The Dodgers placed Stone on the 15-day injured list Friday due to right shoulder inflammation.

The Dodgers' rotation has taken another blow with Stone set to miss at least the next two weeks. The 25-year-old right-hander last pitched Saturday against the Diamondbacks, allowing five runs on five hits and one walk while striking out four across five innings in a no-decision. Stone felt discomfort after that start, and it's unclear whether he will return this season, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. For the season, Stone is 11-5 over 25 starts with a 3.53 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 116:37 K:BB across 140.1 innings. Justin Wrobleski was recalled by the Dodgers from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move, and he will likely start Saturday against the Guardians in Stone's place.

With Gavin Stone (shoulder) landing on the injured list, Wrobleski may be needed for a start this weekend against the Guardians. Wrobleski has made six starts for the big club this season, pitching to a 6.82 ERA and 1.38 WHIP across 30.1 innings. He's a work in progress, but Wrobleski's numbers at Double-A this season (3.06 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 62:13 K:BB in 67.2 innings) demonstrate the lefty's potential.

Knack was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City ahead of his scheduled start Friday against the Guardians.

As expected, Knack will come up to start in place of Clayton Kershaw (toe), and he could stick around for an additional start beyond Friday with Gavin Stone (shoulder) now on the injured list as well. Knack has been impressive in 10 appearances (eight starts) for the Dodgers this season, posting a 3.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 44:12 K:BB over 48 innings.

Herz will not start Friday against the Pirates as the game has been postponed due to inclement weather.

Friday's tilt will be made up Saturday as part of a doubleheader, and Herz will likely pitch in the first game. The southpaw is 2-7 across 15 starts this season with a 4.09 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 88:26 K:BB in 70.1 innings.

Cabrera (undisclosed) has been scratched from Friday's start against the Phillies, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

It's unclear why Cabrera was removed, but Austin Kitchen will start in his place. Cabrera is 3-6 over 16 starts this season with a 5.33 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 84:42 K:BB across 76 innings.

Blanco will be available out of the bullpen for this weekend's series against the Diamondbacks, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Manager Joe Espada confirmed, however, that the Astros will be returning to a six-man rotation following Monday's team off day, which means Blanco will be back in the rotation next weekend in Anaheim. Chances are, the right-hander will return to the bullpen for the postseason, but with Houston not having another day off after Monday until Sept. 26, Blanco could perhaps make two more starts before the end of the campaign. He's already thrown a career-high 148.1 innings in 2024.

Matz will be available out of the bullpen going forward beginning with Sunday's game against the Mariners, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

The left-hander returned from the 60-day injured list as a starter Tuesday in Milwaukee and allowed three runs over 4.2 innings, but he'll be shifted to the bullpen with Lance Lynn (knee) on the cusp of rejoining St. Louis' rotation. Matz has a 6.12 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 24:12 K:BB across 32.1 innings this season and is now likely to operate as a long reliever.

The Giants placed Harrison on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to Wednesday, due to left shoulder inflammation.

Harrison was roughed up in his last outing Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, when he allowed six runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out three over 2.2 innings. He's given up 11 runs over his last two starts, and since the beginning of August he's posted a 7.76 ERA and 1.57 WHIP across 26.2 frames. Harrison will be eligible to return from the IL in mid-September, though it's unclear whether the injury is severe enough to shut the 23-year-old southpaw down for the rest of the season. Austin Warren was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move.

Lynn (knee) is scheduled to be reinstated from the 15-day injured list to start Wednesday against the Reds, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

The 37-year-old threw 80 pitches while giving up five runs over 3.2 innings during a rehab start with Triple-A Memphis on Sept. 1, and his next game action will come with the big-league club. Lynn landed on the shelf at the end of July due to knee inflammation, but he'll be back with the Cardinals for a few starts down the stretch.

Hill was designated for assignment Friday, Sean McAdam of MassLive.com reports.

Hill had a 4.91 ERA, five strikeouts and three walks in 3.2 innings over four appearances for Boston. It's possible this is the last we see of the 44-year-old lefty in the majors.
