big-league rotation.

Marquez (0-4) took the loss Thursday in the first game of a doubleheader with the Royals, allowing six runs on eight hits and three walks over four innings. He struck out three.

It was another tough day for Marquez, who's now allowed 18 earned runs over just 9.1 innings in his last three outings. The 30-year-old right-hander sports an ugly 9.30 ERA with a 2.02 WHIP and 14:11 K:BB through his first five starts (20.1 innings) this season. Marquez will look to right the ship in his next outing, currently lined up for next week at home against Atlanta.

Ragans was removed from his start Thursday against the Rockies due to groin tightness.

Ragans made it through just three innings in the first game of Thursday's twin bill, during which he surrendered four runs on three hits (including two homers) and two walks while punching out four batters. The Royals haven't offered any specifics on the severity of the left-hander's injury, so it's unknown if he'll be able to make his next scheduled start against the Rays next week, but he'll presumably undergo tests in the near future to determine his availability.

Crochet (2-2) took the loss Thursday against the Mariners, allowing four runs on five hits and five walks over five innings. He struck out nine.

The Mariners got to Crochet early Thursday, scoring twice in each of the first two innings. It's the left-hander's first subpar outing with the Red Sox -- Crochet hadn't allowed more than two earned runs in any of his previous four starts. His ERA still sits at an impressive 1.95 with a 1.05 WHIP and 44:15 K:BB across 37 innings this season. Crochet will look to bounce back in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week in Toronto.

Woo (3-1) earned the win Thursday over the Red Sox, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out eight.

It was another strong effort from Woo, who set a season-high with eight strikeouts while recording his fourth quality start in five outings. The right-hander's ERA is down to 3.09 with a 0.97 WHIP and 30:7 K:BB through 32 innings this season. Woo will look to keep rolling in his next start, currently slated for next week against the Angels.

Cavalli (elbow) will make his next rehab start Thursday with Double-A Harrisburg, Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post reports.

Cavalli will get a tougher test for his second outing in the minors after he reported to Single-A Fredericksburg for the beginning of his rehab assignment and struck out three batters over four scoreless innings during his lone outing with the affiliate last Saturday. The right-hander was out for most of the previous two seasons while recovering from Tommy John surgery and also missed time last summer while going through a "dead arm" phase, so the Nationals will likely keep him on his rehab assignment for the entire 30-day window. Washington doesn't appear to have a rotation spot available for Cavalli at the big-league level, so the 26-year-old will likely be optioned to Triple-A Rochester once he's activated from the 15-day injured list.

Gibson dealt with some back tightness during his last start with High-A Aberdeen on Sunday, Jim Hayes of FanDuel Sports Network reports.

Gibson indicated that he feels ready to join the Orioles' rotation, so it doesn't sound as if the back issue he had is a big deal. However, it could have contributed to the Orioles choosing Brandon Young -- rather than Gibson -- to start Friday's game in Detroit. It's not clear whether Gibson will make another start in the minors first, but he's a good bet to join the Orioles' rotation sometime next week. The 37-year-old has been ramping up in the minors after signing with Baltimore late in spring training.

The Brewers reinstated Myers (oblique) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Thursday against the Giants in San Francisco.

Myers will make his 2025 debut with Milwaukee after a he suffered a left oblique strain late in spring training that resulted in him beginning the season on the shelf. The right-hander made three rehab starts with Triple-A Nashville and covered five innings and tossed 76 pitches in his most recent outing this past Friday, so he's unlikely to be operating with many restrictions in San Francisco. Milwaukee optioned lefty reliever Bryan Hudson to Triple-A to make room on the 26-man active roster for Myers.
